  1. Some of the articles from the Pardew press conference make little sense as they seem to have written down word for word what he said and and so some key words have been omitted.
  2. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/419156/Newcastle-six-options-vacant-manager-role A name I've not seen mentioned before on that list - Bruno Labaddia.
  3. Regulars in Fratellis apparently. They're in once a month at most, man. Him and his wife. So not regularly once a month then. Whole family was in 2 weeks ago, special occasion, final meal there. But we were led to believe they couldn't go out at all in Newcastle.
  4. At least he has made this clear but then on Total Sport a while after the interview had been played, Howey mentioned about his family not being able to go out in Newcastle.

I have heard before that the club said that the Cabella fee was a lot less than reported in the press but then you probably also have Montpelier wanting their fans to think they got a bigger fee for him that they did.
  6. Might actually believe him when he says the chairman is a fan of the club!!
  7. This is another reason why I found it impossible to listen to him as well as the rubbish he spouted.
  8. Saying there was criticism from the stands but contrary to newspaper reports, he never had any difficulties with the fans.
  9. That's the problem with waiting until the Summer - yes there will be more options but equally those coaches may also have more options themselves so you might end up with none of them. Spurs were holding out for Van Gaal who kept them waiting until he knew what was happening with the Man Utd job.
  10. I am sure when Ashley does go, it will be when no-one is expecting it.
  11. Everyone knew that Alan Irvine was going to be sacked - it was just a case of when so you would expect West Brom to already have a short list drawn up - and may have acted quickly to pre-empt any interest we might have had in their preferred candidate. I am not so sure when our lot first knew that Pardew would be leaving but as we rarely seem to plan in advance, we probably waited until Pardew's deal was completely finalised before starting to think about what to do next.
  12. This is it for me. As for the idea that he's being hounded from every job opportunity because of how he phrases things is f***ing ludicrous tbh. Saying "my infidelity" is stupid but it's not the reason he's being hunted down at every opportunity. He's at the centre of a massive witch hunt, there's nothing else to it. Every single interview I hear about the case involving someone from a group that campaigns against rape and violence against women etc specifically refers to the fact that he's shown no remorse or made any sort of apology. It's almost always the first thing they say in response to the question about whether he should be given a second chance. Like it or not, there are clearly a lot of emotions riding on what he has said since being convicted. Michael Shields was convicted of murder in Bulgaria but all along he wanted to prove his innocence. During his time in prison I didn't hear him apologising or showing any remorse for the murder simply because he didn't do it. If Ched Evans believes he didn't rape the lass then there is no reason for him to apologise or show remorse. You're missing my point. I don't think he should apologise for something he believes he didn't do. But there are ways and means of currying favour with the public and IMO he and his family and friends have done the complete opposite. Lee Hughes is often cited as a player who was also convicted of a heinous crime yet was allowed to continue his career. Well the difference is he showed remorse. Since he is appealing the decision, he can't really apologise because that could be seen as an admission of guilt. However, the campaign by his family and friends to prove his innocence has been quite aggressive and it surely would have been better to have concentrated on proving his innocence ahead of trying to resurrect his footballing career.

    Sunderland

Got halfway through then gave up. It's well written tbf, but the premise is ridiculous. Why have Newcastle and Sunderland's cup games been treated differently. I don't really know where to start with a lot of the more in-depth stuff, but it reeks of the old mackem double standard of wanting to be seen as the brave underdog, draw counts as a win against us etc while at the same time demanding equality in press coverage and perspective. But on the face of it man, the reason NUFC are getting lots of s*** in the media about the weekend and SAFC are not is maybe, just maybe, down to them not playing completely dogshit, actually WINNING the game, and getting through to the next round?!? And never having publicly admitted they do not want to compete in cup competitions.
  14. Our good players will always attract attention in January because they will never be cup-tied for Europe.
  15. Unless we buy a forward whoc an hold the ball up, we can ping it long all day long. I hear Shola is back in the Uk. We are safe from Shola now Pardew has gone.
  16. Considering we have this reputation for buying cheap and selling high, there's only been 3 players I can think of that proves that - Carroll (developed under Hughton), Cabaye and Debuchy and I think Cabaye especially was very self-motivated and ambitious so I would put his development down to himself. And when you read up on Perez, he also has a determination to improve so I think he would have done well despite Pardew but probably not as well as he could. So which players did Pardew improve - Perch, Williamson, anyone else?? Players like Ben Arfa, MYM, Marveaux and potentially Cabella have not progressed and realised the profit that was probably anticipated when they came to the club. Pardew would have sold Abeid if he could. He seemed to write players off very quickly to go back to his favourites. How many kids have actually come through and kicked on - Dummett maybe but then he spent a long time out on loan. Pardew would make a fuss of them before they disappeared. It seems so obvious that a change in coaching and new ideas are needed - even Ferguson changed his coaching staff quite regularly so he was always freshening things up. That was one of the reasons why I thought the 8 year contracts for all of the coaches was ridiculous.
  17. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/john-carver-dark-newcastle-united-8387982 "Although United sang the praises of Alan Pardew in the statement that confirmed his departure on Saturday there has been a measure of frustration at Newcastle that the manager was occasionally reticent to work with players recruited for him and the club will lose out on the sale of Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa this summer. Similarly Pardew had serious reservations about Remy Cabella, one of Carr’s big summer recommendations. So this decision is likely to see candidates quizzed on how they would operate closer with the recruitment process that Newcastle remain committed to. While Pardew attempted to be forceful in his picks – indeed he personally briefed reporters that he wanted Jonjo Shelvey to be signed last summer and also targeted Tottenham’s flying winger Andros Townsend – Carver is willing to cede all of this to others at the club when it comes to recruitment". I hope this really will be addressed because I think Pardew deliberately sidelined players to make a point.
  18. Financial fair play has pretty much killed off any interest me may have had from a super rich oligarch/sheik type investor anyway. An already tiny pool of potential suitors pretty much ran dry after they invoked that cluster f*** of ruling. All to protect the bigger clubs. c***s. A club that makes healthy profits every year(and considerably more available in commercial income under real owners) wouldnt have too much trouble under FFP if they were to take a patient outlook on growing. Obviously obscene outlay in one window is out but dont see why anyone looking to buy couldnt do well with a club of our size and potential. Mike Ashley has zero ambition and has us making money for fun. Agree. We already could afford to spend a lot more than we do and when we look to be achieving something, the club does something to reverse that process. With a pro-active management in charge of the club willing to spend the money the club generates, there wouldn't be a problem with FFP and it should ensure that we are serious challengers for a top 7 place and maybe even compete in the cups!
  19. http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015/01/06/alan-pardew-slammed-for-his-arrogance-branded-as-rude/? Seems to have managed to upset Dover.
  20. Don't believe he will be sold - at least not this window and it would be stupid to sell him in the Summer as well. He needs to continue to play every week rather than sit on the bench for his development and the longer he stays, the more valuable he will become. With Cisse away and supposedly struggling with his knee (and the papers also saying he will be sold), who is going to get our goals - Riviere and Armstrong? We've found it incredibly difficult to find strikers so selling either one of the only two players who have scored goals for us this season would be disastrous and would likely ensure a relegation battle for the rest of the season especially if we continue to leak goals as we have been doing and stop scoring them.
  21. Milan would probably want Santon as part of a deal.
  22. In Carr we trust, and Charnley we hope. I am optimistic about this. Have also been optimistic so many times before when we have been left a laughing stock though. We simply can't wait until season end if you ask me, not with Carver at least. I'd be happy to wait for De Boer in the summer if we got someone half decent to cover in the mean time.. who the hell would for the money we would be willing to give them. Probably Ketsbaia tbh, but we would more likely bring back JFK or hire George Burley. Think Mainz would absolutely deal with us for Tuchel as we are from outside of Germany, just don't think he is that keen from reports that have already come out. I would imagine that Galtier and Garde would be getting a decent payrise as there is little money in French football outside of PSG. I am not sure if that is the case for the German candidates but many coaches on the continent earn a lot less than managers in England and that includes NUFC. If they can get away with not paying compensation, I can imagine the club just using the money they got for Pardew to pay the new man's wages.
  23. Will probably get the same response from the club as that MP did telling them not to bother Ashley.
  24. Being excellent in Ashley's eyes would probably consist of making the most of young, predominantly foreign, players with potential for much higher resale value. A model which I think is a sensible way to run a club in our position. Pardew constantly resisted that model, clearly briefing his mates in the media about players being bought behind his back, then blaming poor form on the loss of them when it suited him and freezing out talented players brought in as part of that model (while giving chance after chance to underperforming players who don't fall into that model). I doubt Ashley was really happy with Pardew, because as much as a yes man as he might have seemed in some respects, he was clearly unwilling to fully play ball with how Ashley wants the club to be run. With the right manger, who buys into that way of running the club, it could be very successful. At least in terms of producing attractive football. The local journos have occasionally mentioned things such as Perch was sold because Pardew would not play Anita which makes you think that the board were not happy with Pardew's team selections at times.
  25. Would be Pardew v Hughton
