  1. well I believe the exact term was earliest sale, never said he would be selling it then To sell you need a buyer so unless he has one lined up, it could be years before we are sold even if he wants to sell (see Lerner at Villa and also Everton). He would also have to be prepared to sell the club at a reasonable price instead of the overflated prices he has quoted previously. Apparently the Qatari people are only interested in a London club and their preference is for Arsenal but they are not interested in selling. Spurs and West Ham have been suggested but West Ham don't fit their profile and there are issues with Spurs because of the Jewish connection although it is the most feasible especially because of the land they own which would allow them to invest in the area like City have. I have to admit to getting frustrated with how London-centric football is becoming as investors and footballers only seem to be interested in London. Most of the European leagues only have a couple of clubs in the capital but we could probably form a league on its own with all the London clubs.
  2. He'll say we played well. We never play poorly, even when we get f***ing battered we 'played well', it's almost as if the manager is telling people what/how to think about s*** results. The sad part is that people actually fall for it and defend him. Its the same school of management that McLaren used to spout, his Boro side would get lashed 3 or 4 nil and he would come out with "i thought we were magnificent" Really? People have such short memories. If you repeat something often enough, it becomes fact. It now seems to accepted that we have only had one bad game this season which was against Southampton. Pardew kept saying so as did the players and now you read articles saying the same thing. Very different from what the media were saying in their match reports at the time.
  3. He talks absolute nonsense. The amusing thing is that there are so many erms in his interviews that (along with the content also) contribute to them being unlistenable which makes me think he is trying to be very careful in what he says.

He would be daft to commit himself to a 6 year deal on £6k a week unless there are guaranteed pay increases along the way. We don't like to re-negotiate contracts as we prefer to sell half way through and if he goes on to prove his early season form was not a flash in a pan, he will be earning far more than that. Look at Sterling - a year or two older - supposedly turning down £70k a week. Chelsea often pay their kids £20k a week and most never get near the first team. I am not saying he should be paid that but if he is as good as we hope, then it would be in his interest to run his contract down and move to another club in 18 months. He is not from the area so there is no emotional attachment to the club.
  5. One positive from last night was Armstrong. There was some lovely play between him and Perez at the end and he looks like an intelligent player and his movement is good.
  6. Whenever we have a big away support, you can guarantee that the team will not turn up.

  8. Not sure if I am misunderstanding you but I have a theatre programme mounted and in a frame but I took it to a professional framer to get it done. I did do a couple myself 20+ years ago and I do (or did have) a booklet on how to do it that I bought at the time.

  10. I see Freddie Woodman has also been included in the squad because Eliot is a doubt according to Pardew: The Newcastle boss explained: ‘Rob is in the process at the moment, like a modern man, of having a baby, so that's an added complication. And another quote from the same article: ‘We're carrying a lot of injuries and we're taking our injuries to Burnley. It is critical in terms of the spine of the team. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2856367/Alan-Pardew-call-rookie-keepers-Jak-Alnwick-Freddie-Woodman-Newcastle-s-injury-woes-continue.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490
  11. Pardew keeps saying that we only played badly in one game this season and that was against Southamption. The players are saying it now as well. A case of collective amnesia I would say. They are repeating it so often in interviews that it will now be accepted as fact and unquestioned in the media.
  12. 3 games - Liverpool (11/12), Man City (26/12) & Spurs (28/12). I think there may have been a postponed game between Liverpool & City - maybe Birmingham (A).
  13. Can't rely on Blobby for clean sheets. Here come the defeats. How many clean sheets has he kept? I always expect the opposition to score goals against us when he is playing and often they are ones that should be straightforward saves.
  14. It's been 4 years man, how can you possibly think he'll ever run out of or fail to find new excuses? His new excuse is to say that he knows that the fans won't accept excuses. Seems to say that a lot in post-match interviews these days. All the publicity about his excuses courtesy of Sackpardew.com have obviously touched a nerve.
  15. What if we qualified for the Europa and Rangers qualified for the CL and were dropped into the Europa? I doubt we could both qualify for even different competitions without a potential conflict of interest. Only one club could take part in a UEFA tournament and the higher profile tournament would take precedence. So if Rangers qualified for the Champions League and we qualified for the Europa League, then Rangers would be allowed to play in the Champions League and we would not be allowed in the Europa League. Therefore if Rangers later dropped into the Europa, it would not be a problem because we would not have been allowed entry in the first place. If we both qualify for the Europa League, then the club with the higher co-efficient would be the club allowed in. At present that would be us because our co-efficient is higher but one would assume once Rangers get back into the Champions League, their co-efficient would soon overtake ours.
  16. When he starts to get cocky, you know he is heading for a fall very soon. We always do better when his ego is being held in check.
  17. Breathtaking stupidity. If that is the reason then why do Spurs keep sacking their managers?

So the club wants a paper to do an interview with a player to promote Wonga but ordinarily they would refuse any player interviews with the written press because they do not pay for access....

Simon Bird @SimonBird_ · 4 hrs 4 hours ago Turned down interview with a Newcastle player today because it was to promote Wonga. Using millionaires to push a payday lender is offensive
  20. The series of events as I understand it are: Jonas had the testicle removed (Oct/Nov 13) He came back and shortly afterwards Pardew tells him to find a new club (Dec 13) Went to Norwich (Jan 14) Discovers the cancer has spread (Summer 14) Has chemo Given the all all-clear (Nov 14)
  21. Tiote has missed too many games for us to miss him these days.
  22. That article points out that he had only played 2 games and had lost his place but I seem to recall that he went off injured in the first game against Man City. He also came on in the second half away to Cardiff and did well when it was the usual all backs against the wall to protect our lead. I am not sure if there were any games inbetween but after the Cardiff game, we were told he was in Argentina on personal business. So I wouldn't say he had lost his place in the way that articles implies - he was out injured, made a comeback and then went and had the op done. Came back and was told to leave. The following is from when he joined Norwich. At the time, we were led to believe by the media that it was related to his contact but with what we know now, it looks incredibly insensitive to a good servant of the club. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/norwichs-jonas-gutierrez-newcastle-exit-3029641
  23. If he has to do an interview why do it with a London paper? Obviously currying favour with the London media but he could speak to Caulkin and there are one or two local journalists who work for the nationals who have been sympathetic to him. They seem more interested in keeping the London media onside rather than more influential local media.

  25. Colo always get injured at this time of year. Normally he comes off during a match as a precaution (we are told) and no-one is unduly concerned because no-one can remember an incident that caused the problem as he always seems to walk off the pitch OK. Next thing we hear, he is out for weeks which usually turns into months. Regular as clockwork.
