  1. Aye, mine too. Even if it goes to court we probably won't know that much more - hopefully it won't come to that anyway. in a way but it may be the only way to conclude it. many people will believe keegan regardless while a minority will believe that if keegan doesn't take it to court it is because he has no case. either way it's going to leave a nasty taste. the court route may be better in the long run if ashley plans on staying. Not sure, to be honest I'd be surprised if any legal action was taken by either side. Keegan hasn't denied that he resigned has he? So he wouldn't have much of a case against the club that I can think of. What would he sue them for, or what would they sue him for? Exactly, If the club go anywhere near to taking KK to court over this then that'll definately be them finished at Newcastle. Doesn't matter if they believe they are 100% right, that for most, would be the final straw.
  2. Probably been said before, but........... ........fill the ground, sing for the whole game with more than a few Keegan chants hoyed in. Teams gets great support, point gets put across and everyone else gets it off their chest. Result.
  3. Oh dear, more crossed wires.. Wise said the system would work in such and such a way, Keegan said he was happy about it, then six months later Keegan is unhappy and the club come out and say the system now no longer works such and so and never has done, but it has always worked in quite a different way. From this turn of events, if you manage to conclude Keegan is the party doing the lying for having said he was happy with the system yet walking out six months later is ridiculous. As I´ve said before: there is a discrepancy between what he said then and what he said now because he was misled, like we all were. No crossed wires here at all. I presume you've made up your mind that KK is blameless in this and its all the clubs fault. Maybe it is, but maybe it isn't. I've said before I believe there is about a 50/50 split on this. When Wise and KK said what they said (haven't got the actual quotes, but got the general gist of both) maybe one of them wasn't telling the whole truth, maybe both.......or maybe both were actually telling the truth at that time. If the latter, and i'm more inclined to go along with that, then you have to ask what changed. Did the club decide to change the DOF's role in spite of KK, or because of KK? Of course Keegan isn't totally blameless, but from what we are seeing and from the different statements by the club and club representatives in Keegan´s tenure it´s clear to me that they have shifted the goal posts, and while that may have been acceptable to some other managers (not many mind you) everybody who knows Keegan knows he would have not accepted it. Which leaves me with only 3 options: 1) they didn't know or research KK before appointing him, in which case I would call that gross negligence and they deserve every ounce of s*** they get for abusing a Toon legend 2) the did know this would happen, in which case I wonder what game they are playing at. They would have still abused KK's reputation for some ulteriour motive or 3) the change in structure wasn't planned from the offset but just kind of developped that way and it all came to burst on the last day of the transfer window. Whilst I think this is a very likely scenario, I would class this as a huge mistake in internal communication, and again the club deserves most of the blame. The way they are currently handling the aftermath of this isn't doing them any favours either. They come across as two-faces snakes contradicting themselves publicly in the space of a few months.. I agree, option 3 is the way I feel its gone so far, but until we get more than the short, sharp club statements and LMA press releases we're all going to have to wait and see 'why' it changed. I think your right but it was also option 1 too. They would surely of not allowed the situation to develop into what it did if they knew much about him as a person. Possible, but not probable, KK's pro's and con's are well known by everyone, even those with no interest in football. At best they either thought they could persuade him to accept the new order or its no.3, for reason's no-one's saying - yet.

  6. Fair and level-headed post. No club ever says what its transfer budget is, and even then it'll be a moving figure as sales are added (or not) to it. The 'no comment on transfers' line on the statement can be read a couple of ways, some are seeing it as the rule is being specific towards KK, I see it as a club policy to try and not disclose transfer dealings by anyone connected with the club and only declare them once done or near enough done.....Jonas, Collo, Milner etc
  7. I've read and re-read the clubs statement now, the only thing wrong with it is its shortness and the fact that it should have at least attempted to sound concillitory towards KK. Much has been made of the quotes from Wise, can't argue with facts. He said it, he either meant it (at the time) or didn't. To give a flip to this, is it much different from KK going on to say he was happy with the set-up? If you take the statement as true, or at least acknowledge that it's close to the truth then what were they supposed to do? And another thought, and be honest, if it had been ANY manager apart from KK, who'd resigned, would we be so raged?
  8. Ashley is getting a lot of stick from some fans although nobody knows what part he's played in all of this, if any. Keegan has done what he's done in the past, he's walked away from a managers job when things haven't gone his way. I'll reserve judgement before deciding who has come out of it the worst. Ashley appointed Wise on a premise that he failed to stick to You won't have long to wait for proof that the goalposts were moved on Keegan. I'll say no more... Howay man, spit it out. Facts and specifics have been a bit thin on the ground recently...... I'm told a statement from Ashley, which won't do him any favours, is imminent He's going to release a statement putting himself in a bad light? Ballsy if true.

  10. Thats the thing though, there's nothing new coming to 'light' other than speculation and wishful thinking. We'll have to wait until we hear from 'both' sides in this before the real facts, if ever, are presented. Some see KK as being the innocent fall guy in this and the board being 100% to blame, me FWIW I see it nearer 50/50.
  11. We'd have sold the same amount or near enough the same if KK hadn't been appointed. Second paragraph is true though Do you really think so? There were a few thousand missing for the Bolton game. The people who haven't bought new season tickets have been sickened off by the Souness, Roeder and Allardyce years. I think without keegan there would have been even less people. We may find out next season. I do tbh, we have a great (fantastic if lack of success/silverware is factored in) core support who would still renew if Gary Glitter was manager (slight exageration, but you know what I mean). Their are more financial worries affecting the attendance than board/manager worries. We've had worse times than this recently and still held our own, no guarantees we'll carry on doing so, but I do reckon it would take more than this to hugely affect season ticket sales. IMHO of course.

  13. Maybe because he'll understand the reasoning behind it, maybe because he'll have worked like that before (abroad) and maybe he isn't so prone to throwing his rattle oot the pram when he doesn't get his own way. Maybe, of course.
  14. There'll be a week of fan mourning then we'll get on with it. Shame there isn't a game on this weekend.
  15. Wise may have been a nasty cunt as a player, and (apparantly) left Leeds under a cloud but while he's been here, I can't recollect anything he's done thats merited this. He appears to be fulfilling his job responsibilities well enough.
  16. Good post. It shouldn't have been too difficult to get this to work, looks to me like one side (KK?) being too pig-headed/proud to compromise. As you say, shame as it had showed more positives than negatives so far.
  17. Appointing KK in the first place was a high-risk strategy to begin with. It was only going to go two ways, he'd take us forward and upwards, or walk. No-one comes out of this well.
  18. Having the tallest defenders doesn't make you the best defense, although against Bolton it'll probably make more of a direct difference than against any other team in the prem.
  19. Cracking result, and a much, much better than hoped for performance. Was well pleased when Carrick went off, after that point it was 50/50 in the middle.
  20. he wont play two up front but will play a link man between the one up front and the mifield. Was a longer winded way of saying I think he'll go 4-3-3 planning (hoping) that Jonas and the other one has the energy to keep chasing back to prop up the midfield for 90mins. Had seen a couple of posts (and lots without to be fair) with two or one + one then the midfield with two wide men, thats ok at home or against the supposed poorer teams, but not away at OT.
  21. I think KK will go with a safety-first attitude on Sunday tbh. If he plays two wingers (or wide midfielders?) Jonas and Duff/Zog/Milner, then I can see him playing just Martins up front and another three in midfield.....Butt, Geremi & Guthrie. Playing two wingers and two up front is just asking to be ripped a new one away at OT.
  22. Risky if you ask me, Romania are a good team and will keep it tight. Thinking of putting a tenner on Romania to qualify out of their group. Would laugh me tits off if two of the 'big' teams didn't make it through....
  23. Sky did the same for me a few years ago for me when I called to cancel. Got 25% off for a year. ...and couldn't give a flying f*** when I called them to cancel. Luck of the draw. It is like, they knocked a tenner a month off for me. They probably use a quota system, you probably caught them at the wrong time Dave
