When I lived in Durham I saw a couple of Sunderland players move in, seems anywhere except Sunderland will do. -

That's class, he won't live in Newcastle but can't wait to get a flat in Sunderland?! -
If we got Joe Cole I'd explode.

I know, seems we'll have to get used to the fact that recruitment is more of a team effort these days in football. I imagine it's the same at many clubs, we need to think of Wise/Jimenez as kind of executive scouts, with the power to not only find players but to actually recruit them. Just hope they are working very closely with KK to identify what the team needs and get the right men in. So far there's no reason to think otherwise... so I'm sticking behind the system. Also, there's no way Ashley would finance spending on players that would cause a rift in the dressing room, so I imagine the teamwork must be tight and KK's input must be significant.

I'm not really holding my breath for a multi-million pound superstar to be honest. Although I'd love someone truly world class to come in, I'd be just as happy with another couple of signings along the lines of Colo/Jonas/Guthrie. It seems the club is putting much greater 'quality control' on signings this time around, and no one will brought in that they aren't 100% sure about. So no punts on anyone with the slightest hint of being unfit/too old/past it/too lightweight for the premiership. For the first time in a while I've got confidence that are signings will be good ones. Whether that's down to Wise, Jimenez, Ashley or KK - something is working.

So true, such shit is talked about Newcastle fans being fickle and how we expect to win the league/silverware. I think if you asked 99% of fans they would say we just want a team we can be proud to stand behind, a manager who approaches the game in the right way... and a club that's run not too make us the laughing stock of the league. It's hard to believe how much has changed from the previous regimes... I just hope KK is a bit more robust and mature now and can roll with the downs as well the ups. There's nobody like him, so he needs to stick around for a long time yet.

He's a positive person and his teams certainly reflect that. Pretty amazing after experiencing the first KK era that we're going to get another one. You're spoiling us Kev...

The number of cheers that went up in Oxford when Man Utd scored was an embarassment. Just made it all the sweeter to get something from the game. I can guarantee they weren't all exiled Mancs as well!

Pompey's away kit is also horrible.
-
I can see why he's hanging on for a West Brom or other lower Prem club. He obviously has a lot of belief in himself and thinks (however wrongly) that he can cut it in the premiership.

BEFORE EVERYONE GETS CARRIED AWAY - Lets consider this...

I'm all for realism but we're entitled to feel more than a little bit pleased about how things turned out yesterday. When I sat down to watch it I still had that Allardyce feeling in my stomach where I fear we're going to go to a good team, lie down and take it in every hole. The fact that we took the game to them, played some nice football on the ground and still came away with a point is fantastic. We shipped 6 at Old Trafford a few months ago ffs. Our objectives in terms of finish this season haven't changed (i.e. nobody is saying we're going to come 4th now), but it's a lovely way to get started.
