As a player he's pretty good, I watched some videos of England training when he was in the squad a while back and he looked very sharp. He's kind of become a comedy character but it's way exaggerated. And the fact that he's also coming in alongside Pope makes me feel OK about it. Not excited but fine considering where we are.

Well it's quite obvious that what we have now isn't the planned structure. Our CEO got cancer and our DOF quit right before the window. I'm 90% sure that we will have a professional setup in place before long, it's just not in time for this summer (which admittedly is a failure, especially the CEO).

He's paid less than more successful players that have made moves to richer clubs. That's fair enough, it's just unlucky for him that he signed a 6-year deal at Newcastle. He didn't have to. I don't begrudge him a new deal but it would always have to be something that is affordable for the club. Otherwise it's regrettable for his bank balance but not a crime and not something that justifies being a dick.
