    Season Tickets

Just got my confirmation email this morning but I am not moving seats.
  2. I have read comments from journalists where they have said that Liverpool are watching Jose but have reservations about him defensively. So Jose is probably hedging his bets in that he is aware of their interest and would like the move but Liverpool may yet turn elsewhere.
  3. From Football365 * Newcastle United * Joey Barton is the PL's most prolific crosser of the ball with 10.8 per game. * Newcastle have the best record outside the top four against teams in the bottom half of the table this season. * They have won ten of the 11 games they have been winning at half-time this season.
  4. That's how I feel. Carroll had emotional ties to the club - the others don't. So if he can leave, then all of them will as soon as a better club comes in for them so it is a case of enjoying them whilst we can.
  5. I think 95% of the support agree. The other 5% being the total idiots who ripped Carroll at Anfield last week despite the fact that this kid did more and gave more in 18 months than Ameobi has provided in 10 years. I have to say my whole match day experience is spoiled every time he appears on the team sheet. Really a perfect example of why this great club of ours has failed to deliver for years. I have to be honest and say I cannot fathom out how he has managed to play through so many managers. That said, the one who I have the most believe in, KK, nearly had him out the door. I haven't missed a home game for years but have to admit I won't go to any testimonial if he is afforded one. The laziest player I have seen in over 40 years of loving football. They're not idiots for ripping Carroll, you goon. I also think your maths is off as that was probably the entire away support that partook in that abuse. Well I did not take part in the abuse and neither did a lot of the people around me but the abuse was certainly very vociferous.
  6. Maybe Llambias is feeling some guilt because the club's comments and actions at the time only encouraged supporters to think of Carroll as a "Judas" despite the fact it is was always their intention to sell him in January.
  7. Cannot imagine Wichkham coming here. Clubs like Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool are interested and he is supposedly a Liverpool supporter.
  8. Can anyone name a player who has turned down a move to a better club for a huge increase in salary because the supporters and players want him to stay whilst the board tell him they want the money being offered? We haven't sold him for £10m - we got a phenomenal amount of money for him and far more than most believe he is worth. It is not like he has really held the club to ransom - I know he asked for an improved contract - but that did not result in the club being forced to accept a low offer. The club did not have to sell him but they wanted to do so as they knew they would not get as much money for him a few months later. This is what happens and I think we are being overly romantic to think that because he is a Geordie lad, he should choose the club over everything else. A lot of us move away because of better career prospects even though we would rather stay in the area. I am upset and still pretty emotional that Carroll left but I think the abuse being directed to him now is over the top and people should move on. Local lads have always moved on when better clubs came calling. And Shearer is a different case because he came when the club was challenging for things and with a contract that guaranteed that he would always be the top paid player. Hopefully, we will get some decent replacements in (not convinced though) and that might allow us then to move on.
  9. That Spanish correspondent (Graham Hunter) was on the radio this morning talking about an Espanyol striker (Osvaldes??? - can't quite remember the name). Apparently, we have been watching him for ages but all of a sudden Spurs and Man Utd have sent scouts over to watch him this week - infact I think he said 'Arry himself went to watch him. He said we had a head start on the others and that he would be brilliant in the Premier League. I don't know anything about him myself.
  10. I saw a picture of Jose with his dog once - he had it in a Newcastle top!!!!!!
  11. Don't they always have 2 shirts each per match? Occasionally, they have to use the second if they have a blood injury. Players do swap shirts at half-time. I think it tends to happen with the big names as other players are always after their shirts.
  12. From the moment he first appeared in the pre-match warm-up until he went down the tunnel after the game, there was constant singing and chanting against him. So why should he applaud our fans? I think that would probably have been interpreted as a provocative move on his part.
  13. I think it is all about him wanting to play for Spain rather than wanting to leave Newcastle. I would not be surprised that if he signed for say Liverpool, that he would then be called up for the next Spanish squad.
  14. Cannot understand the point of bringing Kuqi on with 10 minutes to go when we are 3-0 down. Surely it would be better to give Phil Airey those 10 minutes to give him some experience. He is the future not Kuqi.
  15. "There's only one greedy b******" "Taylor shagged his lass" And something about him being s***. "You let your city down"
  16. Liverpool fans seemed impressed with what they saw yesterday but I thought he was just OK - certainly not showing the standards he reached earlier in the season.

    Season Tickets

“We haven’t sold so many season tickets at this stage of April for five years. Have the season tickets ever been on sale this early anyway?
  18. Recalling happy memories from last year.
  19. I don't think Liverpool are his "dream move". I think his dream is to play at a level where he will be noticed and called up by Spain and that probably means playing for a team that regularly plays in Europe.
  20. I expect this sort of blame-game s*** from the club but I expected him to be a bit more upfront and honest and for me he hasn't been. I'd have more respect for him if he had. There are several versions of the events of that day and only those that were involved really know what happened. Maybe he is telling the truth - maybe the club is but we will probably never know. In the meantime, everyone else chooses to believe the version they want to believe. If he is telling the truth, why doesn't his version of events add up? Nobody can force someone to sign a transfer request. But the club's version does not add up either. I guess both parties are "selectively" telling the truth.
  21. # He was ridiculously (and in the end, comically) bad in that Swansea game - it was like he had been on the drink the night before.

  23. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2007/feb/12/europeanfootball.sport2?INTCMP=SRCH “Schalke have not won the league since 1958 and their ascent back to the top would have been much more rapid had it not been for chaotic management, an unhealthy tabloid influence and numerous rifts in the team. Gelsenkirchen is a post-industrial city where everything revolves around the team, and that kind of life in the blue goldfish bowl made success hard to come by. You could always rely on them to self-destruct at some stage. Coincidentally, Gelsenkirchen is twinned with Newcastle” http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2007/may/13/newsstory.europeanfootball?INTCMP=SRCH 145,000 see 'German Newcastle' blow it “Schalke, named after a district of Gelsenkirchen, a former coal-mining town, are often compared to Newcastle United. Twinned towns, they share an industrial history, a huge fanbase and are perennial underachievers. They also share a friendship of sorts. Back in 1999, a fan exchange took place. Schalke's representative, Dirk Martensen, set off for the Toon - knitted beer can holder around his neck, wrists decked in blue-and-white scarves - to meet Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd. The two discussed ticket prices: at that time Schalke charged about £3 for the cheapest ticket. 'Oh you won't win anything charging that,' said Shepherd. 'Our fans expect the best players.' Martensen smiled sagely and said, 'We won the Uefa Cup two years ago, what have you won?' “ http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2005/dec/11/sport.comment3?INTCMP=SRCH Preview of World Cup cities in Germany 2006 Is this a football city? Like no other. Home to Schalke 04, 'the people's club', Germany's Newcastle (which is Gelsenkirchen's twin city). They haven't won the title since 1958, but the ground is always full - 61,000 for league games, because seats become terracing - and Schalke's two previous stadiums are still standing. They once crammed 70,000 into their 34,000- capacity old ground for a game in 1931. If you watched Das Boot you'll remember that the whole crew were Schalke fans, constantly talking about the team. Arrive by rail and have a wander and you'll soon be asking: how the hell did this place become a World Cup host city? You'll ask the same question when you discover that, compared to Frankfurt's 25,000, Gelsenkirchen has only 1,900 hotel rooms (all booked in June). The answer is: Schalke. A 'must have' venue.
  24. I know there are some big expensive houses especially in South Wylam but not ones that I would personally associate with footballers - that's all I meant.
