    Sunderland...

Bruce is going to be whinging and moaning all week and coming out with all sorts of excuses and looking to blame the media or the fans for his own incompetency I always have to turn the radio off when he comes on so goodness knows how his players cope with having to hear him drone on day after day.
  3. I saw Mort at a couple of games with his family in the away end when we were in the Championship. I was surprised to see him there when he no longer had any ties with the club. I wonder if he is still attending the odd game these days.
  4. All the gambles pre-relegation failed and post-regulation, they have come off. His luck is going to change again at some point.

    Alan Pardew

No me too! But i believed it as yesterday i was told from a reliable source...that Pardew resigned immediately after Deadline day after the club failed to sign a Striker. He was persuaded back with an increase in his already low salary. This is a very good source and i wouldn't post it if i didn't believe it myself. I heard the same at the Forest game. I can't remember who told me so I can't say whether they are normally reliable or not!!!
  6. Interesting that the Wolves fans have already picked up on how good Cabaye is.
  7. The guy played an important role for us in the last 2 seasons - he helped galvanise a demoralised squad with his leadership skills and scored some important goals. Let's just be grateful for his contribution and move on.
  8. If West Ham get promoted, I can see Allardyce going for him - seems to think he discovered him anyway conveniently forgetting he had already made his debut for the first team before he arrived. However, if he can't settle in Liverpool, I can't imagine London would be any better. I would love him back. When I hear all the criticism about him and his style of play, I don't recognise the player that we were watching here last season who was improving with every game he played.

    Alan Pardew

What about the three wins he threw away last season and turned into draws?! Didn't Pardew infer that was the fault of the fans and the players - the fans encouraging the players to go for goal instead of protecting their lead.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

One of the local journos said that there was a lot of French media there because of Ben Arfa.
  11. Thought that there were lots of positives to come out of the game. Cannot wait now to see Ben Arfa and Marvaux in the first team. We have some very good players. Considering most of the players last night were playing their first competitive match after injury or hadn't played 90 minutes this season, I thought they did really well - I was concerned going into extra time, that they would all fade badly but they managed to do just enough.
  12. I think his viewpoints can be quite interesting and he does seem to see things from a fan's perspective but often his shows can be unlistenable because he constantly talks and shouts over callers or his co-presenters.
  13. Someone next to me at the match was blaming Taylor for the goal!
  14. Pity they paid us £30m up front for him. If they were paying us over the 5 years of his contract as most clubs do, it might have been possible to get him back but there is no way we can afford him now.

    St James' Park

Looks the brilliant stadium it is there, now with Sports Direct plastered all over the front of both stands and the top of the Gallowgate, it looks pretty disgusting and cheap as f***. Next summer, I fully expect red and blue seats to go in. They'll get plenty of showing the way attendances are heading. Look at all those different advertising boards around the pitch. Now we mostly only have SD plus a few Northern Rock and Puma. From the True Faith match report: Having arrived in the nick of time at Vile Park, humping a true faith flag to be told by a steward on the turnstile all flags were verboten following fears of an anti-Ashley protest (that never happened beyond having a home-made leaflet put into my hand in the coach-park afterwards), yours truly made a late dash to some security hut to leave said 12 x 24 ft banner carrying the words: WE ARE THE MAGS - TRUE FAITH - NEWCASTLE UNITED (admittedly this is pretty subversive, like), rather fetchingly put together in an Italian style three stripe horizontal number, with the surprisingly good natured security gadgie. My weak response to the notification a “blanket ban” shouldn’t include a flag (did you see what I did there?) didn’t charm them into allowing the flag into Vile Park. Funny that. Cannot believe we are asking other clubs to ban all banners incase they are protesting against Ashley and even moreso that other clubs are willing to comply especially at a club like Villa who are fond of the odd banner themselves.
  16. Have to say whenever I have seen him with supporters, I have been impressed with how he has been with them. Always seems to find something to say to every person when he is signing an autograph which is rare as most people only speak if asked a question. He was outside QPR's ground on Monday before the game and was completely surrounded by supporters but happily signing autographs.

    Sunderland...

I know a Sunderland fan who hates Mackems and the town - says he can't get out of the place quick enough when a game is over. (He lives in Northumberland). He can't explain how he has ended up supporting them.
  18. Heard Pardew on the radio this evening saying that they had hoped to play him against Forest so it sounded like he wasn't planning on playing him against Villa.

    St James' Park

I just hope the time will come soon when he will sell up and we can get rid of all the tat. However, the way he is going about it at the moment makes it look like he is planning to hang around for a while - unless he is getting the club so tied in with SD that a new owner would have no choice but to continue with it. I guess the transfer budget will have to be cut next Summer to pay for removing all the branding for the Olympics. I honestly think it has got to the stage where it must be having little or no effect - surely it is just wallpaper now. Wonder how long it will be before they spray the pitch with the logo like they do in some sports events.

On one end of the scale, you have City being overpaid for their sponsorship deals and then us who receive nothing. At the very least, Ashley should be reducing the loan in lieu of direct payment if that is allowed.

    St James' Park

Watched "Who Do You Think You Are" last night with Alan Carr. Ashley must have been cursing missing out on targetting a whole new audience there with the old sign on the East Stand and Carr walking out of the tunnel with Northern Rock and Puma in the background.
  22. Can definitely see him moving into the media when he finishes football providing he stays away from trouble. Can't believe the way the London press are fawning over him now he has moved South. Infact he provides so much copy for them, he should probably be asking for a percentage of their fees.
  23. I think if I had picked which NUFC player Barton would have had words with, Sammy would have been the last one!
