If Dyer is holding out for £2 million as a loyalty bonus then he can rot for all I care, that will take his £6 million down to £4 million and it puts out a message that we'll bow to the pressure. If the club is taking a stand on this then they're doing the right thing as it will make people think twice in future. If we'd done this with Bellamy we would have got more than the £4 million that Blackburn paid for him. This club has given Dyer more than enough money and support over the years.

I don't see it as an idiotic move, if Dyer does play up then we can do to him what we did to Robert when we farmed him out but were still paying his wages, we can fine him. We're sending out a message that we're not mugs and will not just go along with what Dyer or West Ham want us to go along with. Bowing to a player or another club would have been idiotic. We're no longer going to be a soft touch and will only benefit from this stance in future when we're dealing with other clubs and players.

I didn't have a problem with the last decade at all, I had problems with certain things which happened during that time but not with everything. It's like everything in life that you don't like, you put up with it and then something goes wrong and you say "enough is enough." I got to that point when Shepherd announced that Bobby was to leave the club at the end of the year, that was the thing that made me think that we were being run by an idiot. From that point Bobby had no authority with the players because they knew he was going to be leaving the club before them. The decision to not give him a new contract isn't what I had a problem with, it was announcing it to the press. That was the turning point when Shepherd became a liability and everything until recently went down-hill from that moment. I know that Douglas Hall probably had as much to do with Robson going, that's not the point, Shepherd dropped the bollock of announcing it to everybody, that was the mistake that turned Bobby into a lame duck, not finishing him, that's why we got Souness and that's also why we got Roeder, that's why we've wasted the last 3 years.

I can't see why you ask Baggio "Whats your problem." It would appear that you have the problem, he seems quite happy the way things are going and he's seeing exactly the same as you are. As for the debt infringing much on the policy/strategy of the club, Mort has said that our level of debt will not stop us signing players so it clearly isn't getting in the way. They are clearly not happy with the debt and are going to do something about it, by that I don't mean living with it or adding to it. You are pleased that we are standing up to West Ham then say you're not particularly happy that we'll possibly waste money, we've been wasting money for years and that's why we're in debt, for far too long we've been mugs, we've bought high and sold low, at least that may now be a thing of the past. Again you tie spending to ambition, spending isn't a sign of ambition, wanting to take the club forwards is ambition and it doesn't matter if that costs money or makes us money, its ambition. The fact that you only see spending as being a sign of ambition is your problem. Spending can be a sign of ambition but it can also just be a sign of trying to appease people who can be bluffed into thinking it's ambition, spending is easy, getting value for money isn't.

I agree with that, I'd forgot that he's been with West Ham during the summer, it stinks really. It's good to see that we're no longer getting taken for mugs.

Why on earth does these same old arguments keep turning up on the different threads? The answer is above the question.

I remember when we played Spurs in an earlier round of the cup at St James, and we slaughtered Spurs, I think Ginola might have scored and was eventually taken off, the booing was incredible, I can't really remember anybody getting that much stick. On a side note to that one, I think I remember Dyer coming on as sub and playing a blinder.

    That c*** Oliver

During the Hitzfeld campaign a lot of people e-mailed Oliver and crashed his e-mail for days, I wouldn't be against some sort of campaign to crash it again if it was done right and other forums got involved, most if not all hate the bloke. People would have to go on other forums and tell people to send e-mails all at the same time and it would have to be some time in the future to allow throw away accounts to be set up.

    St James' Park

Technology moves on as new materials become available, the East Stand could be extended but probably not in the same way as the other 3 ends, they would possibly even have to demolish what we already have and start again, I don't think anybody can stop the club from going up, just out. The technological advances which have occurred so far can be seen when you look at the designs of new and old grounds, these days we have larger roofs but nobody sits behind an obstruction which is holding the roof up. If the ground went up it would need a lot of work as all of the weight of the extra height would probably still be spread over the same sort of area.
  15. The mackems have never played in the UEFA, I thought they were going to do it two years running, they bragged a lot but fell short in the end, I must admit I enjoyed seeing them fail but not as much as I enjoyed them going down to the third, that was historic.
  16. Enrique was supposed to have been involved in a friendly or something and left, I'm sure I read something like that so maybe he's on his way, it would be a good idea to get him in the ground on Sunday so he can see what sort of crowd we get for a meaningless friendly. He must be interested anyway or he would have remained with the squad insted of leaving.

Well done, you've found the right forum. Everybody has had a lift, not just because we might have signed 2 or 3 players. We've got a new owner, a new manager, new players and have moved on a lot of dross. We've been under a cloud for years and that cloud has gone so the negativity will go with the cloud. What's wrong, do you feel you've become redundant?
  19. If Owen had been fit for most of his time here then he'd be our most valuable player, he hasn't been, he's been a waste of time, I hope he can regain and keep his fitness because we'd be a better team for having him.
  20. I don't think people blame him, it's just crazy that he's rarely ever fit to play for us.
  21. I've just read it in The Times, back to normal injuries for him.
