Report from Press Association
CHELSEA BANNED FROM BUYING PLAYERS UNTIL 2011
By Martyn Ziegler, Chief Reporter, Press Association Sport
Chelsea have been banned from registering any new players for the next two transfer windows in a shock move by FIFA after being found guilty of inducing a French teenager to breach his contract with another club.
Gael Kakuta, 18, joined Chelsea from Lens two years ago after which the French club lodged a complaint with FIFA.
Now FIFA’s dispute resolution chamber (DRC) has ruled that Kakuta breached his contract with Lens and that Chelsea induced him to do so.
FIFA said in a statement: “The French club had lodged a claim with FIFA seeking compensation for breach of contract from the player and requesting also sporting sanctions to be imposed on the player and the English club for breach of contract and inducement to breach of contract respectively.
“The DRC found that the player had indeed breached a contract signed with the French club. Equally, the DRC deemed it to be established that the English club induced the player to such breach.
“As a result the player was condemned to pay compensation in the amount of EUR 780,000, for which the club, Chelsea, is jointly and severally liable, and sporting sanctions were imposed on both the player and Chelsea in accordance with art. 17 par. 3 and 4 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players.
“A restriction of four months on his eligibility to play in official matches is imposed on the player Gael Kakuta while the club Chelsea is banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, for the two next entire and consecutive registration periods following the notification of the present decision.
“Furthermore, Chelsea, has to pay RC Lens training compensation in the amount of EUR 130,000.”
Bans on registration, plus a fine and the player gets hit with a significant compensation payment

Sir Bobby Gets a Stand named after him, At Ipswich
IPSWICH TO NAME STAND FOR ROBSON
Ipswich are to rename a stand at their Portman Road ground in honour of former manager Sir Bobby Robson.
Ex-England boss Robson, who won the FA Cup and UEFA Cup in a 13-year spell in charge of the Tractor Boys, died last month aged 76.
Town chief executive Simon Clegg today revealed plans to rename the North Stand after him.
“We’ve considered all of the suggestions that we have received from many different sources for another permanent memorial at Portman Road to the greatest manager this club has had but above all, the thoughts of the fans,” said Clegg.
“The overwhelming majority wanted the Sir Bobby Robson Stand and with the North Stand being seen as the heart of the club and of the fan base, the fans feel this is the right stand to be renamed.”
It is hoped the official unveiling of the stand will take place before kick-off at Ipswich’s game with Newcastle on September 26.
Great gesture. He was their best ever manager so it makes sense.
Aye but its what we should have done before now.
Thing is there are other people in our history who should equally be recognised. I reckon naming the academy after him would be a much better tribute.
Would be very very fitting
Agreed

How we've sold 15,000 season tickets (let alone the rumoured 25,000) I will never know!
A significant portion of the season tickets will be people who have the three year ticket options. God knows how many ST would have been sold if the three year option was not available

A Legend, and a proper Gentleman
Rest In Peace Sir Bobby, you will be truly missed

I have signed up for the direct debit and do not intend to cancel, maybe I am stupid but, I just support Newcastle........ Anyway that wasn't my point!
The direct debits were supposed to start on 10th Feb and to date they haven't taken any money! Wonder if I am going to get a further discount and they are waiting to work out the details??? Hopes in vain!
They have from me, £49.40 out of my bank account on the 10th

£5m + Talyor for winging French git "insomnia" according to SSN's David Craig - Good business under the circumstances

we have been the better side, but could not take the chances we created - always a chance this would happen

Only at the Toon. This is crazy stuff but who else could do this job. How amazing would it be if Keegan leads the team out tomorrow.
Would lose some respect for KK if he did.
Why if he loves the club?
3rd time lucky I say.
it will be 4th time
3rd time as manager, hopefully

Ambani to buy the Club, KK back as manager bringing Shearer in as player/coach

b) he is an asset stripper who wants rid of the high cost/high wages players like Owen etc
A comment allegedly made by one of Ashley's competitors - "Ashley is like a Locust - He finds a brand, utterly rapes it then moves on to the next" - I seriously fear for our club while he remains in charge
-
I see the official site is still completely blank.
Fucking gutless twats.
I'm getting more and more angry the longer they take.
My head's in a spin.
Undoubtedly, IMO, there has to be a protest but what form that takes is the question.
These are the options nufc.com had on earlier (all of which were emailed to them and were before confirmation that Kev had gone came through):
We're aware that various other options are being debated amongst the supporter community at present, including:
a) delaying entry into the stadium until well after kickoff.
b) boycott of club merchandise and food/drink sales.
c) attendance at game without wearing NUFC shirts.
d) leaflet/card protest at some point during the game.
As they say, I don't see how a full boycott will affect them. Season tickets are already paid for so not turning up at all when you have one won't mean a thing to the NUFC coffers. Obviously that's personal choice but for me I can't turn my back on my club. We have to win it back.
Wonder of the lack of a statement is down to their arrogance in thinking KK would back down so they have been caught on the hop.
Think all should attend the game, give the hierarchy what for for the first 20 minutes then all leave
