  1. My worst week supporting NUFC was going to Lisbon certain i was going to watch Newcastle go through and go all the way to lift to UEFA cup only to crash out in the kind of way only NUFC can and then flying back for the FA semi only for the team not to turn up, we then nearly caught pneumonia standing oustide the train station, never been so cold, even with my foil blanket that the St Johns ambulance were giving out. That trip back home was just horrific.

    U23s & Academy

Finished 5-1 to City but we had a total patched up team, 3 debuts for youngsters Mitchell, Biele and Campbell, Newton played centre back, Richardson played up front. Looking at our line up we only had Dummett, Inman and Mcloughlin who are experienced at reserve level. Probably a question for ObiChris, do you know anything about Biele, other than he's Irish!

looks like penalty taking is a speciality in the Ameobi household lol

already 1-0 down and getting battered by all accounts, reading the updates on .cock the young keeper has pulled off a couple of cracking stops already.

Campbell might be in the squad but can't see him playing unless of an emergency. We are playing in the youth cup tomorrow at SJP, think a few of that team might fill the bench but won't be playing unless its a last resort.

Hindsights a wonderful thing but pity williamson hadn't just clattered into the back of crouch and gave away a freekick.

No the lad from the Nike Tournament is Adam Campbell, he's yet to have a sniff of the reserves never mind the first team. Richardson was signed at the start of the season from Walker Central. IIRC.

the behind closed door friendly thing was something introduced by the PL. I think most of the clubs are doing the same thing. The Wigan game was originally meant to be at Whitley Park and open to fans but when it got rearranged it was decided to play at the training ground and behind closed doors.

    Sunderland...

this time last week we were getting a kick in the balls when we lost Tiote, then yesterday we took another blow to the solar plexes when Carroll was ruled out. Leaving Shola out could be one hit too many. He's now back in training and declared fit so must play.

    Sunderland...

just been looking at the training photos and from looking at the training match it looks like it could be Lovenkrands and Best upfront, they were wearing the blue bibs along with the likes of Nolan, Jose, Colo, Simpson, Williamson etc.

    Good and Bad Debuts

one of the worst for NUFC has to be John Dahl Tomasson, was sent clean through from virtually halfway, bore down on goal with the keeper to beat, missed and never recovered.

    Tamas Kadar

what is it with him and Vuckic, they just seem to pick up injury after injury, which is a bit of a worry cos they are both quality. Tamas is too good for league one, he'll cruise through games, especially at left back.

    Shola Ameobi

pinched from my mates FB status but it made me laugh... Shola Ameobi is as we speak perched on top of one of the Sunderland cross bars at the Stadium of Light, Shola Ameobi doesn't sleep, he waits....

  19. if anyone wants some more banter and build up for the weekend and hear what the likes of Caulkin think Toon talk has just started and on till 9pm. here's the link http://www.ne1fm.net/listen better than listening to the mackems on the legends!!
  20. Pardew will say they're all out but he'll not have realised that Jose has updated his facebook page saying everyone is fit and raring to go!!
  21. Probably because there's absolutely no competition involved in games like this. I'm by no means saying Barcelona don't play great football etc or that it's their fault but it's been f***ing boring for some time now IMO how they just hammer everyone. A big part of what makes sport great is the competition, the feeling that an opponent is worthy, provides a genuine test and the outcome is unpredictable. Just doesn't happen with this team. Again, I'm not saying they're not brilliant at what they do - they clearly are - I just find it a bit boring to watch. Tin hat on. re the away fans, i might be wrong but i'm sure i heard this years ago when we played Bilbao and Barca, the basques brought a decent crowd over but barca hardly brought anyone and it was said that it was just the spanish football culture that fans don't go to away games unlike this country where fans travel in 1000's. Watching games like the madrid derby and barca v espanyol when away fans don't even need to travel there doesn't seem to be away fans. Only game i've seen huge away followings is the seville derby.
  22. only Iniesta or Xavi would pull off a pass/cross like that. genius.
