Hi @cattermole_lee I think you're brilliant and so excited to see you on twitter!! What's your favourite window flavour? #askcattermole I like it when people put some effort into it. Someone should totally Battletoads Cattermole.
  3. ...ahhh. Did you listen to the questions? Would you have won the grand?
  4. Is it not 1471? Shit luck anyway man, sounded like it was meant to be!
  5. Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle, Liverpool. Although, depending on where RVP goes, that could change Ars/Tot. Pretty sure the rest is set in stone tbh.
  6. Exactly, if you got into a job that paid you about 3 times what you're worth, would you leave it? I hated Alan Smith because he was fucking shite, but I never blamed him for taking what he was given.
  7. I wouldn't take a 3 million a year pay cut either.
  8. Head would agree with Minhosa, but heart would be Manure. They have history and world standing, going to City would be kinda 'meh' apart from the vast quanitities of cash.
  9. They can sell him to whoever they want can't they?
  10. Arsenal would be mad to sell him to another prem team, will be gutted if he leaves the premiership though.
  11. Fucking delighted they're being so fucking unrealistic. I'd be scared we'd go for it at 15m or close.
  12. Sammi is fucking levitating his paddle
  13. I'm not sure they can 'afford' to spend 15 million on Andy Carroll either tbh.
  14. At the moment, he's a big asset to a lower-to-mid table Premiership team, because although he's not that versatile, he is guaranteed to cause defences a certain amount of trouble. If your aim is survival or consolidation (as was the case with us when we came up), then he's your man. For teams who are aiming to win things, his movement doesn't look good enough for the kind of intricate interpassing and swapping of positions that teams like that use to open up defences. And they're the clubs who pay big wages and transfer fees. He's yet to prove that he can make that jump. Liverpool thought he could and have now changed their minds. None of the mega-clubs seem to think he's ready. Ashley, the arch-gambler, seems willing to take the chance. He could be proved right of course. Me, I'd go for Hoilett. He's not worth 15 million because he's not good enough to play in a side that can afford £15 million.
  15. Only seen him a couple of times in pre-season. He looks like a good header of the ball, likes to spray it out wide, not physical but energetic and composed. Possibly the next Guy Ipoua. Early days yet though and I am loathe to draw wild conclusions.
  16. Highly analytical scouting ffs. No need to have a go at someone expressing their first impressions of a player we recently signed.
  17. Judas and Barrabas. I only know that from reggae.
  18. I agree with this. Wether Pardew is proper up for it, or has just given the green light is a different matter though. Pardew was hired as a Yes Man, don't forget.
  19. I don't know if we'd ever be able to sell him for a profit at 15 million. He's clearly shown he's got issues with his confidence and can't face being away from home. I also doubt any club with more than 15 million to spend (the top 6) are ever going to want Andy Carroll anyway. Liverpool were fantastically stupid to spend that amount of cash on him, but they were desperate.
  20. People are speculating and reading into a few throw away quotes because it fits into their opinion that Carroll will not fit into the squad imo, they may be right on the latter part we'll have to see. As for Ashley's ego, he isn't going to spend £10m+ just for a laugh. Think about what yous are suggesting man, Mike Ashley, one of the countries top buisnessmen and a lover of money, is sanctioning a £13m bid for a player we don't want or need just to 'get one over' on Liverpool and satisfy his own ego? Not quite true that mate, I've said a few times that I'm open-minded about it. I don't really want Carroll back just because I know we can do better. Nowt to do with the player himself, he's a fine, above average player with a distinct set of attibutes etc. But he's never ever ever going to take us to the next level. He's just not as good as Ben Arfa, Colo, Tiote, Cisse or Cabaye. I haven't got an agenda, just don't think those quotes make pretty reading. As soon as I read the quotes it seemed weird, that's all I'm saying.
  21. What other deals have we done since Pardew has been here where he's said this or similar? Genuine question if there are any. How many of them happened while he was 1000 miles away from it? I just took that he meant he wasnt in the loop as he was concentrating on the pre-season work over there in Germany rather than anything else. Only the same as when we sent Llambias and Charnley out to Holland to discuss De Jong tbf. I'm not saying there's definitely anything untoward about this, but it's the first time that I can remember reading Pardew's comments on a potential signing and feeling unsure about whether he's actively involved in whether or not it's a good idea. Something they've always been at pains to point out since the whole management structure was changed back. Pardew clearly rates Carroll as a player, but that doesn't mean he believes he'd actually fit in with the current team. Much better than I put it.
  22. This is what I'm worried about. Obviously Pardew rates Carroll, and wouldn't be unhappy to get him, but in my opinion nothing has ever come of Chairmen/members of the board buying players for managers. If they don't fit in tactically, we'll either have a disjointed start to the season, trying to fit everyone into one formation, or we'll end up with one on the bench and start getting unhappy players who are worth double figures. Makes no sense to me.
