Can see him getting a new contract to maximise his fee.

Regardless of how diligent Jonas has been with training on his own - he will be no where near match fit for some time so why would any club take him on loan if they are not going to get the best out of him for a number of weeks. On that basis, it would make more sense to have him training with the club and at least giving him games with the U21s. Unless of course the player requested to stay in Argentina and he did have personal issues last season that meant he spent some weeks there.

That's a load of turnip. Sorry like It's not. If Colo does think Pardew is the worst coach he's ever played for then hopefully he mentioned something to Ashley when he had that meeting with him.

That's why they get the long contracts. Give a player a couple of years to settle into the Premier League and they can still sell them for the maximum price. On a shorter deal, they would either have to give them a new contract after 2 years or sell them at a lesser price because the contract has started to run down. It also means there is no reason to give a player an improved contract if they are doing very well. It is obvious there is no intention to renew player's contracts unless it is a player on low wages who have overachieved and so might be sold for more than originally anticipated.

At least HBA would try to do something even if it didn't come off and he ended up losing the ball. Rather that than taking the safe option of passing the ball a couple of yards in the middle of the pitch.

f***ing hell. This is something that I was always aware of and it rankles when Liverpool fans go on about how they deserve this and that because of their history. They were fortunate to appoint a brilliant manager who set in the wheels in motion for a hugely successful decade or so at a time when that established them as one of the elite clubs during a period when the commercial/globalisation of football started to take off. Until 1974 onwards, there were a number of other clubs who had been more successful. Leeds is another club whose successful history is very recent - before Revie, they had won very little if anything.

Pardew has never succeeded in his career to date to show he can turn things around. If he relegates us, we are just likely to sink further - there is no chance he would get us promoted.
-
So what do we think is happening to the excess TV money? Is it going to pay off the loan or are we just going to have £30m+ sitting in the accounts? The fees and wages saved from the departing players have surely covered in the incoming ones so I can't see that there will be a huge increase in the wage bill and the wage bill as a percentage of the clubs's income will surely be much reduced.

I really think he will be struggling to hold on to his job within the next few weeks. We were told we had a kind fixture list before the difficult games in Nov/Dec but I am struggling to see where we are going to get points from in these easy games. Southampton away we normally lose, we haven't managed to beat Hull in the league at home yet, Stoke and Swansea away we usually lose and they have both started the season well and then Leicester home are the archetypal promotion team that causes us problems and then we are in to the top 6. You get to January with a relegation-threatened team and who will want to sign for us? Cheap foreigners that we have monitored for several years who will need a few months to adjust to the league. Pardew needs results and he needs them quickly otherwise I believe Ashley will have no choice other than to get rid because the cheapest option for him will be to get the current players performing.

Last season the next game after Ben Arfa played that fantastic game against Villa, we played Hull at home and Ben Arfa had a poor game and was singled out for criticism. I remember Steve Harper saying that he had given Bruce some advice on how to play against HBA and he was chuffed because it had worked. Regardless of whether Ben Arfa signs for them or not, I can only see a Hull victory here (following the normal defeat to Southampton) and I am sure the hostility to Pardew will start to be seriously cranked up. It seems that our games vs Hull often cause the simmering discontent to boil over. And how come Hull are managing to sign all these players? Surely they must be on the verge of doing a Portsmouth/Leeds etc

Guess Dummett will be 4th choice CB and that worked so well last season!! And we will definitely need a 4th choice CB at some point when Colo picks up his annual injury for a couple of months and similarly Taylor once he's played a couple of games.

Unless we get an experienced striker in with a good goalscoring record and who will get to play regularly, I don't see the point of signing/loaning anyone as we do actually have enough strikers. The trouble is they are either too young (Armstrong, Perez) or need to adapt to the Premier League (Riviere, Chucky) and then there is Gouffran who was signed as a striker but has never played for us in that position. We needed players in last January and now we have a situation where we have several players in key positions all having to get used to this league at the same time and the club should have realised that this would be a problem having signed the 5 French players in one window who all needed time to adjust. It would have been better to bring in a couple then to get them integrated before the other signings in the Summer. Riviere might prove to be an excellent player for us but he has been thrown in at the deep end as the lone striker with no support.

Last fans forum didnt include all figures. The 6% was clearly about the 10 year deal people who had to renew by February. Seeing as the meeting was before ST renewals came out and all The club have become adept at saying things that in isolation are true but if you take into account all the facts, the real situation is quite different.

Ashley doesn't seem to think of the long-term benefits of appointing a good manager and paying the going rate but just thinks of saving the money now. If he hired a good manager with a history of developing players, he would reap the financial benefits of that. We bring in good players so if they were developed, we would get bigger fees for them and surely more youngsters would develop - at least to the extent where we could get a reasonable fee for them rather than just releasing them when their contracts are up. Also if we were playing good football then more people would go to the games as it would become an enjoyable experience again.

He's not right, our club should be able to go on a cup run without having to worry about relegation. If a cup run is going to relegate us then that's down to him. If we were deep in a relegation battle in January then maybe prioritising the league makes sense. If you know you are safe from relegation but unlikely to make Europe then at least a cup run gives the team something to focus on for the rest of the season. It is unforgiveable to give up on a season in January like we did last year.

Unless Jonas has requested it, I don't understand how he is not even training at the club. Even Ben Arfa has been allowed back at the club. Although, didn't he have some personal issues that meant he spent some time back in Argentina last season? If those still exist, then it probably is his decision not to come back. If he is not going to play and he can't find a club. maybe it suits him to see out his final year back home. I just wish this club would show some respect to the players. Even when they leave, there is normally a curt one liner to say they have signed for x club where other clubs write lovely things, thank the player and wish them the best in the future.
-
TBF to Jonas, the last time I saw him play (and I think it was his last game for us), he came on as a a sub for the last 20 minutes away to Cardiff when we were under a lot of pressure and he played well helping out the defence and we managed to hold out for a win. An expensive squad player maybe but he would certainly have been of use in that role in other games last season.
-
A lot of people have tried to help him and a lot will do so privately so I guess it is not fair to judge people as we don't really know what they have or haven't done.
-
They should give the job to the current caretaker manager whilst waiting for Pardew to be sacked. I'm not convinced this supposedly easy start to the season is going to provide as many points as some people seem to think.
-
If he's instructed his agent that he's staying put then there will be very little in the way of false press speculation... find that line of thinking difficult to believe unless he likes the idea of playing with the reserves for a year. At the very least you'd expect him to be looking for a loan move to actually play games. I'm sure he'd rather be playing, but it's not in his hands. He can easily see out the remaining year on his contract then have a much bigger pool of clubs to choose from in January. It's Pardew who's cutting his nose off to spite his face here. And a much bigger salary/signing on fee if he is on a Bosman. Bit of a no-brainer really for HBA. It would increase his options as clubs will be able to pay him a bigger salary if they don't have to pay a fee for him although the downside for him would be no football for a year.
-
Doesn't the Russian window close after ours or is that just the January one? If that's the case then I wouldn't be surprised to see him leaving after 1st September.
-
Is Vorm injured? I would have expected him to be on the bench at least.

So just a 70 million profit this year then :-) It will be interesting to see how much profit we make in the accounts as so far we have only spent the money brought in with sales and although there may be an increase in wages, surely most of that will have been covered by the wages of Cabaye, Debuchy, Shola and Gosling. Of all the new arrivals, I would have thought that only De Jong and Cabella will be on relatively big wages. If we don't bring in anyone else, surely we will be making a massive profit and if that is not the case, then something is not right as the club is run on a shoestring as it is.

One of the thing I loathe about Pardew is that he feeds into the London-centric media cliche that "expectations" are too high among Newcastle fans. Geordies are the only people who are told that we are not allowed dreams and ambitions for our club. We really should know our place in the world. Although it is obviously not true that we don't trust "Cockneys", I do think the fact that we have been run by Southerners and non-football people since Ashley took over is a huge negative. The fact that they are based elsewhere (and even Pardew spends half the week in London) means that their view of Newcastle as a football club and a city is the stereotypical one perceived by southerners. Their opinions seems to be that we all have unrealistic expectations, we're not a big club, the people are thick and poor etc. How many of Ashley's advisors (e.g. that PR guy) have spent any time trying to understand the city and its people? I think they have an attitude that they know better than we do so we have to be "educated" to think differently. Unfortunately, the lowering of expectations and the reduced quality of the "brand" (hate that word) are well underway. Maybe there will be an improvement with Charnley having lived here for so many years

commentators in the world cup were saying sabella had some criticism for picking him as he was seen as a bit of a favourite and they had better options...thought he played very well in the games i saw tbh but didn't seem like a CB to me despite his size Tim Vickery was saying the other day that he would never have envisaged him being a Man Utd player as he didn't think he was good enough.
