  1. Just caching up on all of this. I would he absolutely delighted with Emery personally, fingers crossed it comes off and the deal doesn't fall down at the final few hurdles. Nowhere for the players to hide with a manager of this calibre coming in.

    Rafa Benítez

Pretty inevitable that he'll be sacked shortly after we bring someone else in. Don't think the return is meant to be.
  3. I've seen this sentiment repeated a lot, but it's a big ask to just go out and win a world cup or a Euros like, they have some talent but haven't exactly been favourites going into any of the tournaments he's managed. His premier league record would be more concerning, but perhaps if you were giving him the benefit of the doubt, would be far enough into the past to look beyond now.
  4. Don't believe that's the case at all, we may not get a "top" manager in the Conte bracket, but there are plenty of candidates in the next tier down who would undoubtedly give it a crack if offered it.
  5. If he doesn't fancy himself to overturn a 3 point gap in 28 games, he probably isn't the man tbh.

    as usual, on here.
  7. Don't have a problem with the patient, methodical approach, but would like to see this sorted early this week. Give the new manager the game against Brighton to get a feel for the work that needs doing during the international break, then have a good crack at Brentford.

he isn't a manager, judging his value to the club on his team selections and tactics as a caretaker is daft. His job is to put the cones out not pick the team. Bruce may have turned to him for advice in that regard in the past, but again that says more about Bruce than Jones. A competent manager will quickly know if he's got anything about him as a coach, and if he hasn't he'll be out the door.
  9. Reasonably decent first half IMO. We've been pretty organised defensively, but obviously have no fret whatsoever at the other end of the pitch. If we can hang on for a point it would be a fantastic result, but I suspect Chelsea will find a way through.
  10. We have to remember that the bloke is a coach, like, and a competent manager will judge him on that in time. If he had influence over Bruce's team selection, tactics and managerial decisions as it appears he did by his own team selections, then that's an indictment on Bruce, not Jones.
  11. Dunno like, I reckon starting Fraser is a pretty hard decision, I know I'd struggle to make it.
  12. Surely the difference is the change in ambition now? If an underwhelming manager comes in, they'll soon be out the door if they underperform. It's not like in the previous era where a Martinez would come in and be stuck here forever as long as we were on track to finish 17th. I'll get behind any manager on the basis that the correct decisions will be made by the owners if the performances are inadequate.
  13. Would be disappointed with Martinez too, but surely he isn't going to walk 12 months before a world cup anyway?
  14. I was very impressed with how well drilled Ajax were against Dortmund last week like, they're extremely fluid and every player knows their role, which is usually indicative of a manager who has a plan and knows what he's doing; we've seen plenty at NUFC on the opposite end of the spectrum to be able to compare. Any manager we employ will have an element of risk associated given the position we're in, we aren't going to get the best of the best, but I'd prefer an exciting up and coming coach to one whose limitations we're already familiar with, ie Howe, Lampard etc.
  15. To be fair, if you're accepting reliable media sources only, then literally no manager has ever been linked to any club ever.
  16. Pretty much anybody other than Fonseca or Ten Hag would be a bit underwhelming, which is an absolutely mental thing to type given what we've been through, but there it is.

Aye, always felt like a strange appointment by the club and a surprisingly naive move by Rafa. We'd be exactly the same if there was an alternate universe where we appointed champions league winning Peter Reid.
  18. Disappointing to see people turning on ASM like, he had a poor game but was isolated. Didn't think he worked any less hard than usual off the ball personally. Just wasn't his day.
  19. Weird game. Worst I've seen us play from an attacking perspective in years, but I'm absolutely convinced we lose that game under Bruce. Jones isn't the answer, but that was already obvious.
  20. If anything has held consistently true since the takeover was completed, it's that the journos know nowt. All complete guesswork.
  21. Not surprised ASM loves him like, the absolute reliance on him has made him stand out as one of the league's better players.
  22. Yep, said pretty much exactly this last week. They aren't looking at this situation through the eyes of us fans who are sick of Bruce's shit. Objectively, time is on their side to make the right decision.
  23. The new owners celebrating the early goal was one of the first times I've felt a positive emotion watching this club for years. Shame Bruce and the players quickly pissed all over it, but hopefully an early glimpse of what football will feel like to watch again going forward.
  24. Pathetic, heartless, lifeless performance, a fitting end for Bruce and the last remnants of the previous regime.
  25. At the start of last week it looked like he was going to be stood in the dugout forever, just relax man
