  1. You don't need to put your name after your question. Yes, spin. We had more than one chairman during that time so highlighting what quite a few have done isn't relevant when trying to compare like with like. I've said in another thread that I wouldn't use our trophy haul as a way at having a go at Shepherd because it wouldn't be fair on him as it was achieved by more than one chairman.
  2. I thought it was coming back anyway once we got close to the window. Aye so did I! Bluf is clueless. bluebiggrin.gif
  3. I thought it was coming back anyway once we got close to the window.
  4. NE5, you really look stupid once again, you'll defend Shepherd to the bitter end regardless of what he does, you're a one off, even your biggest supporter on here seems to have a boundry when supporting Shepherd, you don't. You've dug yourself a massive hole with the way you've defended Shepherd, I don't know how you can get out of this position you've backed yourself into but it will probably be funny watching it.
  5. If you didn't think I would then why ask? The 30+ years are not made up, they weren't under one chairman either so are not relevant to the thread which they were in. If the league position had mentioned who was chairman then it would have been more relevant, it's like me listing all of the trophies we've won and saying that is proves Shepherd is shit, I wouldn't do that because it's a distortion of the facts, just like the 30+ years is a distortion of the facts when trying to prove Shepherd is good. Give your head a shake.
  6. Where have I said I'm against signing big money signings? I'm only against doubling the price we pay for an injury prone striker when the money could have been spent in a way that would have done more for the team. Liverpool bid £8 million so we should have gone in at £9 million, not £16 or £17 million. If we have to pay record fee's for people because they will improve the side and we'll get value for money then it's the right thing to do. The question about league position isn't in this thread so stop side tracking to kill the thread that we're in.
  7. We didn't go the extra mile for Owen, we virtually doubled what our only rival for his signature was prepared to pay for him, more NE5 spin. Plenty of us thought Owen wasn't a good signing because we felt his injury record was poor and that has been shown to be true, even if the injuries are not what we expected. How the hell can you say that "The club is in the financial state it is in because of wasting transfer money on Boumsong and Luque, rather than Owen." Owen had only been involved in 11 games in more than 12 months, so far he's been a big part of the problem and I will put a months wages on him not selling for what we paid for him. Oh Dear. How much will we lose when Luque joins Boumsong in the departure lounge ..... You still haven't commented or gave a response to those league positions ? I'm pleased you think qualifying for europe regularly is no different to being in the 2nd division regularly. You're making yourself look like an idiot again, the money we lose on Luque and have lost on Boumsong is not a reason to make losing money on Owen any better or acceptable, think before you type.
  8. Gullit resigned but don't let facts get in the way of a good argument, if you were a supporter then you would have known that. Resigned before he was sacked. But as usual, macbeths monkey distorts facts and doesn't answer truthful information ie the post containing all our factual league positions over the last 30+ years. No facts were distorted by me, they were distorted by your brother, Gullit resigned, fact. He was not sacked so that is a distortion of the facts you fool.
  9. No I'm not going to explain that, it was Shepherd not taking notice of his manager, the manager who brought Shepherd his best 3 seasons while being given the least amount of money per season since Ardilles was manager and right up to this day. The man who probably generated the most money for the club was given the least to invest in the squad, Fact. Shepherd invests our money at the wrong times, he backs the wrong managers the most and he does it to bail himself out in desperation when things go wrong, fact.
  10. Keegan was a trophy signing. Big player, past his best, designed to make the fans think you are a big club, when you are in the 2nd division and have no intention of living up to your potential. However, a premiership club playing in europe don't make trophy signings, they make quality signings designed to go higher and win the trophies. These are players that the clubs above you want, because its the only way you will catch them and beat them. Understand ? Was Owen a trophy signing?

  13. unbelievable. I will leave macbeth - and maybe his monkey - to explain that Carr cost a lot less money and maybe he felt at that time he needed to watch the books. I wait for you to post in future criticising the club for overspending. As classic a case of "damned if they do damned if they don't" as it would be possible to find. And for the record, I would have liked Miguel, I think he is one of the best right backs going. So it makes better financial sense to sign a poor right back who's on the decline, than to sign one of the best going that would easily hold his price? That's watching the books? Perhaps it's this kind of financial sense that sees us take losses on players so often? Huh, NE5? People are discussing financial outlay, and that alone. You can't criticise the club for spending more than they have, or should, then on the other hand say they should have spent more than they did. The decision on the respective merits of the player rests with the manager and the manager alone. If the club didn't have the money to buy Miguel, then the manager has to lower his budget and find an alternative. This is the policy that macbeth, his monkey and others advocate. The club did precisely that. MY opinion is that the club should have gone the extra mile and bought Miquel, but I always say this. The ONLY thing that matters is quality, but macbeth and his monkey and others put money first. Having said that, would you or would you not say that as an expensive player, he would be a "trophy player", or does that only apply if they flop :winking: The club haven't always overspent, they've only done it in spells and the major one was on Souness, £50 million on a manager who was clearly shit is beyond belief to most people except for Shepherd.
  14. Don't think you can blame Fat Fred for Bellamy and Robert. While I agree they should not have been sold there positions were made impossible by Souness. Who brought Souness to the club to sort these players out? My mistake, it was Ozzie.
  15. Agreed, although i think sbr sacking was just! I agree about the sacking being just, he should have been sacked for 3rd, 4th and 5th, we wouldn't be where we are today if we hadn't sacked him, we've never looked back since.
  16. He arrived in December 97, opened his mouth in a brothel and resigned durning March 98 and legged it for a few months then returned in December 1998. http://www.nufcmismanagement.info/shepherd-facts.html
  17. Shepherd became chairman durign 97-98 season. Four lower half finishes, four upper. This season will have him either averaging either top or bottom. Excellent set of stats though, does that make you as boring as me :winking: You'll have to get used to the fact that some people will just not believing them though, and adding your own personal comment is very dangerous  Was the time you mention not his return from disgrace?
  18. He'll have been sitting at home in front of the mirror practicing for his next icnewcastle video. bluebiggrin.gif
  19. It is strange to read a 'secret' in a newspaper. I also found this strange in Alan Oliver's "Flight of fancy" article on ICNewcastle: - "While I was waiting at the luggage carousel at Heraklion Airport I picked up a text from Glenn Roeder saying that United had been drawn in the hardest group in the competition." Our manager text messages a journalist to let him know the UEFA draw? Surely not? Probably, he wouldn't find out any other way! Sad but true.
  20. My first reaction on seeing the thread was to look left to see if it was a poll. bluebiggrin.gif
  21. I've said Shepherd is no better than the chairman of the past, fact. If you want to make a case for Shepherd then go through and add who was the chairman at the time to we can compare like for like, we can then look to see who has taken us further backwards while in office. The others will not have the financial clout that Freddy was handed on a plate but we'll put that to one side as nobody can say how much they actually did have for sure. We do know that the game has never had as much money so it can be taken for granted that Freddy isn't at a disadvantage on that score.
  22. This is totally out of character for a Chronicle employee to base an article on shite information by that I mean him using the old information as if current. The Chronicle are still the club apologists despite all of the stick they've been getting.
  23. Is Roeder going to pay for these players by personal cheque? If not then I think an official bid might alert the club in question is to who is buying.
  24. If you've read the book then from what you've said on here I get the impression that you only looked at the pictures, you clearly have as many problems reading books as you do reading posts on here. You go on about Man U losing money on Beardsley, they didn't lose a penny as far as I'm aware, and it wasn't mentioned in the book. The money was a returnable deposit and I'm sure they got it all back. You've quoted me ad saying that Beardsley was "well known," that's just you cherry picking again, I said he was well known enough for Man U to be interested in him, not the unknown that he was made out to be earlier in this thread. If he was unknown then Man U would not have gone after him in the first place , try thinking for a change. I've read the "interesting post by kiwi" and I am truly indebted that he's pointed out that macbeth's a T*** (my words not his) for not highlighting that our catering is so good, bad macbeth. The next time I sit in a freezing cold stand watching crap, I'll think back to the time I found out that our catering (something Freddy knows a lot about) was held with such high regard. I think somebody should come up with a match day song so that we can tell everybody how well our catering side of the business is going. so what you are saying is that manure buy nothing other than well known players --- another gem. And let them go for less than they paid, and you didn;t reply why he went to Canada, and why no one other than us were interested in buying him ..... if you know anything about the link, you will know that the only reason we had heard of him was because of a tip from Bob Moncur. But keep making things up....fantastically funny ... Why did he piss off to Liverpool ? In fact why didn't he sign for them in the first place, if he was so well known and Liverpool being less than an hour from Manchester......... Where did I say Man U only buy well known players? Another lie developed between the lugs of NE5. bluebiggrin.gif I've highlighted it to make it easier to remember what you said yourself. but if he was so well known, why didn't he go to a top club, like Liverpool at the time ? Why not try answering or engaging your brain ? I'm sure everyone else on here can work out the answer to that ..... Keep making things up. bluesleep.gif bluesleep.gif bluesleep.gif bluesleep.gif I'll let those who can read decide, this has become really boring, even by your standards.
