I'd keep him on. Was actually discussing this with a mate after Tino's latest stormer of a game and whether they may try to wriggle out of the deal if they decide other positions become more of a priority. But that just doesn't feel very 'us' these days. When we lock in on a target we take him, no matter the public consensus on whether that position/player is needed or not (e.g. the obvious of people questioning more full back purchases and that's not a dig). If they saw something in Hall like they have all our other signings, I trust that implicitly and want to see how it plays out. Only way I see them looking for an out is if he's not showing the will to improve and break in to the team, as he's clearly got ability. Doesn't seem that sort of character though.

Does make you wonder if the two sides are quite far apart in negotiations. He's technically free to negotiate with clubs abroad next month, isn't he? Yeah I'm happy with him staying at full back. His defensive ability would be wasted in pushing him up. And we've already had a full back-heavy attacking focus thanks to how integral Trippier is for us, so it actually feels like it's a spot on replacement for how we play (albeit different attacking styles) as and when he starts to decline.

Should do wonders for Tripps's conditioning too in that he doesn't have to be getting up and down the wing every single possession switch. Let him stay back and get a breather.

I know I'm thinking about things I shouldn't have to yet, but I'm intrigued at the thought of what Howe does whenever Tripps finally starts winding down if Tino's performed like this down the left for a couple of years, especially if he continues building an understanding with AG. Wonder if he switches him back or just leaves him down the left and finds someone else for the right.

I was open minded on him as soon as it was announced yet it's fucking exhausting, man. I probably wouldn't find it nearly as bad were it not for the fact it feels like this is far from the only player/topic you love to remind everyone how silly some people were months or more ago. Not that I have the wherewithal to provide receipts for this opinion. I actually agree with a lot of your views but half of them always seem tinged with rubbing it in a nameless face or telling people they're too emotional while you ironically act like a dog with a bone.
