Good. Needed another one in around the level of Mbemba and Lascelles for competitiion and maybe most of all safeguarding against injuries. Lascelles had a quite bad injury record at Nottingham, so no guarantees that he will be available throughout the whole season.

In my mind we are not selling what we had, we are selling what we could have had next season. I am almost certain he will shine in a better team for a better manager (meaning Klopp vs McClaren), being more used to the english game, and prove that his price tag was justified. Realistically we were never going to keep him here after relegation anyway, and in the end it's probably for the best. We get a decent amount which can be saved for improving the squad when we are back in the premiership.

Wouldn't be surprised if he dragged it out himself for that very reason. He loves when clubs do worse after he leaves so he can gloat about it in the media.

It sort of puts it a bit into perspective as well why a lot of players chase the quick money, changing clubs etc. Short career, and could end even faster.

This is bollocks. Even statistically, he was our most creative player last season in terms of chances created. I'm very comfortable assessing his stats against other players in his position in shite-mid table teams last season to make the comparison. He's basically, the complete opposite of Nobby Solano, in that he's huge, strong and garbage with his final ball. Solano was a proper midfielder imho. He played the game with his head first, everything else followed. This big dopy cunt just barges through people and fucks up his final ball/pass/shot/cross. Last Season, Sissoko (1 goal and 7 assists) across an entire season. 1 goal and 7 assists is 18% of the goals we scored last season. Not too shabby contribution if you ask me.

I can't really see how he can top the Hodgson slide.

If I were Villa i´d do anything in my power to get rid of Lescott and Richards. Their arrogance last season was quite something, and to believe it will be any better this season when they probably think they are way to good for this league could potentially make things even worse.

No surprise he went first. Our best player, english and has a low release clause. We already have a more than adequate replacement in. No worries.

As Beren says, applied himself while he was here. No hard feelings personally. He will probably regret it when he realises how big change it is going from Benitez to Pardew, but that is his problem, not ours. He played well for us, but he is very replaceable if we get straight back up.

And fans opinions doesn't necessarily reflect the actual ability of a player as well, clouded by personal emotion towards the player. France regular, captain of his club (after Benitez came in), most assists, most created chances, most successful dribbles. But nah, Paul fucking Dummett is a better player Hes stroppy cunt, his heart is not in it and he wants to leave. Fine, fuck him. Even though he is good, he is by no means irreplaceable, especially not in the championship. Let him leave as long as Benitez gets what he is asking for. He played 90 minutes in almost every game this season and scored one goal That's below par for a defender, never mind an attacking midfielder. He is one of the biggest reasons (player wise) why we got relegated, calling him our best or second best player is laughable. Most assists this season, but that was too convenient to add to the arguement I guess. Feel free to name some names of better players in the squad though. People hate him due to his persona, I get it. I don't like him either. To say he is a shit footballer though is just ridiculous and impressively contradictory as I assume many of his criticts are in the "trust in Rafa"-brigade - and Rafa made him captain of the team. Janmaat, Lascelles, Mbemba, Dummett, Townsend, Wijnaldum, Tiote and Mitrovic were all comfortably better, a few of those I'm not a fan of at all. I don't care one bit about his personality to be honest, he can say he wants to leave however much he wants, if he had performed on the pitch I would have been happy with him. Forget I asked. Lascelles, Dummett and Tiote ffs Keep telling yourselves that stats doesn't matter (besides goals), that he is spineless, arrogant, no end product, no technique as it clearly makes you feel less butthurt that he doesn't want to follow us down in the championship.
