Got to be a good thing that we have the local lads like Shola, Stevie Taylor, Harper, Carver and Steve Stone in and around the team this week drumming into the new guys what this means. With the mackems having sold Henderson, they have local lads Bruce, Colback and Laing in there but all are NUFC fans!!

Don't know about all casinos but aspers is open 24/7, we went there before the game last season for about 7am and it was waitress service then the bar opened "proper" at 8am.

didn't take Sergio long to get off the mark!

imppossible to work out Mancini, starts with a defensive negative line up then when they go one up, they take one of the holding midfielders and bring on a forward!! Normally it would be a case of starting with the forward attacking line up and when in the lead, maybe go defensive and bring on the extra midfielder to see out the game while sacrifycing a forward.
-
Done the same last season, crazy defensive tactics, with the forward players they've got available they should be steamrolling most teams in the league. Ian Holloway would have won the league if he was in charge of Man City last season with his all out attack phylosophy built on the solid platform that City's defence gives you.

No but then with the new injury on the same leg as he snapped i don't see where the problem is with him going back to the doctors and physio's that treated the original injury and rehabilitation, especially if HBA has confidence in them especially as he'll have to comeback mentally as well as physically.
-
With his long term injury i think its sensible on our part to ease him back gently, Pardew said in his press conference before Arsenal that Marveaux was a couple of weeks away. Don't think there's anything sinister or injuries involved i think its just a case of building his fitness up slowly. He featured in the pre season game against Columbus and would have got more minutes under his belt against Fiorentina if the game hadn't been abandoned.

Yes Barton might have went down easy but although contact wasn't great Gervinho did raise his hands and if he Joey hadn't hit the deck i doubt from where the ref was and the linesman were i don't think the ref would have sent him off. Joey would be getting slated on here now for not going down if Gervinho has ended up staying on and popped up to grab a late winner for them. Yes it was soft and didn't look good and while it may have stretched the gamesmanship Joey going down and making the decision easier for the ref was good play and could have helped us grab all three points.

is Harper fully fit? Missed last week with a knee injury. If he's still carrying it at least its saved Pardew one tough decision.
-
yes he'll be gone this time next season when talks collapse over new contract.
-
Everything that has come out of his mouth turns out to be the opposite though, i'd have been more confident of him staying if pardew had said we will sell Colo.
-
everything probably, keeping clean sheets, scoring goals, winning games, progressing in cups, avoiding relegation and god forbid winning something!

its a disgrace that we are less than 48 hours from kicking off in our first game of a new season and the puppet of a manager comes out with "We are trying to focus on incomings now not outgoings, priority is left back and a striker" in his press conference. We went into the summer with £35m supposedly to strengthen the squad and the priority 3 MONTHS AGO was a striker and a left back. The club is an absolute joke to be in this position on the eve of a new season and just sums up the farcical pre season that we have had. Sunday league teams will have planned their new seasons better than NUFC have.

same source i've had all through this thread.

Quicker we get knocked out of this competition the better, yet again for the 3rd season running Ashley hasn't produced the funds to enable the manager to build a squad strong enough to compete on all fronts. In fact with the likes of Tavernier, Airey, Donaldson and others going out on loan we are even weaker than last season. Can hardly put the kids out like against Accrington if they are on loan. In saying that i am all in favour of the kids going on loan and getting the experience.

Liverpool offered him to us as part of the deal and Ashley said no. Also Jose had told the club if they didn't let him go he would buy himself out of his contract at xmas. Surely would have made sense. dave it would make perfect sense, its a no brainer considering our squad needs TWO left backs!!

Worst thing will be big nose Thompson sitting there on soccer saturday saying i told you so. Unfortunately Liverpools main target was Clichy but were blown out the water by Man City, while they've had a long standing admiration of Jose he was always a back up option.
-
Sauce? Ian Ayre, he's heavily involved in the deal so should know whats happening.
-
Liverpool are trying hard to push a deal throuh this week for jose but currently been held up with Ashley being "awkward"!!
-
how was the fans reaction to Jose against Fiorentina?
-
yeah i know but i was half expecting about 3 or 4 Ageuro type signings.

this summer has been a let down so far, i was expecting loads of clubs doing business. Thought Man City would buy some real top notch players smashing transfer records galore now they had Champions league football, expected Chelsea to have a clear out of the old guard and again spend massively on the replacements, same with Arsenal. Obviously the mackems have brought in plenty, expected Blackburns wacky owners to spend, wondered how after a good season last could Bolton hang on to the likes of Cahill, Holden, Lee etc. Spurs have been quiet, as have Everton again, Villa have done what we wanted our board to do and reinvest after selling the likes of Downing. The likes of Wigan and Wolves who struggled last season have only brought in one or two players as well.

£20 had nothing to do with me and my family members not going, the shambolic summer did. its was both the cost and the shambolic summer that made my mind up to give it a miss, much preferred giving my money to Darlo, Gateshead and Ashington this pre-season even though all 3 games were poor.
-
I can't understand it either. Kadar not go to Holland? pretty sure i saw kadars named among the subs for the first game we played in Holland, i can only presume he's injured again as he hasn't featured at Leeds, Gateshead or Ashington.
