Can we not just view each player by their own merits rather than write them off immediately because they've been with a better team than us and are over 26? If we could get either Keane on loan or get Bentley on a good deal, I'd give those two a shot. Can't see either happening but that's a different argument. No one's talking about only going for those types of players again and screwing the younger players out of the first team, but a good balance does need to be struck imo.

Pretty much what I said earlier. We probably could've easily got half of the people touted if it was still Hughton. But Ashley's so fucking random, they won't dare touch us now. And the Keegan/Shearer shenanigans thrown in with the Hughton situation means most former players/staff won't think about returning while Ashley's still in charge.

Can't say I've seen anyone write him off as such. Don't think now's the time to start blooding him though. From the appearances I have seen (which admittedly isn't much), and what other's say when he's been given a first team opportunity, he's not impressed too much. Hopefully he can start to put some of that potential to good use, but right now, I just don't think he's ready. With the amount of hype surrounding him, it was naturally a given that he was going to be a disappointment when finally out there on the pitch.
