Am I missing something? They were our players, nowt to do with Allardyce. Sorry, no - i didn't phrase it very well. All of the 'loan ends' in Sir Bobby's list, and the vast majority of players in Allardyce's list, are of equal irrelevance to the managers' respective track records. If you see what i mean. Imo, anyway. And the players deemed to have been unsuccessful won't be correct either, it's based on recent years for e.g JJ.O,Djorkaeff etc the players he had in his first seasons may acutally have done a good job especially seen as they stayed up.

didn't realise these were our signings.

Look at all the loan signings... most of these players were signed as short term moves, probably as cover for what they already had ,so it wasn't really a question of Allardyce wanting these players in the club on a permanent basis.

I back all managers to start with but lets not get carried away with Sam's buying he has bought a hell of lot of dead wood at Bolton. So? he's got the best out of almost everyone so it's irrelevant.

Say what you want about how Luque has done at Newcastle, his commitment ect. But that comment really is just complete nonesense. You don't score goals against the best teams in Europe and be considered a top player in La Liga consistently by being an average player...

No thats now Bartons. Ah right, cheers. He also played under 20 didn't he? Sorry if these are obvious questions! Yes.

I agree. Although, i do rate Scolari higher. The guys a genious on the international scene. England had the better squad of players on both occasions. I disagree. Certainly in ths case of 02. But even so, they're isnt much of a difference. 02: England: Seaman; Mills, Campbell, Ferdinand, A Cole; Beckham, Scholes, Butt, Sinclair; Owen, Heskey Brazil: Marcos; Cafu, Roque Junior, Lucio, Edmilson, Roberto Carlos; Gilberto, Ronaldinho(Sent off), Kleberson; Ronaldo, Rivaldo 04: England: James; Neville, Terry, Campbell, A Cole; Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes; Owen, Rooney (Vassell after he broke his foot) Portugal: Ricardo; Miguel, Andrade, Carvalho, Valente; Maniche, Costinha, Deco, Figo, Ronaldo; Nuno Gomes 06: England: Robinson; Neville, Terry, Ferdinand, A Cole; Beckham, Hargreaves, Gerrard, Lampard, J Cole; Rooney(Sent off), Portugal: Ricardo; Miguel, Meira, Carvalho, Valente; Figo, Maniche, Petit, Tiago, Ronaldo; Pauleta Anyways, I think the main reason Scolari gets such a tonguing was because of 04...Sven was seen as someone who always stuck by his big names no matter how they performed but Scolari had the balls to sub Figo...and it worked. Sorry i didn't mean Brazil, i was talking about Euro 2004 and World cup 2006, so both Portugal games.

Look at the time

Ye i skimmed it but leaving Sweden to goto Italy and then 10 years later or so he ends up managing in the Portuguese league... hardly looks good. What about Bobby Robson leaving Spain for Holland? working with Romario was too much of a lure

So it took him 15 years to finally get a job in a decent league?

Sven > Pearce Thai bloke with loads of cash > clueless debt ridden bloke So things must be on the up then! Had to be really, as I had you down as certs for the drop if you didn't get something sorted. Short term, think you'll be looking at something similar to Villa last year - enough time to get in a few key players before the new season, but too late for a real overhaul. Longer term, not too sure about Sven - getting on a bit now isn't he, and comes with colossal baggage - combination of him and the dodgy dictator means a potential field day for the tabloids.... They're in a much better position than we were before last season - our takeover went through after the closing of the transfer window. Eh? Didn't you buy that ex-Celtic player after teh takeover? Petrov? No, we bought him before the takeover went through. Although word has it that Lerner in some way helped us find the cash. Either way, the takeover had not gone through - my point is that City's will go through well before the deadline and the new manager should have a summer before the season starts. I'd cringe of the thought of Sven been our manager especially with the stereotypical view of the farce we can be but maybe this is the sort of manager Man City need in order to progress. Why would you cringe at the thought of Sven? His club record is excellent. So, he f***** up at England, but that job has beaten many other excellent managers before him. And his games won record was very good. Why? because he's a complete nutjob that's why, so he spent 150m with Lazio and won the league... doesn't make him a great manager.

Speaking to a PSG fan he said he can do better than us

Good point, he didn't even play Luque in the reserves. The first game he played he scored two 30-yard screamers away to Liverpool and then disappeared off the radar again for ages. The way Roeder handled it was bizarre and disgraceful when you consider it's his job to get the best out of and deal with difficult players. Shocking. Now we've got a proper manager in who recognises his duties and you know he'll work hard to try and make it work. Difficult really, if Roeder didn't feel he could get Luque to play anything like his level he didn't really have much choice but not to play him, at the end of the day he was trying to win games and Luque been in the team wouldn't have helped him achieve that. What about when we played Charlton and Shefield United? he had Duff up front ffs. Luque hasn't done himself many favours since he's been here however Roeder didn't go out of his way to help the situation either. Duff has played upfront for Ireland and was still a better option than Luque tbf. He wasn't like, after the Charlton game he should have been shifted back out wide as he never looked like scoring. When has Luque ever looked like scoring when playing in the Premiership? not trying to criticise Luque as i'm probably one of his biggest fans on here and on the same token i'm not trying to praise Duff as he's played very poor all season but if it was down to Luque who had never shown any form or Duff who'd you'd expect to play well based on his premiership career, i'd go with Duff.

It wasn't on the breaking news bar. It was David Craig reporting.
