  1. The fact is if we hadn't been relegated, or were still relegated with Given still at the club and had went now, then there would be almost nothing said against him. To be honest, I couldn't care less now about the whole transfer as the whole club has been a shambles for years, and it's a minor miracle that he stayed as long as he did. It's when you hear these interviews that get my back up - once you've left then I'm sorry, but the club is no longer any of your concern. I dont believe that for a second tbh. Bassong by some is getting the 'f*** off then' treatment and he has been here less than a year. That's a selected two amongst the other's in the thread saying 'can't blame him'. As I said he would be having almost nothing said against him, which is the same as can be said for Bassong if that thread is to be believed. Yes that why i said some of our members. Being here for 13 years and considered (at the time) our most loyal player for us and leaving once relegated would be imo alot worse than having left in January, as many of us would expect him to at least stay a season and try get us back.

  3. You are actually a prat.. because people appreciate his contribution of 12 years service and not calling him a c*** it makes them sad thick bastards. It must hurt you that he is more part of Newcastle than you will ever be. You must be forgetting when he threw his toys out of the pram, kicked up a royal fuss and wanted to leave when Harper was announced as first choice, then. Oh, and the summer he was whoring himself to Spanish clubs in the Chronicle. Purely because he was first choice for so many, many years he seems "loyal" to you. As soon as the s*** really hit the fan and there was a genuine threat of relegation (this season) he buggered off. you mean this.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/7126310.stm and this http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/4765927.stmp and this http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/4607162.stm bolded bit in your post.. helps my point too. Also he did throw his toys out of the pram once - a 24 year old who lost his place after injury and handed in transfer request but withdrew it and apologised for the overreaction very soon after. Just dcmk, really. Don't think me or Toon's Taylor have actually insulted anyone on these boards during this discussion? you must of missed the bit where he called everyone who appreciated Givens contribution a retard and when he called me a tosser

It must hurt you that he is more part of Newcastle than you will ever be. And you are a tosser. Must hurt you someone like myself is a bigger supporter of the club than you will ever be. I'm allowed to have my opinions on him, don't like if go fuk yourself. You spew bullshit every thread you appear on and a complete uneducated dickhead to boot
  5. To everyone in this forum he was negotiating a contract in December but others were stalling.

  7. I have never quite understood that. We had half the season left. Anyone leaving in January hardly affects the end result of getting relegated. If we didnt have the squad to cope with him leaving thats the clubs fault. Of course it effects it. If Ronaldo left Man United in January then it would have an effect on their title bid. You're right about us not having the squad to cover it, but Given asked to leave, he asked to leave probably knowing that he was our best player. Given was negotiating a new contract in December, so i dont buy the whole 'asked to leave' shit one bit. In his press conference seemed mega pissed at our owners and also who thought we would ACTUALLY get relegated in January i didn't. I didn't even think we were in a battle back then.
  8. Including jumping ship when we needed him most When we needed him most? When we treated him like s*** once again more like.. I wish someone would pay me £50k a week and treat me as bad How about 80k+ and being treated well, with a team full of stars, manager and ambition?

    RIP sale thread.

Their his shares he can do what he wants with them, he saw the warning signs and protected his own skin doesn't make him an accessory in our plummet under Ashley one bit. The players are on astronomical wages and did fuck all last season and the worst offenders are hinting they want to stay whilst they are on 50k a week, if they want to stay take a paycut.. they should prove it. Totally different imo.
  10. No offence but that's a pretty dumb comment. That's like saying John O'Shea is amazing because he's won back to back titles whereas in reality Bassong is probably just as good. I said I had doubts you knacker. FACT: He is nowhere near as good as O'Shea though. Is no where near as good?! Reported fee's range from 8mil to 15mil according to who you believe in the press and he is NOWHERE near as good, O'Shea must be worth a shitload .. you are merely looking at the shirts they wear - put O'Shea in an crap team like ours and lets see him perform alot better than Bassong. I bet he would of single-handedly kept us up
  11. Harry normally does really good in the transfer window, i doubt he's that silly.
  12. Most of this forum begged we gave Ashley another chance to get it right, so i think it's very fair to give Freddy a fresh start. He has been in the game along time, knows the club inside out, will invest in the team and back managers.
  13. If we cannot get £10m+ for him then its very worth our while doing so. He's on a pittance of a wage here compared to the rest of the leaches and has a long contract. Sell him to Arsenal for big money or loan him to a mid table club asking for a £1m loan fee while covering his wages and setting a transfer at big money at the same time. He gets to stay in the prem and we don't lose him on the cheap. Only work for certain players. I'd be happy to do that with Taylor as well, though i'd rather him stay just like Bassong. Our owner doesnt give a s*** about the club anymore. Any money coming in is in HIS interest now.. not the clubs, why would he want to get a 1 million fee when he can sell for 5mil?
  14. he has only been here a year and you expect him to die for the club.. dont blame him one bit! good luck to the lad.
  15. I remember the days when we were linked with Arda Turan, Luka Modric and Aimar.. now it's Beckford and Arsenal kids on loan. So fucking depressing.
  16. True But we aren't a one man team. There was 10 other players out on the pitch with the guy.

    Obafemi Martins

This. Martins has time to improve still, he is a world class striker when he wants to be, getting him to do it more than once every ten games is the problem. Owen isnt getting any better and his pace/ability is shrinking faster than miss pepperpot. Neither are staying though, so its a moot point. They both offered too little this season to get hung over about. World class striker sorry but He has all the ability and skills to be one, he just needs decent coaching and application, the latter being the biggest problem. Eh? He can't control the ball, has no sense of what's going on around him, and his finishing is diabolical except for once every blue moon. Being a natural athlete which he undoubtedly is, is not the same having all the ability and skills to be a world class player. World class players simply do not look as s*** as Obafemi Martins does on a football pitch, regardless of coaching or application. Well that's the gist of it. World class players aren't usually to be found playing at St James Park, unless they are a busted flush like the guy you used to champion, Michael Owen. I don't really know why you are so intent on singling out Martins when you look around at the rest of the squad. Are we a leading club challenging for Champions league football in your world? In that case the uber-criticism might make sense. It's the Oba Martins thread and someone called him world class, i wouldn't say he was singling out Oba more ridiculing that view of him ... and rightly so
  18. Does Nicky Butt/Alan Smith/Damien Duff or the Shola lad have any brothers that are out of work. We need more grafters.
  19. Luke Edwards is actually talking sense for once I beg to differ. I think it's a really silly article. If the prospective new owners want Shearer, they'll appoint him. If they don't want him, then if Shearer's already been given a contract that will only put them off. They're not going to have as their first step the sacking of the local hero. As for only offering him a short contract so that if the new people don't want him, they won't have to put up with him for long - new heights of silliness. There's also this conviction that, despite Shearer's poor record while in charge, he's the only man for the job. Now I'll admit that getting the fans on side is an important consideration, but it's not the only one. So you think that being without a manager in our situation is ideal.

    RIP sale thread.

It is to be expected from this lot. Not going through the books when they were purchasing, the constant slagging off of the previous owners, Dennis Wise DoF, a casino manager running the club day to day, staff working from London, zero communication when Keegan left, the 'Keegan role was not' eventual statement, transfer dealings being done with no money paid up front, JFK is my hero, him downing that pint.. that's just the stuff off the top of my head :/

You didn't really have an opinion yourself in that post.. you said 'Maybe not world class' as in his ability right NOW and didn't clarif what you meant at all. Im making presumptions - but you must rate him close to world class if he is just 'maybe not'.. which is ludicrious.

    Obafemi Martins

We can't afford to refuse offers for him because he's f***ing abysmal. Let's take whatever money we can get for him and he can show some other set of fans his (stolen from alex) mazy runs along the length of the halfway line. I never said the club should refuse to take offers for him, I am saying that ALL of these players saying they want to stay should then ptove it by refusing to talk to any other club and by taking a wage vut. All this "Iwant to stay" s*** is doing my head in, easy to say when you know the club will sell you and you can then blame them. If anyone will refuse to talk to clubs it would be Smith and Butt imo, no-one would offer them as much as they are getting now and they know it.
