    Rolando Aarons

Something like starting a brawl where tables were flying about. That's the sort of thing I was eluding to.... :-)

    Alan Shearer

Fourth from the left in the back row has to be a Srnicek...

    Rolando Aarons

The article says that while the group were dancing and "grinding" with his Aunt that Aarons was laughing and enjoying it all, he only got pissed off when they started to film it. I guess he thought, quite rightly, that they had started to become a little disrespectful at that point. Or maybe he was just worried that someone at the club would see the footage and he would be in bother for something.... like maybe he should be resting and trying to get fit for his job - I am sure that if he was drinking alcohol that his overall progression back to physical fitness would be compromised... There is nothing to say that he was actually drinking alcohol himself by the way... just that loads of 250 quid bottles of champagne got knocked over or thrown...

Why are you trying so hard...? just give up. It really isn't worth it!

Agree with Shintonsghost, the area around the "corner" always has a good atmosphere but, this cannot be heard at the opposite end of the ground. I sit in the East Stand towards the Gallowgate corner and there is almost constant singing from there, I have sat in the Leazes and it sounds like a church apart from the usual mocking of the away fans above. The East Stand, as a rule, would need a bolt of lightening to get the majority of fans back to life.
  6. Yes, he is an upgrade in certain aspects on Dummett but, I had forgetten about Lazaar... Only seen him play once and he didn't look especially assured but, I bet he was quite nervous as it was his debut....

Let's get this into perspective; man comes into the NUFC forum (albeit the Sunderland thread) with the user name of an Indie Rock band claiming not to be a mackem, then uses a couple of "youth culture" words mixed in to the posts and dropping in some cool band names that he is in to while claiming to be 65 years old.... This is the exact opposite of what we expect from mackems, they are generally old while claiming to be young so they can fiddle with 15 year olds... I am really confused...

Don't know too many 65 years old folks who use the words "mint" referring to something good (rather than the herb used on lamb chops) or freaking as an expletive... Aye Carumba!
  9. How far is Haidara away from challenging for the first team left back slot? Significantly more athletic player who should be starting ahead of Dummett. Although I would take Dummett in left back all season if Rafa agreed never to play Colback again!

Watching MoTD on Sunday morning as I usually do on any weekend. When Van Arnholt scored that rather lucky equalizer - off he went with an exaggerated shisha pipe smoking celebration, not quite in the same vein as Robbie Fowler snorting up the white lines but, surely worthy of a season long suspension, possibly a prison sentence??
  11. One of the big issues I have with Dummett is that when the ball is played to him he tends to back away as the ball rolls towards him which allows the attacking player from the opposition to close him down more, when he does eventually step up to play the ball he invariably strikes it off the advancing player and out for a throw either where he is standing or in most cases actually further back towards our own goal. I think he is trying to buy time so that his slower than average football brain can determine where he should kick it, perhaps looking for the pass he needs to make. A better or more accomplished player would have his pass already mapped in his mind so as soon as the ball arrives he can make the play. He is a concern but, far less of a concern than the likes of Colback who is just awful. Last night Colback and Diame were just being carried by the rest of the team, I am so surprised that Rafa doesn't see it the way that we do.
  12. In the East Stand - when their third goal went in, thanks to an absolutely massive deflection, there were some audible groans and a certain amount of murmuring - definitely no boo's. A few people got up to start to walk out but, before they got down the first flight of stairs they turned around to come back (on the whole) because Gayle scored to bring us back into the match. Personally I cannot make myself leave early, I only ever did once and that was many years ago when we were stuffed by Blackburn, or was it Birmingham, in a cup game.... You simply never know what this team is going to do. Amazing scenes at the end with everyone in the ground up on their feet - even the East Stand dwellers were singing. The players must love that, Lascelles leading the team to applaud the crowd at the end!! what a tremendous captain he is! Best atmosphere that I can remember for many years!
  13. I am going to say no because my son plays on a Saturday morning and his game clashes with yours. Thanks anyway.
  14. Probably still be quicker than me. I am going to say probably not.... haha I will think about coming along - I love playing football - currently play 5 a side once a week. Ok to put you down as a yes? What are the details? Where and what time etc? What even is this. Thread title and OP. OK, I accept that was a daft question but, the where bit is reasonably relevant... huh?

  17. How do you feel about someone quite old, ~50, joining to play?

Anyone seen that clip on Facebook with Jamie Carragher talking about his problem with Sunderland? Basically saying that they are rubbish all season and then miraculously pull out of the bag this last minute escape from relegation, then goes on to say how they celebrate their survival as if they actually won something. Really seems to genuinely dislike the club! Please post the clip if anyone has it.. funny!

Does anyone actually "give the V's" these days? Is it still a thing? Actually laughing to myself at the thought of some random bloke in a Newcastle top standing near to some well dressed Sun'lun fans sticking his two fingers up at them at regular intervals... Just asking for a pie to be thrown in my opinion....
  20. I know it is a lovely idea to use lower prices to attract a decent crowd to support the team in cup games but, behind me was a group of people, mixed age - possibly an extended family - and the first thing I heard them say as they arrived 5 mins after kick off was "which team are we?" Controversial (and not much of a step away from giving out free tickets to schools / university in line with out mackem neighbours) but, why does the club not directly offer group tickets at very low cost to local grass roots football teams. Me and the coach of my sons team brought a load of our lads along to the match, they loved it. We booked early and were able to get a load of seats together. If Newcastle United made an offer really early to the local grass roots teams the ground would be full of kids that are actually interested in football and potentially the fans of the future....
  21. You can pay on the night in the Leazes End as far as I understand.
  22. I actually think he came across OK. I know he has done none of us any favours and only appointed Rafa as a last resort to save his flagging Newcastle United investments but, the whole point of this interview was to answer questions that arose as a result of the parliamentary enquiry into working conditions at Sports Direct... In context that business is enormous and he has tried to retain 100% control over every aspect of it, of course only focusing on the bits that make him money. Hence the HR and day to day concerns of the people that work for him have not been his priority - until now! He seems to be trying to correct some of the problems, zero hours contracts are not his idea, they are a thing that seems to have happened and developed over recent years. These suit some people and don't suit others. So he says he will give contracts that guarantee a minimum number of hours to anyone who wants one, fair enough? He pays what the government tell him is the minimum wage, if it was higher he would pay the higher amount, he said it, he does not set these rules. On the topic of him having a wedge of cash in his pocket.... well why not? He is wealthy, he has risked everything to make his business successful and it paid off. Some of the things he has done are shady - the float and subsequent buy back for example - has pissed off the stock market but, it was not illegal, in the end the stock market itself is as shady as anything he has personally done! I still hate what he has done to our club but, I don't hate him for being successful at business.

By full kit are they saying shorts and socks with the black and white top? I have never seen anyone, except maybe youngsters, dressed in full kits at the match. (definition of youngsters is like under 10 and accompanied by a normally dressed parent or guardian)
  24. That is very inconvenient! I like a pre-match pint in that vicinity... I now have to rethink my whole day.... my mind is racing...... Haymarket Metty is near Sgt Peppers, sorted Mint, cheers! Is it any good in Sgt Peppers? (haha) Best bar in Newcastle. So will I see you all in there then? Excellent... However, it is likely that I will give that one a swerve for somewhere a little more, erm.... better / less weird....
