Worst thing about the Barton stuff is you know the fans loved him and wanted him to stay, the manager has gone on record saying he has no problem with the player and wanted him to stay and then you read all the players interviews in the press in the last couple of days, Colo, Tiote, Gosling, Simpson and others all heaping praise on him and saying how important he is and Ashley and Llambias make a ridiculous decision to give him away for nothing. Surely they could have been big enough men to get together and sort the difference out. As a result NUFC are much weaker on and off the pitch. Pardew has lost some respect as a result, he should surely have been stronger and made the board realise on a footballing level Barton should stay and if he did have to leave at least get a fee for him, even if it was £1m its better than letting him walk away for nowt. QPR probably would have paid upto £3m if we'd asked for a fee anyway with Fernandes coming in and splashing the cash.

i couldn't believe all the rubbish that was coming out before the game with them being rubbish, buying crap players etc. Add the fact of the feel good factor and pumped up crowd making it a kind of cup game atmosphere it was never going to be an easy game for us. I'd have took a point at the start of the game and was delighted when we came away with a point after watching the game. They were gettable at the back though but sadly we were toothless and poor in the attacking third and with us losing the midfield battle never got a period of decent possession in the game where we could look to build up some of our own pressure and hurt them.

Poor performance but another clean sheet, an away draw and still unbeaten. We'll probably play 3 times better than that this season against someone and end up getting beat.

Erm while i agree that Santon should have probably played tonight, surely the bigger picture is that we kept a clean sheet without him and Santon got to watch the game close up from the bench to get an understanding of the English game. He probably learnt quite a bit just watching and taking in the speed of the game.

Still early days but i wouldn't start the lad, think he'd be better used as an impact sub. For a supposedly quick player he doesn't attack his player very much, loads of times today he had the opportunity to relieve some of our pressure by just getting his head down and bombing down the line but after running about 15 yards stopped and played a pass backwards.

i'd go with an extra midfielder, probably Gosling alongside Tiote pushing Cabaye slightly more forward, play one up front, toss up between Best & Ba. Oh and bring Santon in for raylor. The impending birth of Raylors baby may take the decision out of Pardews hands anyway. KRUL SIMO SAYLOR COLO SANTON GOSLING TIOTE MARV CABAYE JONAS BA or BEST Tonight was always going to be a tough game, newly promoted side, everyone buzzing and the crowd up for it. Saturday should be different, will be going to a ground which will be 3/4 full and if we keep it tight and frustrate them there fans will turn on there team and manager.

i normally try to defend Shola but he was truly woeful tonight and he gave an abject performance. You know that he's not going to be running into channels and stretch teams but at least he normally manages to hold the ball up, relieve some pressure and bring players into the game but he was even struggling to do that, think he done it a couple of times. He probably had his best part of the match in the ten minutes before he was subbed. One of those games where not only did it look like his boots were on the wrong feet but also filled with cement!

Chelsea have ploughed millions into their academy in recent seasons, presumably Roman wants the club developing and bringing through its own players rather than him having to dip his hand in his pockets. They've dominated the FA youth cup in the last few seasons, winning it and getting to the final and semis in other years. They beat the Aston Villa side that beat us in the semi comfortably in the two legged final.

Didn't the Chronicle originally say that they were sending the questions to Llambias when they first asked for the questions to be submitted, now i see its the board that will answer them. I can see Derek dumping these questions on Lee Charnley's desk and say go on Lee answer them for me please.

little snippet from .com from this day in 2009... 2009 Having been beaten in their opening two league fixtures of the season by Aston Villa and Watford, it was a case of third time lucky for United's Academy side as they beat Manchester City 3-1 at Darsley Park. Goals from Brad Inman, Phil Airey and Sammy Ameobi ensured that the points stayed on Tyneside - the latter having entertained those present with his unique playing style and a pair of purple boots seemingly borrowed from a circus.

Barton and Nolan were offered £25k a week plus bonus. nee idea what the bonuses consisted of.
-
he'll be offered £25k a week, which he will reject and will be sold.

the Newcastle team/squad has been confirmed today, its... Pavel Srnicek Steve Watson Darren Peacock Steve Howey Brian Kilcline John Beresford Rob Lee Lee Clark Ruel Fox Paul Bracewell Keith Gillespie Liam O'Brien Alan Shearer Les Ferdinand Tino Asprilla Mark Allison

if he's not sacked cos of the assault he'll be shipped out on loan as soon as the loan window for league clubs opens up.

HBA just needs to win the mental battle now, hopefully he can because sadly if he doesn't i fear he'll only be 70% of the player he was before the injury. Got to say the lad has been horrendously unlucky, that tackle he got in America was a shocker and unfortunately resulted in a really bad twist to his ankle of his previously injured leg.

good timing by ashley to remove the sign, gets into the news now and everyone kicks off a fuss but with over 3 weeks till the next home game the furore will have subsided somewhat. Obviously it'll kick off again when fans walk into SJP for the Blackburn game and see whatever has been put up there for themselves.

No, I'm pretty sure Chris Mort said as much once they bought the club and saw the books - Club sponsorship money had been used in one hit for Owen, hence no future sponsorship money in the pot. Cheers mate, thought it was right. When does Northern Rock expire? He'll walk into another 20m+ when the next shirt sponsor comes along, wonder how much of that will be reinvested. pretty sure the Northern Rock deal was just recently renewed, not sure how long the deal is for though.

do we still own the training ground & academy now, when we were relegated and we needed our overdraft extended i'm sure i read somewhere that we signed over those assets(training ground/academy) to Barclays. May have just been used as a guarantee or something.

Is Mike Ashley the worst person ever to have been associated with NUFC?
binnsy replied to AlanSkÃrare's topic in Football
if the debt was manageable why were halls desperate to get out, why did we have nothing left to hock ? we had dropped out of the Champions league, we had players like Owen on huge wages and as a result were losing money, no money coming in from sponsorship, there was nothing left to take out, better for SJH to jump ship than put money back in. My previous post about debt being manageable probably wasn't the best but the debt that was put on the club from extending the stadium was the bit that was "manageable" due to the mortgage. -

Most of the debt was manageable as it was mortgaged against season ticket sales but on the sale of the club it had to be paid off, that is the biggest bollock that Ashley dropped when not doing due dilligence, what he thought might have been a bargain when he was paying £130m wasn't when he was then required to stump up a further £50-60m. -

Ashley coming had nothing to do with Freddie, he was holed up on his hospital bed when Sir John Hall did the dirty on him by selling up and leaving Shepherd screwed as Ashley was the majority shareholder. Not going to disagree with the dividends and money going out the club though. -
He's only saying what everyone knows anyway, whats the problem? Its common knowledge that Ashley plans for the club are to bring players in and sell them on for a profit. Obviously its a bit different for Colo due to the huge wage that Ashley gave him in the first place but as he'll be soon coming to the end of his contract the option will be take a huge pay cut or leave.

Well that was a successful last day of the window, we have held onto the likes of Tiote, Colo and Krul.
-
i would feel much better having Ridgewell covering for the likes of Colo and Saylor than Perch
