It's more of a statement to stay away if you've already paid as well. Ashley is going to be sweating the more people who stay away even though it costs them money. Definitely. Embarrassing as hell if you think about it. Like going out to dinner, ordering an entree that comes out cold, undercooked, and with a stray hair on it and saying, "Well, shit, I've already paid for it, so I've got to go ahead and finish it all."

What is supporting the team? How many of these players have shown real interest in representing Newcastle United? How many appear to be bothered by the current situation? What's better for the long-term outlook of this club - a huge crowd of muted supporters watching a drab match, as we've seen throughout this season, or massive swaths of empty seats and a protest outside to make it clear that the current aimless path is unsustainable?

The idea of supporters not showing up to a match is less about costing Ashley money and more a powerful gesture of dissent. If you strictly look at it in financial terms, none of the Premier League teams NEED supporters to show up on a regular basis. The television revenue streams are so large that they essentially obviate the fans. However, like the studio audience for a television show, the fans will always be an essential part of marketing and presentation. That's where this matters a great deal. If Newcastle United play a match televised worldwide in front of a half-empty SJP, many people will begin to wonder why. Moreover, the televised pictures with Wonga and Sports Direct logos will be tainted by the fact that there will be obvious swaths of empty seats and sections. It's why if the fans truly didn't show up for a match, it would indeed force action -- not because of financial problems, but because of horrible public relations/marketing. It's pretty simple. Ask yourself - why are you going? Why do you go? To support Newcastle United? I'd argue that, at this point, any attendance at a club-sanctioned event is a vote of confidence to the current regime. And that vote of confidence only ensures that nothing will change. You're supporting a club that has made it abundantly clear, time and time again, through both words and actions, they do not care about winning and they certainly don't care about the city/region. Just try it. Try not going. Try not watching. Turn away from the withered husk that this club has become. It's truly the only way to save it.

This one certainly applies to us: http://s27.postimg.org/plpdte5hr/bullshit_rodeo.jpg%5D

Jonas seems like such a fabulous guy. Awful to think how the club treated him at his life's lowest point. And not to pay for his medical treatment... It's somehow even more of a slap in the face how the club has tried to share the obvious goodwill being shown to Jonas after treating him like shit. We are an abhorrent club.

Just noticed we average the fewest number of offsides per game by a large margin. Ordinarily you'd be pleased to avoid being caught offside but it so clear that the tactics we employ are so stilted (and our players so neutered and/or apathetic) we've stopped even making attacking runs that would end up offside. 1 West Ham 66 2 Everton 66 3 Southampton 63 4 Manchester City 63 5 Liverpool 60 6 Swansea 60 7 Manchester United 59 8 Chelsea 58 9 Sunderland 55 10 Stoke 53 11 Crystal Palace 53 12 Aston Villa 52 13 Queens Park Rangers 52 14 Burnley 50 15 Hull 50 16 West Bromwich Albion 49 17 Tottenham 47 18 Arsenal 46 19 Leicester 39 20 Newcastle United 28

Heard a few of the lads say that about me the other day at training. They said it quiet, like, kind of giggled, must not have wanted me to know how much they respect me. Anyway, Bolasie is an top drawer dickface, er dickhead."

I bet this is one amazing halftime team talk by the barely literate head coach.

Of course players don't look bothered. They're being managed by a weathered old idiot and playing for a club with no ambition to do anything.

Seeing those pictures reminded me of the time the Million Dollar Man was going to give a kid $500 if he could dribble a basketball 15 times, then kicked it away on the 14th. Mike Ashley would be proud.

It's not even that Santon is a star player or anything, but he seemed to really love the club and be settled in the area. The way he's been treated is very much a microcosm of the way the club has treated the supporters, really. Going out of their way to antagonise people that genuinely love the club in pursuit of just that little bit more money. That's why his fiancee's criticisms hit home and why the club's denial of them will look so ridiculous. Of course this is how they do business. It's how they always do business.

Funny how this whole thing has FINALLY shown to many -- and should have shown to all -- the existential crisis Newcastle United finds itself facing. All of the normal reasons why clubs sign players or choose managers don't apply to a club that exists merely to retain Premier League status so as to be a commercial front. In a normal situation, no club in its right mind would touch Carver with a ten foot pole. Only a business built on the back of intense and mostly unjustifiable loyalty could still exist while treating its patrons with such rancor and contempt. And only by showing that loyalty cannot be taken for granted will that contempt have any chance of stopping. Old habits die hard, but they eventually die. I don't know how many prematurely aborted cup runs or how many muted, cold, callous statements it will take, but at some point, even the most loyal fan will stop supporting a team that doesn't particularly care. If you indeed reap what you sow, this club will have a very rough next few years, because all they've sown is spite.

The beginning where he very specifically and patiently outlined how much they loved Pardew was extremely depressing. And a frankly disastrous way to start an interview.

They are determined to depress the fans. They somehow both underpromise and underdeliver. You won't ever get excited about anything regarding this club, yet somehow they depress you even further in spite of the fact you weren't even remotely excited to begin with. Their brusque, uncaring, cold manner of communication is disgraceful and abusive in its own way. Fans really would do well to avoid SJP for a long, long time.

The timetable - and how it's perceived by outsiders - is irrelevant to Ashley, Charnley, etc. They will have written off the Chelsea/Southampton matches regardless. I've always thought they wouldn't have any announcement until this past weekend at earliest, but most likely sometime this week. They don't think we'll be relegated, they don't think we'll make the EL, so why would they worry about rushing just for two matches (and again, I'm speaking here from their jaded perspective, not the rational thinking of a normal person)? Everything still points to Garde. Or someone of his ilk, but he seems to meet every criteria. Get him in, get him acclimated, get a signing or two in, see what happens the rest of the way.
