  1. So our scouting system has now gone beyond Football Manager and into Wikipedia?
  2. Well it could work well, definately a good idea, but can Roeder execute it? The same idea can work when we're playing co-ordinated, slick football, but I don't know how it's going to work under Roeder. The idea is good though, Ameobi holding up play, martins taking attacking runs, and Owen with a free role to poach as many goals as he can. Brilliant idea, not sure if Roeder can execute it.
  3. Stevie, is that George Bush in your display picture?
  4. Hmm I like the calm, collective Roeder of last season, who never commented to speculation, and never said a word wrong in interviews. The last couple of months, he's been rather noisy.

    MON the saviour

I agree, it does say a lot. You lot can probably see the improvements made and that he is taking the club in the right direction. Wouldn't be surprised to see you finish top 6. I'd be surprised to see it next season, but it is hard to express properly to people who haven't witnessed it at close quarters just how much the club was run down by Ellis over the last 10 years or so in particular. There are a lot of things to be put right off the pitch as well as on it, and the progress off the pitch thus far this year has been nothing short of staggering. So long as the fruits of this success are then aimed at getting things right on the pitch, and evidence so far suggests they will be, then things are looking very bright indeed. Anyone (Villa supporter or not) who thought that MON was going to put things right in the first season is way wide of the mark. so what you're saying is it's reasonable to accept poor performance from a new manager, even possible relegation, because you're looking for a long term rebuilding exercise of a totally f***** club? radical Yes of course, just like us.

    I love Newcastle

I think the club desperately needs stability. So I think Roeder should stay for around two or three seasons, until everything settles and our team builds. Then we can sack him and get a class manager.
  7. So our injury crisis is over?
  8. Great news for us, he better not be rushed, I hope he is dealt with the same patience that Dyer was dealt with.
  9. Then does that mean another contract for Bernard?
  10. I like our current kit better, but it aint too bad, I mean like, I can live with it for two years, it's sorta what we deserve atm anyway. Two years later when we can actually challenge for europe again, we can get a good kit.

    Cocky Glenn

So the excuses have started then?
  12. Few and far between? Off the top of my head: Fulham Charlton Boro Sheffield Utd Everton Birmingham Fulham (again) Wigan Most of those games were when Glenn was too stubborn/scared to make decisions early, where he'd leave his subs until the 80th minute, his decisions would have an impact but there wasn't enough time left to make it count. Glenn used to, not be quite so paranoid about making early decisions, but after that game against Aston Villa, where he subbed emre off early, then Martins got injured with all subs used, after that game he's been making his subs very very late, and is often too scared to make changes, he needs to get over this, and take more chances. After the villa match, many people on this forum said, well at least Glenn had a go, back-fired but unlucky, but on the matches where he made subs in the 80th minute, and refused to respond to the changing game-flow, many posters vented their frustration.
  13. http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,1780_1953086,00.html Oh boy.
  14. Yes..a Luque, but atleast Babel is 8 years younger. I just hope that Roeder gives Babel the same amount of patience and faith that he gave to Martins, since it's his singing, he most likely will.. But about this Babel lad, can he play as a target-man? Is he strong in the air? Is he physical enough and does he hold up play and link up well enough to be an ideal partner for Martins?
  15. Looking forward to it, the sacking of Fred that is.
  16. If we had no money then Glenn should've made signings like Campbell on a free at the start of the season.
  17. He was part of the central partnership which did not concede or conceded only 1 goal during the whole of the world cup qualifiers was he not? But he's no better than our defence? Ofcourse completely ignoring the fact that the same partnership conceded 6 goals against Argentina 8)
  18. Sorry fellas, I aint been on here a lot over the festive period unlike you lot Not a real fan tbh cynicism you can only see on this board.
  19. Missed him Hurts because it's so true, can't say anything more to that, it's the truth just there, f'ing shepherd.
  20. It was then. Hughes was a very consistent right-back and that was the year that O'Brien was fairly solid. Dabizas blew hot and cold but was rock hard at times. Elliott, fair enough, average as ever. Dyer/Solano - dynamite. Speed, veteran - spine of the team, he held it together more than Shearer did in my opinion. Shearer/Bellamy was a good partnership n'all. Daft comment really, Invicta. don't agree at all I agree with Invicta, only thing I don't agree about is that Shearer would've been a couple of times better than Martins...Other than that, the reason that our average defenders were 'very consistent', 'fairly solid' 'rock hard at times' was because Bobby organised them well. Give our team now to Bobby and I believe he will do equally good with our current squad as he did back then.
