  1. Wouldn't be surprised to see him at Sunderland next season. Totally, tho Fathead still likes to dabble in the transfer market.

    John Carver

Well it will serve them right if they give Carver the job. I see Ameobi qualifies his support for Carver by saying "He’s been around for so long. Everybody is very used to him." As if that is a good reason to give him the job. Would also explain why things never get any better. They say that Ashley has given Charnley full responsibility for appointing the new manager. If that is true and Charnley then appoints Carver who fails, I wonder if that means Charnley's position would be at risk as well.
  3. I think the grudge against Pardew is because he had only just come back from his illness and was told fairly promptly to find a new club. He wasn't given a chance to prove that he had recovered and at that point he was still obviously quite emotional about it all. You would think that most clubs would have at least let him see the season out with them whilst he was recovering and getting himself together before reviewing his future. It looks like we decided he wouldn't offer much because of what he had been through so decided to get rid. As a cold-hearted business decision, it was probably the correct decision but there are times when some human compassion is preferable and I think that would have been more appropriate at that point. We are now at a different stage where he is fully recovered and getting back to fitness. Unfortunately for him, he is out of contract at the end of the season and no-one expects him to be offered a new contract - probably not even Jonas himself but with a few decent performances, he might attract interest from other clubs.

He fails on literally every criteria Charnley stated. I think it's f***ing disgusting the way these so called club greats are putting jobs for the boys ahead of the best interests of Newcastle United. They should be f***ing ashamed of themselves. But has Carver got a history of developing players? As far as I am concerned that is the key area where he fails and can they afford to give him the time to see if he can do it.

It is probably wishful thinking, but I am hoping that they are not waiting until the end of the season before they think about what they are going to do next but instead are being discrete behind the scenes whilst conveying "support" for Carver in public to try and keep the players focussed which they might not be if they know for certain that Carver won't be there next season.

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-week-accounts-reserves-8798734 4. The NUFC accounts? We’ve been waiting for the accounts for a couple of weeks, since it first emerged that it was likely the club would be announcing a major profit. The Fans Forum didn’t mention the accounts, which many are looking to for an indication of where Mike Ashley’s head is at. Newcastle sources say we may be waiting a little while longer though. An official announcement won’t be for another few days – and might even be towards the end of the month.
  7. :frantic: But what if they get relegated Leaning to wanting the struggling teams to do well in the FA Cup and stay up just to prove to our stupid board that a cup run does not guarantee relegation.
  8. http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20150307/taylors-tribute-to-hero-jonas_2281670_4540071? The Argentine international played the final 25 minutes of the single-goal defeat against Manchester United, and Taylor was delighted to have him not only back on the pitch, but in the dressing room as well. "It was a huge moment," Taylor told nufc.co.uk. "You never want to go off but it was made slightly easier by the fact Jonas was coming on. As he was preparing to come on, the stadium went crazy. "It was his return, it was really pleasing to see Jonas come on the pitch, and he went on one of his old-fashioned runs towards the end, which was great to see. "He can only get stronger from this now and look to play more games before the end of the season. "Everyone in the dressing room is so pleased for him. When he wasn't there, we realised just how much we missed him. "He's loud, shouts and screams, sings all the time and gets the dressing room perked up. On a Monday morning when it's quite quiet he will just start dancing and singing, and it makes everyone laugh. "We just didn't have that while he was away. But he is back now and hopefully he can stay back for a long time." Jonas always comes across as a hugely likeable person.
  9. Doubt the club will spend every penny it has in the bank in any summer. There will always be a war chest in case of disaster and January requires spending to recover the situation. Plus we're very likely to account for future wages from that amount too. I can't see us spending more than £25m then claiming the remaining money is required to cover the wages of anyone we bring in. But they always conveniently forget the saved wages from the remainder of the contract from those they sell. Also I'd be amazed if Jonas gets a new deal so that is another big wage earner off the bill.

    Papiss Cissé

The more time Cisse misses, the better. Safety seems almost assured, just go on a nice streak of even more s*** than usual to force their f***ing hands re: an actual manager. My worry about that is that it will give them an excuse to say he was working in difficult circumstances with an understrength squad due to injuries and suspensions so that he cannot be judged fairly.
  11. Thought both teams were a mess. Couldn't believe how bad Man Utd were. I had heard they had been poor but never imagined they would be as bad as that.

    John Carver

If they appoint Carver, they are just going to create problems for themselves in the future. Is he seriously going to achieve a top 10 placing? I can only imagine us fighting relegation on a regular basis. If that is the case, then how will they continue to attract "talented" foreign players who they hope they can sell on for a profit. The club will have to change its recruitment policy because they currently do not sign the right players for a relegation battle. But I guess the short-term gain for the balance sheet is always more important than looking ahead.
  13. So many "experts" saying how hard it is for teams to get points at our place and so are predicting a difficult game for Man Utd where they are unlikely to pick up 3 points!!!! Have they actually watched any of our games recently or even looked at our defence?
  14. Probably a City fan tbf. If so, I don't think he would be allowed to referee a Man Utd game. Clattenburg and Michael Oliver don't do Sunderland games do they?
  15. Well exactly As for the other things you say, how has he allowed the club to spend the money it generates except for on two occasions? We'll be posting our fourth profit in a row, with the total profit over that period likely to exceed 100 million. You know as well as I do that the TV deals, although terrific in absolute terms, only serve to make us weaker than other clubs in relative terms, as other club owners are far more inclined to actually reinvest that money. I don't think your valuation of the value of the free advertising comes even close to reality either. Comparing our loss of commercial revenue during his time here to how others have developed theirs, it's probably closer to 30 or 40 times that. I don't understand this stuff like others but the TV money just puts us on an equal footing with most other clubs in the Premier League. The difference in revenue between clubs comes down to the commercial side and every other club in the Premier League has grown their commercial revenue (in some cases quite significantly) where we have not. Whilst we cannot and will never compete with the top 6 with their mega deals, we are no longer ahead of some clubs and others like West Ham are now overtaking us or will be doing soon once they are in their new stadium. Surely if that TV money disappears, with the lesser commercial revenue and reduced gate receipts, we would become one of the poorer clubs in the Premier League.

Do the minutes normally come out the next day? Thought it took a few days. But I expect the club will do a statement on the accounts to spin the news as the headline figures would leak following the forum anyway. I don't think the Chronicle have a clue... or the Telegraph, who have guessed at somewhere between £30m to £50m. I think the minutes are meant to come out the next day but they have to be approved or seen by all those attending first so that can cause a delay.
  17. In which case, they are only delaying the disaster until next season. Can't see him lasting long if he does get the job.

    Alan Shearer

But Ashley has to want to sell first. There may well have been interested parties but if Ashley refuses to sell, then there is not a lot they can do.

    John Carver

The one thing we are led to believe that concerns Ashley with the football side is the lack of success from the Academy. Hopefully that means that they will look for someone with fresh ideas because of that and someone like Garde has proved that he can work to that blueprint and has had great success with it. Carver has been there and done that in the past without any noticeable success.
  21. When all's said and done...this is what stands out for me. Without meaning to alienate or belittle a huge number of people from a region I respect greatly...are our fans f***ing retarded or what? f*** sake man. I can't believe there were that many in the ground although it was pretty full. I reckon they are counting seats sold rather than the actual attendance.

I guess they have to plan for pre-season - they can't wait until June until the new man is in place. I just wish he would shut up and stop trying to talk himself into the job. Aside from the awful results, he doesn't seem to realise that every time he speaks, he is alienating more and more people - even those who have been more supportive of him.
  23. They've always got a few more cards. Raylor could make another return from injury soon. They did that one last Saturday.
