  1. Bolton midfielder ABDOULAYE FAYE, 29, has ended his contract dispute by agreeing a three-year deal. From The Sun
  2. Uncle Alan said today "when" we sign a central defender this week for free we won't be excited. Who can it be?
  3. From The BBC: Fulham 'target Seol and N'Zogbia' Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez is thought to be close to boosting his squad with the additions of midfielders Seol Ki-Hyeon and Charles N'Zogbia. Newcastle's N'Zogbia, 21, is likely to cost around £3m, while Fulham are believed to have offered Reading £1m for 28-year-old South Korean Seol. Seol said: "Fulham want me and I would be happy to play for them. "There is a chance I will start the season as a Fulham player. I want to play every week." Sanchez has already splashed out more than £14m this summer, bringing in seven new players. But the Fulham boss, who took over five games before the end of last season, told BBC Five Live on Monday that he expected to sign "two or three more players". N'Zogbia fell out with Newcastle when he was excluded from the squad to face Watford in the Magpies' final game of last season. Seol joined Reading in a £1.5m deal from Wolves in July 2006. However, after losing his first-team place, he threatened to seek a move and his recent comments about joining Fulham appear to suggest his stay with the Royals may not last more than one season.
  4. We'll need to sign another midfielder too with Emre being his usual crocked self and Barton missing the first part of the season.
  5. Looks like Tottingham or West Sham - I doubt he'd go to Citeh, even though he gets on well with Sven he'd probably want to go darn sarf.
  6. Didn't he turn us down when he was younger - prior to signing for Manure?
  7. I remember watching us win 5-1 away to Coventry many years ago and Spidersheed subbing Nobby from CM about half way through the first half.
  8. A Brazilian named "Hulk" - yes you read that correctly wants to change his nationality to Japanese. He's 20 and a really exciting talent - he'd be Asia's next big thing - kind of (as he isn't Japanese).
  9. Really? Because the 4-5 matches that I watched when I was in Japan, there was hardly a physical challenge. By the way, Viduka aint injured. Graham Arnold commenting on Viduka being subbed off. http://www.smh.com.au/news/Sport/Viduka-said-nasty-stuff-says-Nakazawa/2007/07/22/1185042933307.html Having watched roughly 30 matches home and away in each of the past 4 seasons I beg to differ. It's not as physical as the Premiership but it certainly can get nasty at times. According to this morning's paper my afore-mentioned rubbish team are rumoured to be signing John Aloisi, the Aussie forward who scored against Japan last night.
  10. My team isn't very entertaining - 10 goals in 18 games, but some of the players at the better teams - Gamba, Urawa (scum) etc. are very savvy and not gentlemanly at all. The stereotype of it being gentlemanly is exactly what it is - a stereotype.
  11. Kawaguchi's usually very good with penalties but I don't think he's Japan's best keeper. There are several better in J1. Of course I didnt say that he is Japan's best keeper,I was saying that he did a good job during the shoot out thats all. I was just making a comment - he's nowt flash but has good reflexes. Some Japanese players are good enough for us in my opinion. Nakazawa, Shunsuke and an injured defender called Tulio (half Brazilian / Japanese) could all cut it in England.

  13. Nowt against the Aussies but as I've lived a quarter of my life in Japan I was rooting for them throughout. Great penalty by Nakazawa and it's good news that Viduka gets to come home a bit earlier.
  14. Sam doesn't "particularly want him to leave". Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
  15. Taiwo would be off to the African Nations in January though.

  17. It's pretty easy to see what numbers the new players are getting!
  18. Roy eyeing £20million spree By BEN KINSELLA July 11, 2007 The mackems to spend 20m on one player - funny stuff. ROY KEANE aims to rival Alex Ferguson’s stunning summer spending spree — insisting he would not bat an eyelid at splashing £20million on a target. Manchester United chief Fergie has left other Premiership clubs trailing this summer by laying out £49m on Owen Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson — with Carlos Tevez expected to join in a deal worth another £38m. Keane’s current outlay is more modest than his former Old Trafford boss — just £4m on defenders Russell Anderson and Greg Halford ahead of Sunderland’s return to the big time. But after failing with a £9m swoop for Jermain Defoe and pulling out of a £7m move for David Nugent, the Black Cats boss has shown he is not afraid to spend big. Keane, 35, said: “I’d not have a problem spending big money — £8m, £10m or £20m — it wouldn’t worry me. I wouldn’t blink an eye. “I’m hopeful in the next week or so that we’ll have another four or five players — names that will excite fans. “We need a stronger squad because of the tests ahead. There’s no doubt we can compete in the market. “It would be very easy for me to spend £15m in the next few days and grab the headlines but that’s not what my job’s about. I have to bring in the right characters. “If I had to spend £10m on a player who I think can play a big part then we will.” Keane is set to smash the club record £6.75m spent on Tore Andre Flo in 2002. He admitted: “It’s a ferocious transfer market but there’s a lack of quality players. “There’s a lot of money in the Premiership but that’s the way of the world. Not one player has turned us down this summer.” Keane is determined to be a major player in the transfer market to ensure the Wearsiders lose their yo-yo tag and finally make their mark in the Premiership. Tightening up his defence seems to be on Keane’s mind with a £3m move for Southampton’s Chris Baird expected to go through in the next 24 hours and an improved £5m bid on the table for Wigan’s Leighton Baines. West Brom’s highly-rated Republic of Ireland Paul McShane is close to a £2.8m switch and £6m-rated Hearts keeper Craig Gordon is also a target.
  19. I don't know much about him but he scored a cracking goal for FC Copenhagen - you can see it on youtube.
