To be fair Milner today showed why we were right to snap Villa's hands off for £12m. A hardworking player, but lacks pace and crossing and shooting ability. The way Setanta were saying he has pace etc before the game was laughable. It's like they just recite the 'rough guide to premier league reputations' before every game.

We haven't always looked good under Kinnear but I think we have been improving. Obviously one of the biggest factors is the players returning from injury.

How? How? How? How was that again?
-
Brilliant save again by Shay to keep the sheets clean, but credit for the general level of defending. Keep Enrique at leftback, keep this back four the same as long as they're fit.

Solid job from Joe, could turn out to be a lot better than solid if we keep this going.

Potentially Still Quite Useful

Table is very tight, that's why we need to keep the momentum going - we can't rely on any shit teams to go down easily this year. Well not as easily as usual anyway. -
Not now I wouldn't, don't look back at any other posts I've made in this thread mind! On the up now baby!

The problem Villa have is that their strengths are too obvious and to some extent they're one dimensional. If you can control the balls down the line to the wide men you have a good chance against them. -

Can't stop smiling at the moment, not only a massive result but a more than decent performance to go with it. I'll admit I never thought we could win this one, but the lads did us all proud. Confidence back, players back, winning ways back. Chuffed I'm going to Fulham now. On the minus side, how shit were the commentators on Setanta? Couldn't stop mentioning anything negative to do with Newcastle. Don't care now though! -
Saw Martin Keown in Oxford the other day, strange.

what do you think of coloccini and gutierrez ? Pair of them are definitely better than we had. Ask me again at the end of February when I see how they handle the winter but they both are OK IMO. As for xisco, pace is not something you switch on and off just because you come on for 20 minutes. You either have it or you don't and from what I've seen so far there is nothing in his game to suggest he is any faster than shambles. I couldn't really give a fuck what deportivo fans think as spanish fans rated the likes of luque and marcelhino. Just about sums them up really. Just about sums some Newcastle fans up that they would right off a promising young lad, who by all accounts has worked hard whenever he's been on, after a tiny number of appearances.

Have to admit I buy all my football stuff at Sports Direct, socks, shorts and trainers. The best value by far... and one of the few sports shops that actually sell sports gear and not just clothes for charvers.

There's only one quote in that (shit) article though, and it doesn't even go close to saying what the headline and introduction imply.

Could flirting with relegation be the way forward?

On the OP, it might be tempting to see a positive in being down the bottom that we will get a lot of workers in to replace any 'flair' players, but the last thing we should want as fans is to have 11 cloggers wearing the black and white. If you spend too long down the bottom you start to turn into Bolton. At the moment we're getting by (kind of) on potential and past successes, but it won't last forever. -
Very reasoned posts by Tom and peaspud I have to say, if you conduct yourselves like that in future no NUFC fan can have many complaints. Obviously we should have learned to take any media reporting with a massive pinch of salt. All I would say following from that is, if you don't want people to take the papers' reports at face value it is absolutely essential that the NUSC has a credible, professional website that carries clear communications as soon as possible after each meeting. Then we can know what to believe.

Not sure what point you're making there man, surely any set of fans will have their own opinions and debate amongst themselves - that's healthy. And those who don't want to support the protests would be expected to 'not deny themselves a pint', by which I assume you mean continue as normal. I don't get it.
-
Are other clubs as bad as us though? It gets stupid sometimes IMO. Maybe it's the price we pay for having passionate fans, I mean you don't see it happening at Fulham but then they don't have any atmosphere anyway.
-
Both right, I've been saying for ages that doing 'anything' isn't always better than doing nothing - in fact this is a prime example of how hasty action can be harmful.
-
Will there be any minutes of the meeting released or anything like that? Would be very interested to see if anyone raised the moderate point of view or if everyone was completely anti-Ashley.

Bassong and Cacapa are so far ahead of Taylor it's daft man Taylor is in the team as the big stopper. Those two are far better defenders but pair them with Coloccini and we might be vulnerable in the air. We are even with Taylor in there tbh. he stops f*** all and backs off all the time though. Anyone would think he's the sweeper If there is one thing that I find unforgiveable in a defender it is when they continously back off an advancing attacker. I hate it with a passion. It is probably my biggest problem with Taylor. Justin Hoyte is another who specializes in this brainless tactic. Face up to the player, try and time it right and get a challenge in. I have seen Taylor back off till he is literally just outside the 6 yard box. It is criminal. If anything you want to make sure you get your challenge in before the opposing player is in the penalty box for goodness sake. It makes me cry. I've wondered about that for years, but it happens so often I can only think that it must be coached as the best way to defend.

Insane but not that rare.
