  1. Think they'd ultimately be for different positions, no? Gordon as a winger, Franca for the midfield.
  2. I guess the problem with this is that if he plays well under a new manager then the price in summer will be double what it is now. If Ashworth and Howe really believe in the guy, now is probably the time to get him.
  3. Any chance that Gordon might be a good player and just not suited to the way Everton play?
  4. Yep, I'm OK with signing a "DM" to let Bruno play further forward but if we do that the player should be someone who is comparable to Bruno in the way they play. It's not really a defensive player in our system as a lot of what we want from that role is someone who can break the press when we're trying to play it out from the back and someone who can pick a pass in opposition territory when possession is recycled back to them. Bruno is great as he can continue to play that role as we've seen this year if we went for someone more attack minded but he could be pushed further forward if we went for a deep lying playmaker. Personally lean towards leaving him in the position he's played this year and signing someone like Maddison. Would be a great mixture of players having a Joelinton, Bruno and Maddison midfield trio.
  5. Not every keeper can be gifted with Papal Infallibility.
  6. Are you listening to the match on the radio in a language you don't speak very well or something?
  7. What are you on about, man?
  8. Odegaard is lush. ... Saka also
  9. Think that's what we'd possibly like Isak to be? Early days but from what we've seen of Isak so far I'd prefer to see him playing off a main striker, think he'd be lethal playing from the left.
  10. Think we'll see Isak in for Wilson and otherwise unchanged from yesterday. The lack of scoring recently will be a worry but we just look so solid and I think Howe will be happy to take our chances in another tight game where we look more likely to score and if it ends 0-0 it's not a bad result by any means.
  11. We should definitely be extending him. Squad is so thin and we'll almost certainly have European football of some description next season. Miggy can play both sides and could probably play one of the wide CM roles too. Would expect us to go in for Diaby again in the summer but extending Almiron too should be a no-brainer.
  12. It's an interesting conundrum for him. I'm sure he'll know better than anyone that we need a bit more in attack but we still look so damn good defensively that he'll be wary of losing that in the pursuit of goals. It's a shame that Targett is injured as I think bringing him in for Burn would freshen things up a bit. He's defensively solid enough that he could be used on the left of a three like Burn is when we have possession but he'd also be able to offer something different if we want to change it up from time to time. Aside from that the obvious potential spark is playing ASM or even Isak on the left. Joelinton, Willock and Longstaff all being on the pitch at the same time does mean we're lacking in quality in that final third.
  13. Not a disaster but two points dropped. Gonna be interesting to see what Howe does on the coming game, goals have certainly dried up.
  14. Almiron just constantly looking for a way to take a shot even when it's not on at all.
  15. Willock man, he'd be incredible if he had any sort of final ball.
  16. Zaha's hair looks like graphics from a Playstation 1
  17. It's amazing that he used to be a forward, looks so uncomfortable in the final third compared to the rest of his game.
  18. Another very good team performance, really controlled the half. Do think we look a bit toothless up front, Wilson seems to have lost form. Hopefully we'll nick a goal, be interesting to see if Isak and Wilson are used together again.
  19. Can't say he'd be my ideal signing but some of you seem to have learned absolutely nothing from the last year. Gordon is 21 years old playing for a completely shite manager in a directionless shitshow of a team. He's quick, hardworking and can play on both sides. Pretty confident Howe would turn him into an extremely productive player.
  20. It's massively on for us, getting to the point that I'll be gutted if we don't finish top four
  21. There's a thread for this. 'Realistic Transfer targets' Oh Anglian,
  22. Wouldn't be a disaster but it's not a good result IMO. Stacking up draws is a quick way to drop out of the top four.

    Matheus França

I mean Yaya isn't the worst shout in terms of what a Joelinton-Modric mashup would look like as a player

My student said Modric, which was a nice thought

Recent Brazilian student of mine is massively into football, he's a Corinthians mega fan. I messaged and asked him what he thinks. Thinks he can develop into a top CM. Has played quite a bit on the wing and in more advanced positions as he's so quick but thinks ultimately he's going to be best suited to playing in the middle. Always looking for the ball and is plenty physical even at age 18 and will develop into a bit of a beast. He's quite excited at the prospect of Flamengo losing him, any way.
