  1. Harsh but on balance of play and the ridiculous offside earlier, a just scoreline
  2. Villa losing, Stevie slumped in the dugout, sweet
  3. Pen for Palace after VAR review for handball
  4. So glad we didn't end up with Gerrard. Watching this Villa game, they've been dominated for 25 minutes straight, no adjustments made at all, miracle they're not behind. They've got some good players but tactically inept thanks to SG.
  5. Bollocks, disallowed for marginal offside apparently, still 1-1
  6. Great post and info about DA @StevenSeagull and probably the best new logo and forum name too, welcome mate hope you stick around

We don't have any clue as to how much time was spent on those players. There's been so much poor reporting, blatant lies and agent-driven nonsense, sifting through all that is an pointless exercise. The Maddison bids, I don't have a good answer to those, they were a little odd. I personally try to remember where we were as recently as a year ago and where we are now. The two situations could hardly be more different. If you told me 12 months ago we'd be "fearful" of ending up with JP+ a Chelsea loan, in addition to what we've added and after finishing how we did, i'd have snapped your hands off. Perspective is a good thing man.

That's all fine but you've made many posts (not necessarily today) basically stating "we're waiting too long, our signings aren't enough to move us up, why haven't we paid what clubs want we must not have the money we thought etc". But then you say "There's no Newcastle tax, it's we're going for players who want CL football". That to me sounds like you think we're aiming too high in the first place which contradicts the point of not making enough signings of quality. Shouldn't we be aiming for those players or at least trying, even if they're a bit too ambitious for where we are? I personally think we aimed high in our targets earlier in the window (Isak, Diaby etc), quickly realized they were out of our range, and have switched targets accordingly. It is taking a while (nearly 2 months since Botman signed) but we're being smart with our money until the revenue/sponsorship catches up. I don't like going into the final week or so of the window without the attacking reinforcements we need any more than anyone else, because if anything we're less likely to get quality as clubs don't want to sell and have to replace that late. But we are where we are and we're learning all the time.

You complain we haven't made enough quality signings, then you complain that we get the reasons for not making those signings incorrect, like you're saying we're aiming too high in the first place. A complete contradiction. So which is it? I honestly think you revel in negativity
  10. This thread is...hard work. I am happy we're substantially linked finally with a young player who appears to have the raw tools that could be polished (with real coaching he'd receive here) into something exciting. We clearly have figured out that players linked early in the summer are too expensive for our current circumstances with regards to revenue/sponsorship, combined with an ageing squad with little resale, so they're being creative and smart with the money we do have and that will change as our income grows. That's my take FWIW.
  11. Kulusevski has been surprisingly shit today, lost the ball in key areas
  12. They'll be doing it his way around October time, after playing Ismael's way whenever they lose
  13. I hate that for Chelsea it's basically business as usual. After all the Abramovich stuff, they looked like they might implode as a club. Instead they've gone out and spent a fortune and can apparently spend more and they look quality. Depressing.
  14. This is a tactical mess of Conte's making plus Chelsea have played really well and should have scored more. Have to think their intensity will drop eventually and Spurs could sneak back into this
  15. Spurs have got this horribly wrong so far, not sure what Conte is thinking
  16. Cucurella dozing in the sunshine playing Sessegnon onside
  17. "Stamford Bridge shimmers in the sunshine". Yup, stuck with Drury again
  18. Blackburn 2 up, fuck off Bruce you useless hope-draining wanker
  19. No idea how Forest won that but not unhappy WHU lost
  20. Rice even has the Scott Parker spin in his locker
