I wonder if allardyce is regretting letting those few players go at the end of the season now? Our squad is tiny, and the defensive options a complete and utter joke. People are saying here about not wanting to get in players who we dont really want and not wanting to be lumbered with these players a year down the line. Fact is that in 2 weeks time we will HAVE to be doing this, because the alternative of facing the season with this group of defenders is unbearable.

I agree that managers make mistakes in the transfer market, but if sam doesn't get a left back in my opinion it will be one of the biggest managerial failings i have ever seen. Good full backs would revolutionise this teams attacking play, as well as hopefully organising the back four a bit more. Damien Duff for example would be a different player with someone decent behind him.
-
Its a shame we missed out on these players as they would have been good additions, so unlucky for Sam - he just better have some alternatives. CoachHTT after all your recent praise of him how would you feel about Big Sam if he fails to sign a recognised left back in the transfer window?
-
its all well and good saying 'give it time trust sam', but if we come out of this transfer window and have not signed at the very very minimium 3 more defenders then I will question allardyces ability to take the club any further than the previous managers. All who have gone before him in recent years have said the same thing when they walk in the door "we need a better defence" and then it turns into 'oh we will just buy this striker first....then this midfielder....then a winger we dont need...then a few utility players' and our biggest failing continues to go unresolved. Also, I personally don't want to see players coming in for the defence and we say oh its ok he can play at fullback, used to do it for the under 12s but hes a centre back now. I want someone who is proven to play at left back and for them to be bought for this purpose, not someone who one week will play centre back and then next week fill in for babayaro who has gone and sprained a finger nail breakdancing in blu bambu.

What on earth is going on with our transfers??? A blind monkey could have told you we needed a left back 6 months ago!! Why have we still not got one? We are not going to be able to magically create a left back out of thin air and so when one is on the market why are we letting the mackems have him? Im not saying he is the ideal player but we are getting towards a position of utter desperation in the full back areas. It doesnt matter one bit if you have good centre backs if the full backs are as retarded as babayaro and carr.

I couldnt care less whether he stays or goes. When he plays well i like him as a player, but when you look back at his time here that good game is basically once a month when hes "fit". I think the majority of fans would agree in saying that hes absolutely nothing to us - if hes there fine he plays pretty well, if hes not do you really notice/care? What is important though is increasing the size of our squad rather than decreasing it, and if he goes then its just another body out the door with a sudden flurry of transfer activity becoming less and less likely before the window slams shut.

I don't really care what it is, who did it, whether its money laundering or murder. All i want to know is will it affect the team, allardyce, chris mort or mike ashley. If one of you supposed 'ITK' people could just clarify this simple point then that would be much appreciated. All it requires is one sentence to do this, no names of sources or whatever other stuff you feel you cant say.

It is a really poor decision in terms of setting a precedent as well, as the premier league could never be able to justify docking points for a lot of other things in the future. Any club faced with a points deduction would simply say 'u didnt dock west ham points so u can't do it to us'. It gives up one of the premier leagues main trump cards in disciplinary matters and gives even more power to the clubs.

A question for Martin Jol, if spurs went to play at wembley whilst renovations at White Hart Lane were going on, what do you think the average attendance would be ie how much of it could you fill? And in the inevitable event that its a low number, would it not be a total waste of time/space/money etc?
-
Martin Jol you criticise a quote coming from the Express, but are wetting yourself in excitement about a link with a player in the DAILY MAIL??? You do realise that the Mail lies on a daily basis about most things right? And on the whole spurs to wembley thing, I think that would be an absolute shame and yet another example of the FA whoring their amazing stadium around, when it should be reserved for special occassions. Spurs would be able to fill 50% of it at most anyway.

I really wish Tottenham fans for once would just shut the hell up. So what they have some fancypants scout named comolli...who the fuck cares? thats about the best thing they have! They concede more goals than us, their ground is total crap, they are not in European competition as often as us, and for the love of god they play JERMAINE JENAS!!!!!!!!! I just find it ridiculous to see spurs fans prattering on on our board that they are good. it really does just boggle the mind. NUFC are a joke, but spurs in one of their best periods for a LONG time are just total comedy!

The nationals start to call Roeder to task on his excuses
Thorpinho replied to BottledDog's topic in Football
I don't think roeder is a good manager. I don't think our defence is very good at all. But some of the stuff in this thread is so way over the top its unbelievable, comments like we are a laughing stock and the general consensus seems to be that we are the worst team in the league! This is debatably one of our worst teams over the last 10-15 years with arguably one of the worst managers - and we are still in 11th place. If we are such a laughing stock then what are Boro, Blackburn Wigan? And lets take a look at Spurs - 48 goals conceded to our 43, and i wasn't laughing at newcastle on sunday because i was too busy laughing at tottenhams comedy defending against wigan which boumsong and bramble at their peak of shiteness couldn't of achieved. -
Northern Monkey i agree that it sounds ridiculous, and the only reason i posted it was to see if anyone knew of any reason why this could be categorically untrue so i could tell my friend who is convinced this is going to happen (and in his words it is "all over the wednesday forums") to shut up.

Is it even possible for SJH to buy sheff wed? I would have thought there would be some kind of conflicting interests with having large shares in 2 clubs
-
A friend of mine is a sheff wed fan and keeps going on about Sir John Hall being linked with buying Sheffield Wednesday. I have told him this does not really make any sense as the guy is pretty old and I was under the impression that he still owned a substantial part of NUFC. Does anyone know anything about this?

I think Martins has the same problem as Ameobi, they both see something happen and THEN move. If Owen was to help him with anticipation, movement and positioning then we would have an awesome striker. Too often I have seen Martins running in a straight line towards the goal down the middle of the pitch.

I see quite a few people here havnt seen very much of Kuyt, so i thought i would give some information on him. I live with dutch guy who is an absolutely fanatical feyenoord fan and he goes on and on about how good this guy is. He makes us all watch Eurogoals aswell so i have seen quite a bit of him now. Firstly he is a good finisher and scores all types of goals both feet and headers, long range and tapins. His hold up play and passing also looks fairly good. Perhaps the most impressive thing about him though is his attitude and professionalism. In much the same way as Shearer i get the iimpression that Kuyt would die before he faces defeat. He never ever causes problems for the club and is a great leader for Feyenoord. My dutch friend always says how Kuyt has played many times this season with illnesses and injuries. I personally value this attitude to the club and record of playing through pain very highly, especially considering owens record of hardly playing. If we were to buy Kuyt we would get a highly professional player who would run himself into the ground and bag a fair few goals along the way. Oh and interestingly my housemate also doesnt rate Huntelaar as highly as Kuyt, saying that Huntelaars phenomenal goal tally last season was due largely to the fact that he played RBC (the dutch leagues version of the mackems but worse) 4 times twice for Heerenveen and twice for ajax, bagging about 12 or 13 goals against them.
