why would somebody like frank de boer even take this job? its a terrible job. A manager, much like young players will only use this job as a stepping stone. We have said as a club, we do not see winning a trophy as an objective. No manager in his right mind would take this job unless they are a failing manager with A) little ambition or B) desperate and unable to get anything else. You can't keep your best players, you can't try to win a cup competition and you have to state the company propaganda to the exact word. To top it all off, you have to cover for the guys behind the scenes and endure all of the issues as your own. Its a thankless task that no reasonable manager would take. If pardew goes, people are insane to think that somebody of a high calibre would come in. It would be the next guy who can keep a team in the prem and would be thankful to be given this job. Makaay, Pulis, Bruce are the main candidates for this type of role. I wouldn't even be surprised to see us go for somebody like Jol who would be seen to be a forward thinking appointment, but who in truth isn't going to get another decent job in the prem and would accept what he is told. He's been doing interviews this week. Always a sign of an out of work manager reminding people that they are available.

At this point, being honourable losers would at least show progress.
-
So as well as outworking every team physically, we have been honourable losers in those games we haven't drawn.

I am perplexed by the message coming out of the club that there is nothing to worry about - a few teething problems to sort out and then everything will be OK. Do they really believe that? There seems to be so much complacency in the club's attitude. Also, the number of pundits that seem to think that maybe the season will be struggle but we will survive. They are obviously not really paying attention to what is going on here.
-
They promote it as some sort of altruistic measure where in reality it is only to fill the stadium because so many have cancelled their season tickets. It perpetuates the myth that everyone is happy with our lot because the attendances are still high.
-
It's not just about us getting the 3 points now, we are getting to the stage where we are starting to rely on other teams not picking up points as well. I expect Burnley and QPR will continue to struggle but we need other teams to struggle as well so we can still be in touch with them come January.

If The Sun are right then maybe that Palace job is still there for Pardew after all!! Warnock on his uppers Neil Warnock could become Crystal Palace's new director of football EXCLUSIVE By CHARLIE WYETT Published: 14th October 2014 CRYSTAL PALACE are ready to move Neil Warnock upstairs — if they can find the right man to replace him. Warnock, 65, has been back in charge for just five Premier League games.

They've now recruited Sir John Hall for their campaign. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/405043/EXCLUSIVE-Sir-John-Hall-tells-Newcastle-fans-to-back-the-team-Alan-Pardew-anger

How times have changed. Keegan got reprimanded by Ashley for suggesting similar after we played Chelsea. Now it is the party line trotted out to remind supporters that we have unrealistic expectations.

Whilst it would be typical of us to fluke a win, if that clown is in goal, I would think it is less likely as although he might make one or two good saves, he seems to concede a lot which look like they should be easy. Maybe I am wrong but that is just the impression I get. Leicester have some pace in their attack so if they just run at our defence, they find it quite easy to get past then. Therefore we need to keep the ball in their half but we tend to give it away too often to do that. I think our weaknesses are so obvious and we are so predictable that any manager with anything about them should be able to put a game plan together to beat us quite easily.

It seems as if we are his only option if West Ham want rid as no-one else ever seems to be linked with him. Although I suppose 'Arry could interested.

Always amused by the way that Pardew goes on about him. He was his manager for about 6 weeks of which Carroll only played probably the first 3 games before he got injured.
-
It might also show that Pardew is a poor judge of a player seeing as he was behind this signing. And also that Elliott is not good enough to be first choice should Krul leave.
-
Think our regular 2 goals conceded per game might just be about to increase.

Argentina v Brazile on ITV4.

Coloccini was poor in his first season for us and he was playing most games in his correct position. Had we bought him under Pardew, he would probably have never been given the opportunities to settle into the English game either. Someone on here said that the club thought MYM was a bit weird which if true is probably the real reason they have got rid.
-
I think he does a decent job for a while and then it all goes a bit stale. Maybe there are reasons for that - perhaps he has not been able to freshen up the squad when needed. However, I just think he an 18 month manager and his record this year is only marginally better than Pardew's and he has been allowed to bring a lot of decent players of his choosing.

I have some concerns over the redevelopment of the training ground under Ashley. As he has a history of doing things on the cheap, will it really be state of the art? Will he try to incorporate SD somehow in the building structure. Will the club actually own it or could he transfer it to one of his other holdings and loan it back to the club. Probably being a bit paranoid but I can't help but wonder what is in it for him as there is little evidence of him spending money on the infrastructure of the club unless it is to reduce running costs or can promote SD.

Gaël Bigirimana rejoins Coventry on a permanent basis
Wallace replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
I am sure they can put recall clauses into the contracts so I don't understand why they don't get them loaned out so they are at least getting game time. If there is an injury crisis and they need to be recalled then it would be better for us if they have been playing competitive football. Another problem always seems to be that we refuse to compromise on the wages. It will benefit us more to have the players playing and if they are not good enough for us, we are more likely to be able to sell them to a lower league club rather than end up releasing them at their end of the contract. If we were more flexible on the wages, we might get more money in the longterm. -
Feel like that as well. Let them go off and form their entertainment league and tour the world and let everyone else get on playing competitive football again.
-
Wasn't Pardew championing Steve Taylor for England when he first arrived here? I can't understand his reluctance to use Big Steve, you can't get any more English than that, and he's a geordie to boot. Is he injured again seeing as he was not on the bench at the weekend?
-
I have never had so much of a problem with Ashley speaking because a lot of owners don't. I do think it is a major problem that NO-ONE at the football club speaks. That is not normal. What Managing Director of any major business refuses to speak the media?
-
Exactly, what good is it that our yearly losses (which was a problem tbf) have been turned around to yearly profits when it does not benefit anyone but the owner? Also, this turnaround is almost entirely a result of TV revenue growing exponentially, something that the old owner(s) or indeed anyone else could also have achieved. Although it is unlikely to happen, if the TV companies did pull out then we will be absolutely screwed as we are totally dependent upon that revenue now.

Think he is another one of these 18 month managers like Pardew. Has an initial impact and then it slowly ebbs away and he doesn't know how to turn things around. I think his 2014 record is not much better than Pardew's either.
