  1. To me it was the same performance as last season only the players are not disaffected yet. And judging by some of his recent comments, Pardew seems to be investing a lot in De Jong (as he did with Cabaye) to sort it all out on the pitch for him and for Cabella (as with HBA previously) to come up with a moment of magic to win a game. Arons is now the young flavour of the month as Sameobi was previously. Early days I know but I am not sensing anything has changed in Pardew's approach but looking forward to when we manage to score a goal to see if we try and score a second and a third or whether we revert to "protect what we've got"and hang on for the rest of the game approach.
  2. Supposedly was not in the matchday squad because he hasn't been showing enough in training! According to the local papers anyway.

That QPR's crowd were louder than ours. Pandering to the home support as all footballers do.
  4. Well if the club want him out, he will probably be banished to the reserves before long.
  5. Where have they got that idea from? Because a 19,000 crowd made up of parents with their kids didn't boo Pardew? I don't think anyone has changed their mind from last season which has resulted in many deciding to give up season tickets. That almost certainly means there will be less hostility in the ground but it won't take much for it to re-surface. Obviously there are some fans who support Pardew but every fan I know (whether they go to games or not) is anti Pardew and they have not changed their mind about him at all. At best supporters are tolerating him for the time being with the expectation that it is only a matter of time before he is struggling again. The club don't seem to want to make life easy for him by not allowing him to speak to the media. I am sure the lack of access will encourage more negative headlines from the national press as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
  6. Not that I care to hear what Pardew has to say but why should I have to buy The Sun to read any NUFC related interviews. I would hope the rest of the press refuse to give any free publicity to NUFC and especially Sports Direct and Wonga. Free publicity works both ways. Surely the Premier League needs to sort this out.
  7. The club put themselves in the position where they had no option but to go and bring in a ton of players. Moving forward, it would make sense to make just one or two signings a window as you should always look to improve on what you have and you need to keep freshening up the squad. They should never have allowed things to stagnate to the extent they did.

I don't think this is something we are going to be able to mock them for this season. If our season tickets have dropped as much as people think then the club will be coming up with all sorts of schemes to fill the stadium.

What time of year does that happen because we also have the Rugby Union World Cup matches next year as well?
  10. I was thinking today about the way Pardew has ostracised players and how he and the club show a total lack of respect to players, the staff, the supporters, other managers, other football clubs etc. Obviously this emanates from the top. Infact the senior people at the club have no interest in representing and presenting the club in a way that we can be proud of. Such a contract to the dignity of Sir Bobby when we could be proud that such a person was the manager of our football club.
  11. The following is from today's Journal about the renewed interest in Lacazette: Newcastle are fishing in a small pool when it comes to priority striker targets – with Lacazette joining Loic Remy as one of the forwards they are keen to talk to. United have a ‘Plan B’ but they will not lavish millions on players they have not watched extensively – and they have already turned down the chance to sign Enner Valencia, who has subsequently joined West Ham United. That sounds like a worrying short list especially when it is obvious that the players we seem to be most interested in have no interest in joining us. I wouldn't be surprised if Lacazette's agent was encouraging our interest in order to get a much better contract from Lyon.
  12. I would hope he goes abroad as I would hate to see him play for another English club.
  13. I was listening to something on the radio in the last couple of days where they were saying that the next TV deal is not far off and they fully expect it to be 3 times the current deal.

    Loïc Remy

It's one thing for a club to lose so many of its best players but I can't remember one club buying so many from one other club in a single transfer window before.
  15. Chelsea I understand, being the successful club that they are. Dunno where QPR gets off, particularly as they play in the shithole (by all accounts) that is Loftus Road. West Ham are very expensive as well - £42 last season.
  16. They looked promising but look at the opposition. It is hard to judge until they get the opportunity to play against Premier League defences.
  17. Apparently one of Pardew's issues with MYM is that he is poor in the air but I wouldn't say our other central defenders are that great in the air either.
  18. And they go on about the fans have unrealistic expectations.
  19. The squad was short in numbers last year and that became a problem when injuries kicked in. Numbers-wise we have only replaced what's gone out so we are still short especially when Pardew has chosen to exclude specific players from the squad. The kids will only get a few minutes here or there - I can't see any of them getting enough game time to improve significantly enough to become key members of the squad.

Could be before then as Allardyce only has a year left on his contract and I'd be surprised if it was extended.
  21. Yep - I would say that Nolan was a fair bit more overweight than HBA. I'd also say that Nolan's weight issues were often discussed and criticised on here. That's not my point - my point is whether Nolan was fined by the club for it and it was used as a reason not to pick him. The answer to that is that it wasn't. That was my point as well. It never seemed to be an issue with the club although the fans regularly discussed it (as do West Ham fans).
  22. I dont get the Gouffran hate on here. I dont mind him there. Its the fact Sissoko is on the other wing that s***s me off. Gouffran would be more effective if he didn't start every sodding match. I remember at the Cardiff cup debacle in January he looked absolutely shagged after about fifteen minutes, and he played from the start almost every match from then to the end of the season. He provides f*** all threat from the wing though, that said. Sissoko is a whole other story, but he provides more than Gouffran does from the wing. If there were 2 players that needed to be rested in January, it was Gouffran and Sissoko yet he played them every game until they managed to pick up injuries.
  23. Funny how Nolan's weight issues were never a problem.
  24. He walked out his pre-Man City press conference last summer, when everyone thought Cabaye was going to Arsenal after about five minutes because that's all he was being asked about. No doubt if similar happened with regards to HBA, he'd do the same. He's like MA, why answer when you can just run away? The club is starting to exclude all journalists other than those from the their friendly "media partners" such as The Sun and Sky. No journalist will be given the opportunity to ask awkward questions.
  25. As with Bellamy, the manager's actions are reducing the player's value. No doubt we will be wanting to recoup as much of the £5m we can get whilst interested clubs will know we are desperate to get rid and will submit "insulting" bids. As he is in the last year of his contract, it is in the player's interest to sit it out unless he receives an attractive offer and for potential buyers to "monitor" the situation and wait until the end of the window or January. Unless Pardew plays him, his value will only continue to decrease and then Ashley will probably have no choice other than to just cut his losses rather than pay x amount in wages for several months for a player who might end up playing no football for over 12 months.
