  1. Don't why that article feels the need to say 'and with Xisco not looking the finished article'. We all know that, he was never meant to be, but put him on the pitch now and he'll have more impact than Shola anyday.
  2. Klinsmann Vieira Cantona Zola that I can think of at the moment...
  3. Born in Gateshead, live in Oxford via spells in Maidenhead and Reading.
  4. There's no reason to boo one of your own players, it's idiotic. I'm not a massive fan of Cole as a person but anyone who booed him should be ashamed of themselves. I've no idea what motivated it either, to be honest. Yes, he's annoying, but there's been plenty of England players who fit that description. Was it for the actual mistake or because of his personality off the pitch?
  5. I don't think there really is that much difference, that's a very good point. I think FS did interfere with transfers, although to what degree we don't really know. Same as now then? Yeah, I've never argued otherwise.

  7. Of course, a milliom miles better off. This goes to the core of why the fans have to take their share of the blame for our current situation. If we had not reacted in the way we did the transition would have been (relatively) painless and we would be back to talking about football again now. We would still be struggling a bit due to injuries but everything would be a lot better than it is.
  8. He doesn't do it on purpose, but then again he might not always have helped himself stay fit by a combination of attitude and general health/fitness. I don't like to slag off players who are injured, but it is frustrating.
  9. Apart from the £8m+ he's cost us aye. I know, I just meant he won't be a loss to the team as he was never in it.
  10. I generally agree, if we just concentrated on supporting the team we would be a lot better off. And if you don't like what's happening, don't go. But the role of a football fan is a complex one, isn't it? We're 'customers' obviously, so we expect to be provided with a good product. But at the same time we can be buying the product but still unhappy about what we're seeing, and expressing that unhappiness can make things a lot worse. And football is so close to peoples' hearts, it's not like we can just stop supporting, and it is hard to see your beloved club going through so much shit. I don't think the fans can win either way, they can't do anything about the situation except make it worse by vocally objecting. A tough situation to bear.
  11. Not being able to get a shot on goal isn't the same as not trying to!
  12. I know this won't be popular, but if I was to make a ranking of 'who is to blame' for this whole mess, Jimenez and Vetere would be right at the bottom. Keegan and Ashley I couldn't choose between, and the fans would be nearer the top end of the table.
  13. care to tell us what he done wrong ? Care to tell me what he done right? i've no idea.neither have you . why do you seem so happy for him to go when you have as much evidence he was doing well as poorly. Well we don't know the actions the Jimenez personally took. But we do know that the results of the recruitment team over recent months have been pretty good. Other people have already listed some good young players we managed to get in for not a lot of money.
  14. I rate the Guardian generally but it is amazing how they maintain Louise Taylor on the staff. It's like they think just because it's sport they need a couple of cretins in the department.
  15. It is more difficult to pour scorn on someone who was visible and communicated with the fans a little bit. Even though that wasn't Jimenez' job, it's easy enough for fans to scapegoat people that they don't know anything about.
  16. It's not his fault but it is frustrating. And it shows up the club for signing someone with his suspect health and fitness record in the first place. I think people are just annoyed because they know he could do a decent job for us at the moment if he good get fit.
  17. Agreed, even on Wise nobody really knows what happened.
  18. Viduka, Mido and Beattie would all have been very average signings, but at least Beattie plays the odd game. I'd be suprised if Viduka appears again for the first team, and I won't miss what I never had.
  19. Jimenez seems to have done his recruitment job very well, and I see no reason for him to be hated by our fans. Still, he would have doubtless been removed anyway by the new owners, so he's just getting out now of his own accord.
  20. That statement as a standalone I tend to rather agree with, but in the case of this thread it almost seems out of place. The NUSC is releasing press statements which are neither reasoned nor helpful. They're more blind prejudice and inflammatory. So true. As I've said doing something is only better than doing nothing if the action you take is beneficial. In this case we would be better off if they hadn't released these statements.
  21. I still think it did look rosy, and it all made sense. Maybe we'll never know the real reason why it all fell apart, everything seems to point to just personality clashes and a breakdown of relationships. Weird.
  22. If they agreed to work with the current owner in the event that he can't find a buyer, I would be a lot more inclined to believe that they reall did have the best interests of the club at heart.
  23. The idea that speaking up and forming a group is, by default, better than not doing is nonsense. As I've said before, I think agitation along the lines of what NUSC are suggesting so far can achieve nothing but negative outcomes. So I'm not taking part. What am I going to start up, a moderate NUFC supporters group that proposes getting behind the team and not making knobs of ourselves? Not exactly a political movement is it?
  24. Sweet jesus I had some hope for NUSC but the more I hear from them the more misguided they appear. I really hope nobody with any influence is taking these people seriously.
  25. Well the club is in turmoil and has been put up for sale. Why are you still expecting Ashley to subsidise the squad with £20m? That was his plan when he was sitting with the supporters as owner with KK in charge. Things have moved on quite a bit since then. I was referring to the the "everything rosy" scenario pre-shitstorm - his alleged plan would have failed with falling match income leading to the £20m not being used for transfers. But 'pre-shitstorm' things were going alright weren't they, so why do you assume falling match income?
