  1. Carrol and Noan doing well, Routledge looking lively but things not going his way at the moment.
  2. Hughton will probably make you reluctantly eat you own words after we play shit for 80 minutes but then win with a Kevin Nolan hattrick.
  3. Butt Smith Nolan all on at the same time, looks like it's going to be a static game.
  4. 3-0 to the Toon. Either an early three goals with a poor second half, or look woeful all game then poke three in a landslide in the last ten minutes with the opposing manager commenting that Newcastle's clinical finishing made the difference.
  5. To be honest Ashley paid over the top for players and our club did make a lot of transfer noise under his regime as well. I think the real change is the manager. Hughton is doing the business quietly and efficiently, I think Ashley is actually backing him properly after he was revealed by the Keegan court case.
  6. Luque, thought he'd be fucking brilliant, well he was fucking...
  7. Put Nile under Shearer's wing for a year or two and he'll be flying
  8. If we get decent cover for Enrique, then perhaps.
  9. You actually watched the whole game again just to analyze Colo's game....oh my! From what I see Colo is a more gifted footballer whereas Taylor has better workrate.
  10. Nicky Butt fears this could be his last season. Newcastle united fears that this might not.

Can someone remind me...where the FUCK Ashley got Kinnear from? I mean, how in the world did he know about him?

do you think if they don't there aren't others we could loan in ? As in, make a signing during a transfer window? Dunno like. well we have in the past. Not very often though
  13. Which is what? That we're getting better results against weaker sides? Yeah what a miraculous turn around. Just because its the managers job doesnt mean you ignore the situation and write them off if its not instantly achieved. So one manager gets 5 points from eight games in a harder division, but with a better squad. Performances weren't exactly good, there seemed to be no new manager "bounce", and the squad's general attitude didn't seem to improve that much, but we had been in free-fall most of the season to be fair. Its pretty hard to show an improvement in form when five of your eight fixtures are Chelsea (h), Liverpool (a), Spuds (a), Villa (a) and Stoke (a). It's pretty hard to get a seriously depleted squad of kids and players who were so awful the previous season that they got relegated to play well enough to get 22 points from nine games. Especially when you've had no money to spend, your club is in the middle of a crisis/takeover, you're not a permanent manager and if the takeover happens could be out of a job, etc, etc, etc. Like I said, it's a toss up between them. Neither are proven good managers, we could do better. To state it implicitly, in case anyone is in any doubt: I am not saying Hughton is the man for the job, I am simply saying that his record is at least comparable to Shearer's, yet no-one thinks he is good enough whereas a lot of people think Shearer is good enough for some reason. That reason is nothing to do with his record as a manager, it is based upon something else entirely. Personally I'm inclined to think just about any manager could do as well as he's done, we simply have far better players then most other teams in this league. Not saying we need to replace Hughton right now obviously. But long term I'd have Shearer over Hughton any day. Why? Based upon what? Because he's a geordie presumably. There can't be any other reason. there are other reasons, but right now I'd rather have Hughton I'm guessing it's because right now the team are settled and organised under Hughton, a manager change might be nothing more but a distraction/disruption in our promotion push, however once we do get promoted it's hard to see that Hughton has the ability to keep us up.
  14. Speak for yourself there... Ditto. I thought it a ridiculous appointment, that would only end producing more problems than it solved. (and said so here at the time) Yes but 3 days before that matty pattison told me roedant was to become permanent and i lumped on a 33-1!!!!! Lovely how you cut out the rest of my post, go have a look in the thread that opened up when Roeder was first appointed, (if it's still there) there were only a few posters who were outraged against the decision, most fans were perhaps slightly disappointed as they wanted someone of a higher clibre but they did not disagree to the level of protest.
  15. Lets not be fooled by hughton's abilities. I think this season is what I would call a 'Roeder season'. When Roeder was caretaker manager we finished 7th, players were calling him to be given the full time job, we were happy when he was appointed. The next season we finished 14th I believe and we just couldn't take our game to any team in the league. Lets not be fooled by the same trick twice.

    RIP sale thread.

Moat claimed to have backing from a US source who isn't willing to deal with Ashley at all & won't surface until the takeover is complete. With decent backing we should have the funds to buy some new players in January to push for promotion & then again to build the squad up when we get promoted. Could be bollocks though. If it is just Moat on his own then it'll be difficult, he certainly doesn't have a lot of cash of his own so the purchase of the club would be funded by loans which would need repaying which could leave us in a hole, needing to sell more players to cover costs & with no additional funds for new players. Hope this is true, we will need a lot of fresh faces if we're to stay up. Our squad is weaker than last year, we're getting a couple of result because one our competition is crap, and two the dead wood has been cleared out and players are motivated. But overall our squad is considerably weaker than last year. Yes many clubs stay up with a combination of good scouting and good management and without splashing the cash (stoke being an example), however to build a team like that requires a lot of time under stable management. It seems that most Newcastle fans though, I myself included are quite strictly hoping to be promoted this season and to stay up. I'm not sure if thats entirely possible, I think if we sign a couple of players in January, we have a great chance of promotion, however staying up next year is going to be extremely hard. Especially if, as you've mentioned, Moat doesn't have enough backing and he has to pay off the takeover loans. But I guess Roger would be quite right in that the overdraft would never be sanctioned in the first place if Moat didn't have finances above the asking price. Hopefully the difficulty in Moat meeting the 100 million pound asking price was due to him wanting to invest as much money as he can into the club after the takeover, rather than him just simply not being able to meet it. All in all, Ashley gave us no chance to build and prepare for this season, so I won't be complaining at all if the Moat takeover goes through, I'd be in fact, delighted. At least Moat will give us a chance to prepare and build for our season next year (whether we go up or stay down), but I don't want to fall in the trap of becoming too optimistic.
