  1. It sounded totally non-committal from Pardew to me, like he doesn't know much about it. I'm happy with another body, but 13 million will get you a top class striker these days, and I'll be seriously pissed off if we buy another square peg (that will probably sit on the bench!) for this 4-3-3 we've been developing.
  2. Of course there's something strange in those quotes. Pardew himself wouldn't make a point of it twice in one interview if it wasn't unusual or if he was having a less than usual level of input into this transfer. The guy doesn't always talk like that, or have I even heard him say anything like that about transfers, so obviously it's being conducted in a different way. I'm presuming this is Ashleys idea tbh. Oh, he said it TWICE no less?! Call da police! What does that even mean? There's no argument there, if you have a problem with what I've said, rub a few brain cells together and tell me why what I'm assuming is wrong. Have you heard Pardew say anything about not being connected to a transfer before? Why would he therefore mention it twice in what looks like a 3-4 minute interview, if it wasn't at least playing on his mind?

  4. Saw Obertan coming on, decided to walk home instead of watching that
  5. Williamson looks capable yet uncomfortable against any level of competition.
  6. I'm scared of this. It's why I think we're going after AC, hence why I'm so vehemently against it. In that case the problem's Pardew though surely? Not Carroll. Aye, I wasn't totally sold on Luuk De Jong either, but descriptions of him gave a feeling of class/deft touch, which wouldn't have been the end of the world.
  7. I genuinely think you're daft. Barely any reasoning behind any of your arguments. As far as I know you've not really given a solid reason as to why it would be so stupid to just not bother getting Carroll. Try something else, maybe something that actually suits the way our team are going. posted for just such a bite. If you read my posts ive given every credible reason for signing him, for what he brings to the team, the squad, and the fact he fits the description of a striker Pardew gave. daft? Since when did winning an argument depend upon getting a bite ffs? Fucking hate shit like that. Every credible reason being : 1) He's massive and would be good to have on if we can't win by playing good football (sounds fantastic!). 2) Pards 'described' him. Well, 1 he would not be good to the team, since he broke the jaw of 1/2 of our first choice CB pairing, and 2, I'm sure Pardew has described buying players with versatility, where is Andy Carrolls versatility? Obviously if Pardew is the oracle you should also take this into account. who said anything about winning an argument? it was just banter. arguments can not be won on here- nobody changes thier mind, it just rolls on page after page. Excuse my naivety but I had presumed at least some of the more regular posters would be able to form opinions but still have them moulded by others arguments. Suggestions are made and opinions are changed, it's the whole reason for putting across your argument in the first place . Would you agree that we could buy a better striker who would fit in with our 433 better than Andy Carroll? In theory yes I would agree. In reality its not that easy , we could find him - fuck about etc, unable to agree term, miss out etc.whereas Carroll is on the table and offers something imo. id take him. That's it, the root of the disagreement. I think you're right, too. A known is definitely more reliable than an unknown quantity. I just reckon I know Andy C well enough to say, personally, I don't fancy it atm.

I'd find it difficult to disagree with that statement, and therefore it's a no-brainer for me. I always want the best for my club, and I don't think he is, tbh.

  12. Why do people say this shit? No idea How does it affect Neesys life exactly? Cringeworthy IMO.
  13. I don't think those 'blithering idiots' would ever spell holiday with a capital H. Classic.
  14. In the end I'd have faith in Pardew if I knew what he had planned with Carroll, like you say. The worry is that he fancies going 442 so we're defensively solid, sacrificing 2 of our most dangerous players, HBA (not a right winger) and Cabaye (looks far superior in a midfield 3), for Carroll up front.
  15. Ba is arguably the best striker at this club. Andy Carroll better than Ba is laughable, no matter what stats you pull out yer arse.
  16. Who says he's world class? And we're trying to get a knock down price because we're his hometown club, no other reason. you know I'm just kidding D-dawg.
  17. I wonder why no-one else is in for Carroll, btw? You'd think Chesea, Man Utd or at least Spurs would be in for a world class striker like Andy C, especially at a knock down price.
  18. I would totally have him in on a loan (with an option to buy) but in the end unless he somehow becomes far better than he is, I wouldn't condone buying him at the end of the loan. We've been begging for half decent football round these parts for years. Fucking Big Sam, Joe Kinnear, Graeme Souness, shit like that. We have a manager willing to try 433 (which I've been wanting us to do for years). If we got another HBA or Bellamy type in for 10 mill, we could rotate Ba and Cisse for the majority of the season trying out different players in the wide right and left positions. Asking for Caroll back is either getting 442 and hoof ball, or replacing one of Ba and Cisse at the figurehead of that 433. We all know both ba and Cisse are 10 times the player Carroll is. Loan (however unlikely ) = Okay, for another body/ACN Option to Buy = Okay 10 Million plus this summer = No way.
  19. To be honest dave, there are just as many articles saying we're in for a loan as there are ones saying we're buying. If both points aren't open to debate, then who gets to decide which reports are true?
  20. To say he hasn't shown anything is a bit unfair. He was good at the Euros. Was he good? I thought he was okay. Good is a bit much.
  21. If Andy Carroll is so fucking spectacular, why hasn't he shown ANYTHING since he left us? Is it because he needs an entire system to be based around him to score a few goals? Is it because he's actually not a particularly good footballer? Is it because he has massive confidence issues? All of these are reasons we shouldn't be spending lots of money on him, because we won't build our system around him, he won't link up with Cabaye and Ben Arfa like Cisse can, and he'll be in and out of the side, doing nothing for his confidence. Honestly, I liked him here the first time, but just because he was good for us as a newly promoted team, doesn't mean he's right for us when we want to be in the top 6.
  22. A proven goal scorer who can bully the f*ck out of opposition defences and hold the ball up. I'd say every team could do with a player like that. Considering Demba Ba is a heartbeat away from the physio room, will be gone for the ACN, and may well be leaving for more money anyway, who else is there at the club who meets that description? Seems like a no-brainer to me if the price is right. He's really not that great And what about Ba's injury record in the time he's been at Newcastle says him being 'A heartbeat away from the physio room'?
  23. WTF? How many right backs do we have? How many forwards do we have? Seems pretty straight forward to me, there are other areas that need strengthening other than 'target man'. I reckon we need another striker, yes, but not 'AC9'. We need someone with pace, someone to change the game and to stretch defences. A Bellamy type IMO. We're still going to sign a right back, and probably a centre back. How can you say that with confidence? You really think we're going to spend 7 million on debuchy after splashing out over 10 mill on carroll? I'm not convinced tbh. Anyway, my point still stands, why Carroll? We don't need his type of striker. Did you say the same after we bid £10m for De Jong? Not on here, but I didn't comment on here. My opinion is that we don't need him. I want to continue in the same way we have been developing. With technically good players who aren't afraid of posession, calm on the ball, who like to keep it on the floor. I don't want to give Williamson and/or Taylor the option to constantly fucking hoof it up to ANY cunts head. We did it for large parts of last season, and it'll just happen again.

We don't need his type of striker. didnt pardew say in one of his live interviews thats exactly what we do need. I'm talking about what I think we need, not Pardew. I'm not worried about blowing our budget on one player, but I don't doubt that we do have a budget, and I don't fancy 10 million + of it being spent on Andy Carroll.
