  2. The worrying thing is he's really into his stats, like the owners its a match made in heaven then again his ego after being made liverpool boss would be insufferable That might be our saving grace. Once appointed, his head would swell to galactic proportions, and he'd be forced to quit because his bloated, empty head wouldn't fit through the door.

  5. Be wrapped up soon. Surprised the yanks haven't canned the poor get already tbh. Probs analysing shortlist as we speak. Jol.......Hiddink......Hitzfeld....Rikjaard......Hughton...... .....Allardyce!!! Oh my god let this happen! Tho the downfall would be, Allerdyce would create a smug cloud the size of europe. I think I'd have to kill myself, or someone else
  6. He'll Never Walk Alone. Then the f***er needs a good push. What was your take on the match? I've only read the commentary. It wasn't on live over here and I can rarely motivate myself to watch games I know we've lost.

  8. I have no idea what he's trying to say with that post. I can just imagine the spittle collecting at the corners of his mouth as he posted that. http://oi53.tinypic.com/6rnjbp.jpg

  11. Was at a birthday party today, so haven't seen the game yet, but apparently he played well against Chelsea.
  12. It's a reasonable position. All they've done materially so far is appoint Comolli, and we won't know how that pans out till he's had a few transfer windows. On the other hand, they gave Obama the Nobel Peace Prize just for not being George Bush, so not being H&J it probably worth a point against Parky. In the grand scheme of things, even if you havn't seen immediate effects, I'd say it's safe to assume they'll be better than H&G. Then again.. We said that about Ashley! Still trying to work out exactly what Comolli's title is about Can't say I've really seen much from you tbh wacko, what's your opinion on Hodgson? Think he deserves the season at least? I've pretty much reserved my judgment on Hodgson on account of all the boardroom shenanigans that finally turned it all to shit last summer. I didn't think anyone would have been able to get anything going till the H&G saga was over, and the club stabilised. I saw and see him as a stop-gap until the ownership transition is complete, so one or maximum two seasons. The clouds finally seem to have cleared a bit, and the improvement in form shows that the players haven't lost confidence in Hodgson, so there's no point firing him. It's not like we could poach Mourinho from Real tomorrow, and he would manage us to a historic treble in 2011. In his favour, he's putting a lot more faith in the kids than Rafa ever did (big fault of his), and Lucas in particular is flourishing.
  13. Some fans consider beating Chelsea 2-0 to be acceptable. Wigan, Stoke and West Ham up next. The same fans who consider going out of the cup to Northampton last month worthy of the sack? A month ago, by all indications, Woy was busy with his shovel at the bottom of a deep hole. If that form had continued, he probably would have had to go very soon indeed, because the club can't afford to not sack the manager if he's only won one game by the end of December. One month later, and we're closer to the CL spots than the relegation zone, so there's no need to fire him.

  16. Citing a Sky Sports show like that to back up your argument is similar to citing Wikipedia in a university paper. I'd say citing Yahoo Answers.
  17. I don't really understand what that's supposed to mean. The really bad situation is on the pitch, and not much has changed there. The club wasn't in financial bother: the old owners were. And they ended up losing £140m. The situation was always such that the club was an asset (the only asset) of a company living on borrowed time, and it was always going to go down pretty much the way it did, because no-one was going to pay the premium H&J were asking, when they could save themselves over £100m by dealing with the bank and waiting till the deadline. I'm not so sure. There's a good likelihood they'll really bump ticket prices, which won't go down well, even if it's theoretically better for the club. And I worry that they'll get all arrogant and think they can do football better than anyone else, and come up with a load of useless crap that sets us back even further. I don't believe statistical analysis is anywhere near as useful in a fluid, low-scoring game like football as in a game composed entirely of set pieces like baseball. Rafa was big on his numbers, stats and probabilities, and I think this aspect of his approach is what hurt us in the Prem relative to the side's success in Europe. He'd choose more rounded or dependable players like Kuyt over more quixotic ones like Luis Garcia (God bless him), who can win you a game from nothing, and he squeezed too much of that creativity out of the side.
  18. He bought a lot of crap players, but he did bring in Alonso, Torres and Mascherano, who'd all walk into just about any side in Europe on top form. He should have worried less about making up the numbers in the squad, and concentrated more of the funds he had into buying nailed-on successes like the above three. That said, two of his biggest purchases, Keane and Aquilani, were disastrous. You were telling me a while back the board bought Keane??? Because Rafa wanted him (albeit on the condition of already having Barry). Well no, they weren't "utter dross", they were more or less as good as their price tags indicated. £2-8m, which is what Rafa paid for most of his players, isn't going to get you a squad of superstars like Chelsea, City and Man Utd. He bought badly in the sense that he bought too many cheapish players for the squad instead of fewer expensive ones for the first eleven, but he generally got value for money with his transfers (some of the expensive ones being the exceptions).

  20. £10m net spend is waaaaaaay off. £70-80m.
  21. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/9135335.stm Just inviting speculation on it now Roy. Why would you even say that? I'm very much thinking that Roy is officially going insane. He's a double agent. He has to be. It's the only possible explanation. one of the theorys ive heard around is reina and torres have buyout clauses in their new contracts That doesn't explain everything else. He's a plant sent to destroy us

  23. Parry was not a great MD either. We called him "Coco the Clown" for a reason. Under him and Moores, it was like being run by Smashie and Nicey. They were basically too passive and moderate to ever be dangerous, like Fat Freddy or Ridsdale, but also to be particularly effective, too. The whole Barry/Keane affair was a great big clusterfuck, and to my knowledge, it was Parry/H&G that fucked it all up. Basically, Rafa had told Parry to sign Barry, and then if--and only if--he got Barry, sign Keane, too, if possible. Instead, Parry spunked all the money on Keane, and came back to Rafa and said, "well, here's Keane, but there isn't enough money for Barry." Which as everyone knows, did not end well.
