From what I recall at the talk in, he said that they were very close to agreeing a deal in January but then the goalposts were moved and then the Carroll thing happened which made him stop and think about the direction of the club, so he was decided to delay the discussions till the end of the season.

Wonder what the plans are for Ferguson then - back up for the left wing?
-
Thought it was another player but maybe there was more than one.
-
He agreed to a pay cut. The problem is the length of the contract.

I don't think it is the right time for Tiote to leave as he needs at least another season with us as he still has a lot to learn. It will be interesting to see who has the job of calming him down when he on the edge of losing it now Nolan has gone. However, if he continues to do well, I would be amazed if he was not sold next Summer. I just view all new players now as playing for us until an acceptable bid comes through and I would be surprised if if any stay for the duration of their contract.

Just want us to sign some quality goalscorers as currently there are not enough goals in our squad.

I was listening to The Legends before for the first time in about 2 years before - although I only lasted about 10 minutes before I had to turn it off. Anyway, Macdonald was saying that if he was Pardew, he would get rid of all the senior players especially after the way they treated Ferguson. He said that Enrique and Jonas had completely snubbed him on the pitch and would not make themselves available to help him out. Anyone else noticed this at the time (not sure what match he was referring to)? However, I seem to recall Fergie saying in an interview that Jose had been a huge help to him and was always offering him encouragement.

Hasn't he been rubbish at Villa and one of those that fell out with the mangement? And he must be getting on a bit now as well.
-
Other "at least we tried" tactics - Offer a really lucrative contract safe in the knowledge that there is no way the player will accept Make a really low bid for a player knowing that there is no way it will be accepted

At least Nolan is leaving at a time when he is still highly regarded by the supporters and he should always be appreciated for his contribution to the club in the last 2 years. I just hope the club doesn't come out with their usual negative comments when they make an unpopular decision in order to try and deflect any criticism on to the player.

@WayneRoutledge RT @Joey7Barton: RT @JBcommentator: Staggered that Newcastle are letting Kevin Nolan go, great lad, really good player and the leader they needed....big mistake

Colo's English is pretty poor considering he has been here for 3 years. I heard an interview with him at the end of the season - the first time I have heard him speak. Might be a good captain inside the club and on the pitch but I don't think he will want to do the public side of things. Harper said in one of the match programs he has to speak Spanish to Colo and Jose while defending. He said that at a recent talk in too!!

And if Enrique and Gutierrez were to go? I would be disappointed if Enrique goes, but I think it's inevitable. Jonas I want to stay and think he will, the only evidence to the contrary is one tweet by Barton. Losing so many players at once is a risk of course, I'm not denying that. I would rather we were keeping them all. I was told a few months back that Pardew did not rate Jonas but after that he started playing well so maybe Pardew has since changed his mind. Since that conversation though, I have always thought that he was likely to be moved on this Summer.

So we have sold our two top goalscorers last season. I hope that scouting network is as good as they claim because if we don't find a couple of regular goalscorers we will be in trouble next season regardless of how many good midfielders we have.
-
Another one of Pardew's "must hold on to " players leaving. Is he saying one thing in public but something else to Ashley or are they just ignoring what he wants anyway?
-
Nolan always said he would not hang around if he was not wanted. If the club has opened talks with West Ham then it is an indication that he is not wanted. I do not think he is a player motivated by money. I think Allardyce is probably the main factor and at least he will know that the manager wants him. I think this is a big mistake by the club. They better hope that all the foreign players we are buying settle in quickly otherwise we will be up the creek. Experience and leadership is needed but I guess the hierarcchy are nervous of players having an opinion.
-
Why? Most reports suggest we have, no? But then the local media are also saying that he was never the priority more of a back-up option and that the club had reservations about his ANC commitments in which case why make a bid. There is just too many conflicting stories coming out about him to know what the truth is.
-
Ben Arfa was reported to be on £50k a week at Marseilles so I would expect him to be on more than that here.
-
Can't really see why we would need Reo Coker. That journalist Paul Smith said he had been spoken to Llambias yesterday so I guess he has a good source! Agreeing terms though is not quite the same as agreeing to sign. If he gets a better offer elsewhere .......
-
I know Ryan Taylor was part of the deal but I wonder if Wigan are still paying us for Zoggy. I can't imagine they are in a position to pay up front for players.
-
Chopra signs for Ipswich
-
Well Mark Douglas said Pardew is not in Newcastle today in which case, there couldn't be a press conference because no-one else will speak in public.
-
If Liverpool are using Clichy to push us into agreeing a deal, the reported interest from Barca may delay things for a while as surely Jose will choose them over Liverpool.
