Deep down I feel some sort of positivity about things but I'm worried that as of now Nolan and Smith are first choice.. and Butt might still get a new contract.. his experience is VITAL after all. I think we all know where such a midfield will take us in the premiership..

I like Lovenkrands a lot but even in his better days, he doesn't do much more than a static Carroll. And I know which one of the two is easier to play against. As for Ameobi, the guy is a horrible injury prone confidence player.. Like, I've said before, he might score the odd goal but he'll never form a remotely decent partnership with anybody, because he's usually too busy to play within and against himself. 10 years of complacency is enough - goodbye. Even if he comes back and scores 20 goals till the end of the season, I'd still sell him at the first offer.. same goes for Nolan

The truth is we can't afford/attract better than Carroll at the moment and like it or not, he's our best striker.

yep.. he compensates his technical shortcomings with aggressive play, I like that. And by aggressive, I don't mean stupid flying tackles.. he's a rather powerful dribbler. On paper Colo and Williamson should be a decent CB pairing.

Not disagreeing at all as you are right but at times there were 2 or 3 clear options but whoever was dwelling just didn't seem to want to release. I tend to think it is more a mixture of the two which is a horrible predicament. Our players supply little or no movement and the player with the ball has no idea what to do with it. That's how I see it too. It really looks like they don't have any kind of attacking/possession tactical training.. I ain't no Leo Messi but I know that when I pass a ball in tight space I have to make myself available right away for a simple return pass, instead of simulating a 'run' straight into three opposition players. Nolan, Smith and Butt are doing this at every opportunity. It's evident they just don't want the ball and that's their main responsibility as midfielders. We cannot afford to carry a dysfunctional midfield week in, week out. We all know that. Hughton's inability to make, what appears to me, a very simple managerial decision so far is very worrying.

Nolan, Butt, Smith, Barton.. The day the last of this sad bunch of clowns leave the club will be a great day for the club. They're all millionaires because of this club and that doesn't seem to motivate them to even get fit? or god forbit, to have more than two decent games a season.. And for all their experience and professionalism they're all quite good at hiding from footballing responsibility..
