  1. Cut the ball from Mifusd, turned around, outside of the foot from 50 yards straight to the path of Owen who scored Thought it came fairly out of nowhere, awesome. I thought Enrique looked reasonably good, especially in the tackle where he's immense at muscling people off the ball. Will be great, just needs to be eased in and developed.
  2. I thought Geremi started really well, and I was planning to come on here saying how he should be in the team for sure, but he really faded quite quickly.
  3. Didn't get that good a view of the pass tonight, anyone care to talk me through it?
  4. Just got back due to turning back onto the motorway rather than off for my house With a forward on the pitch the scoreline would have been embarrassing. We were unlucky not to score a couple more, and if we had the game would have been over at half time. A few players still rusty, Beye included. I thought Bassong looked really comfortable and assured which is excellent. From that performance he would be pushing Taylor quite hard for a league starting place. Zog looked much happier in an attacking role, though Jonas did have an average game (based on huge expectations of course). Was always going to be a tricky tie, just happy to be 'in the hat'.
  5. The West Ham guy is Freddy Sears. Eastwood use to play for Southend and Wolves, also has some pace on him. Ah right, though I was mixed up, cheers.
  6. Is Freddy Eastwood the guy on loan from West Ham? If so I'm pleased he's not playing, looked pacy and dangerous last season.
  7. I'm off home in a few minutes as well, hoping the traffic's not going to be too bad. Got a couple of hours to get there though, howay the lads.
  8. I like SWP but I worry he would frustrate a lot of our fans with his hit-and-miss end product. On balance would like to see him here though, a bit of pace on the right would balance us out nicely.
  9. I always though he looked quality when he was at City, though didn't see him that much.
  10. Not sure whether I'd rather have Malouda or SWP. I suppose either would be good.
  11. I'd actually be surprised if we did buy a specialist LB, seems KK does see Zog as a viable option there. And with Jonas the LW position is pretty much occupied.
  12. Yeah, it's only 10:25 in that article, 12:30 is a much better time to join Arsenal.

    Andy Gray

He's getting on my nerves a bit now but he's a saint compared to Alan fucking Green
  14. Nah, it can't be turmoil, they're a London club.
  15. I was up in the Leazes corner and it sounded good from there. Not sure about how it sounded around the ground, but there was definitely more singing than your average match. The nervy performance might not have helped at times.
  16. Yep, loving it. Would be nice to get a lead so he can come on and get half an hour without too much riding on it.
  17. I love KK, let's hope he gets his way.
  18. Signing Silverstre and getting rid of Senderos would seem a strange move. As for us, I'd be happy to see him here, often gets judged similarly to Pascal Cygan who he's much better than.

True, we don't have anyone to play the Alan Shearer role, playing nearly every game and getting the goals. Hopefully someone will prove themselves this season, hopefully Owen but maybe Ashton or even Bent. If Rooney plays deep I still think he needs to curb his instincts for tracking back... we don't really need to see him tackling in the left-back position!
  20. Nah, we're talking about a hypothetical way that more people might be able to watch the match in future. Not sure what the deal with Sky would be when they opened up the possibility of showing Saturday 3pm games, I'm sure if the rights were available Sky and Setanta would throw some money at it. There might still be some for the clubs themselves to pick up though I suppose.

not seen enough of young, but he's basically a winger right? system i'm on about here the wider players wouldn't be wingers as such, has young got more to his game? Yeah he's basically a winger but he does have a lot to his game in terms of creating and scoring goals, as well as counter-attacking with pace. Basically I think we often complicate things with England, partly because we're trying to fit in the star players, and partly because everybody wants to be the playmaker. We need less players that get the ball and look to play the killer pass, and more than are content just to pass and move neatly. Everyone wants to be the star, we need one or two of those but far more tidy players.

I'm a bit concerned with Rooney as well, for club and country he's turned himself into the worker that sacrifices himself for the team. All well and good, but we've got less talented players that could do that. I worry that in a year's time we'll be talking about whether Rooney should be an automatic choice or not, which would be a shame considering his potential.
