If Mitchell had been here and we'd brought these players in, who do you think would have got the blame then? He'd have been crucified. He's getting slammed anyway, and for all we know it might be because he didn't agree with exactly the type of transfer policy we enacted once he was gone.
-
That's one of the issues with the bigheads at our clubs who want away. Their replacements only answer is to prove them right.
-
I don't particularly rate Wolt that much, in fact I distinctly remember describing him as a bit of a fanny. But we bought him, and he does have technique, so there must be some way of playing where he gets to look more effective. Personally I prefer a striker with pace, but if Howe stays, I think replacing Woltemade and Wissa will be the biggest hurdle.
-
Every manager has a preferred way of playing, but unless the players fit that profile, sometimes you have to play according to the players you've got.
-
The alternative to that would be hire a manager who understands that we already spent a fuckton of money last summer and he should look at using those players first as it may be they are better playing a different style. Either way, I don't think we will be overhauling the squad that much in the summer, although of course if we end up selling players, then they will need replacing.
-
Well it seems to have worked for him.
-
There's been reports they are looking elsewhere due to his injury concerns.
-
It depends if that's his only modus operandi or he plays like that because he's at Palace. I don't want anyone who can't adapt to the players he's got.
-
He should have signed that contract when it was offered. I can't see a big team spending £40m on him if he's injured more often than not. I really liked him as a player, but not sure it's worth tying him down on an extension if he's a crock.
-
Just to answer the question, not sure if we are actually ready to move Howe next season, but Glasner might be a sensible option. Not dead exciting, but he seems intelligent, and won Palace a trophy.
-
We aren't signing Ramsdale man.
-
I hope the new DOF can find another Isak then.
-
Maybe there's a way to get him to perform in a team setting with an overlapping full back. We'll need to find it because he's not going to be sold IMO. He's not going to go past a decent full back, so the only way he works is as part of a team which passes their way in. Not really how we play though.
-
How will he get a better transfer market this time round though? We'll still have the same competition for the top young players he's after. If we sign players who are rated but he doesn't like, he just won't play them like Woltemade. If he stays, then we are going to need a complete overhaul of the squad, which will mean selling players at a loss that we spaffed on last summer. I wonder if Hopkinson will be happy to go down that route?

Might well be a consideration before the club takes the plunge appointing a new manager. We have to remember when we had Emery then Howe lined up, the world was under the impression that PIF would buy their way to glory. This is a very different NUFC which can only operate as outsiders looking in.
-
I said before the game I wouldn't mind seeing him playing as number 10 behind Wissa in a 4-4-2. I know Wissa is supposed to be eating pies and on strike or something, but doubling down on the same stuff we've been doing all season doesn't seem to be working that well anyway.
-
Tbh, that Forest team made Wood look an England striker. If was like a Bruce team on steroids.
-
Give him the job permanently. I'm thinking only the best for Man U here.
-
Maybe...but he doesn't give a flying fuck about the manager. He's gone in the summer, and we'll probably have to sell at a lower fee than we were expecting a month ago as well.
-
Thought he was one of the better performers on the day tbh. Not that it took much.
-
Would be interesting to see what these same players would look like playing a different team. Individually they shouldn't look as bad as they do, but they look terrible playing in our system, whatever that is now. I just don't know where we go from here if we double down with Howe. He's not going to make these players work, and the ones who are half decent want out. What would be the plan? Sell the flops at a loss and then buy young hopefuls in their place? That doesn't sound like it would work either. I think the only way the board can look at this is the players are better than they are looking right now, and bring someone else in who will play them to their strengths. Frankly, I don't think that works either. I think we've spent a load of money on poor players and we are in for another tough season next year whatever happens.

His first touch is still a bit rough for the top level, but tbf he took his goal really nicely.

The bits you didn't bold addressed the point.
