Uncanny similarity to us.

Although often when a manager leaves a club mid season, it is because they have been sacked which means the club have probably been thinking about alternatives for a while. If that's the case it would say a lot about the safety of Pardew in his job. We should have identified targets when Pardew looked a game away from the sack. They literally never ever would have sacked him. Sickening really. That was my conclusion as well.

Pardew brought Woodman with him and then appointed Carver. Stone was promoted from the reserves.

There may have a dilemma if there are potentially better coaches who have expressed an interest but who won't be available until the end of the season. It seems to be accepted that Garde would like the job but we don't know whether he would want to start immediately or wait until the Summer. Do they wait for someone who may end up getting a better offer thinking they have Garde as Plan B? If they do that, will Garde then decide to pursue other options rather than wait. The ideal scenario would be for the new guy to come in now and get to know the squad so he is ready for the next season. And although the club say the new guy will only be responsible for coaching the team, there must be loads of other stuff the Head Coach would have to be involved in such as planning for pre-season. Also even though they say the coach will not have any involvement in transfers, I cannot believe that the board will not seek some input from the coach because it is not as if they are at the training ground every day monitoring player's development and being able to judge (other than if a ridiculous offer was received) when it is the right time to move them on. And should they even be seriously considering appointing Carver in that role, then I hope they look back at how often caretaker managers (regardless of how good a coach they are e.g. Brian Kidd) end up failing after an initial good run. We only need to look back at Glenn Roeder to see that.

What the candidates don't realise is that they are being tested to see if anything is leaked to the press - if it is then they are off the list. Garde has failed at the first hurdle.
-
"IF" - of course they will back him if he has the job - doesn't mean he is their preferred option.

There's a similar story in the Daily Star. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/419545/Newcastle-Alan-Pardew I don't think anyone really knows what is happening and if they are getting their information from the club, then we all know they are the experts in misinformation.

I am sure Llambias was on quite a low salary but because the contracts are incentive-driven, you never know what the final salary is. He probably got a bonus every time he annoyed the fans.
-
I have no doubt he will be gone in the Summer but I think it would be daft to sell him now - unless of course they have a guaranteed goalscorer lined up which I somehow doubt. And even then, it might take a while for a new player to settle in. If we had plenty of goals from elsewhere in the team, it would not be so much of an issue but considering we concede so many goals and score so few, we desperately need to hold onto the players who can score goals.

The club are probably not happy that their meeting Garde has got out and I can imagine that they will put out different stories to try and deflect attention.

When you sell the club as a stepping stone to a bigger stage, this is what happens. The trouble is the club are finding they are not having the control they might have imagined in that they can not move them on when it suits them. The players are increasingly initiating their exit from the club and of course once everyone knows they are keen to move on, it reduces the transfer fee. They will probably always end up underselling a foreign player because of this whereas with a (local) player like Carroll who was happy to stay, they can maximise the fee. The club cannot afford to make the new manager's job any more difficult by selling players this month and not replacing them. If they do that and then we are drawn into a relegation fight, the new guy will get so much unfair criticism from everyone.
-
They just can't afford to let him go in this window as their failure to replace strikers previously is coming back to bite them.
-
I so hope our next manager gets us playing good football and we get some really good results to show him up for the charlatan that he is.

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/419463/Crystal-Palace-Alan-Pardew-England Pardew revealed that apart from trying to sign striker Bafetimbi Gomis from Swansea, he is also interested in a former Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi, currently a free agent after leaving Turkish club Gaziantep. He said: “I like Shola he is a good professional. And Jermaine Defoe. There is no striker I am not interested in at the moment.”

Not often I agree with you but very much this. He's also seems very stubborn which might be nice viewing as an outsider. He's constantly sniping away about not having any involvement with transfers but surely he is responsible for Bridcutt and Buckley.
-
Of course they do. And when it all goes pear-shaped, they will then say that we forced Pardew out because we wanted one of our own so we got what we deserved even though few want Carver to be manager.

Never known a manager wanting to be loved so much.
-
Schmeicel injured isn't he?
-
It's even worse over here. It's the Stevie G Farewell Tour for the next few months.
-
As if he has a say. If Ashley wants to sell him, he's gone even if he wants to stay.
-
He is just being polite.

Love how he says he was involved in some transfers and named Cabaye, Debuchy and Sissoko as such examples whilst conveniently forgetting to mention Obertan.
