  1. Doesn't the Russian window close after ours or is that just the January one? If that's the case then I wouldn't be surprised to see him leaving after 1st September.
  2. Is Vorm injured? I would have expected him to be on the bench at least.
  3. So just a 70 million profit this year then :-) It will be interesting to see how much profit we make in the accounts as so far we have only spent the money brought in with sales and although there may be an increase in wages, surely most of that will have been covered by the wages of Cabaye, Debuchy, Shola and Gosling. Of all the new arrivals, I would have thought that only De Jong and Cabella will be on relatively big wages. If we don't bring in anyone else, surely we will be making a massive profit and if that is not the case, then something is not right as the club is run on a shoestring as it is.
  4. One of the thing I loathe about Pardew is that he feeds into the London-centric media cliche that "expectations" are too high among Newcastle fans. Geordies are the only people who are told that we are not allowed dreams and ambitions for our club. We really should know our place in the world. Although it is obviously not true that we don't trust "Cockneys", I do think the fact that we have been run by Southerners and non-football people since Ashley took over is a huge negative. The fact that they are based elsewhere (and even Pardew spends half the week in London) means that their view of Newcastle as a football club and a city is the stereotypical one perceived by southerners. Their opinions seems to be that we all have unrealistic expectations, we're not a big club, the people are thick and poor etc. How many of Ashley's advisors (e.g. that PR guy) have spent any time trying to understand the city and its people? I think they have an attitude that they know better than we do so we have to be "educated" to think differently. Unfortunately, the lowering of expectations and the reduced quality of the "brand" (hate that word) are well underway. Maybe there will be an improvement with Charnley having lived here for so many years
  5. commentators in the world cup were saying sabella had some criticism for picking him as he was seen as a bit of a favourite and they had better options...thought he played very well in the games i saw tbh but didn't seem like a CB to me despite his size Tim Vickery was saying the other day that he would never have envisaged him being a Man Utd player as he didn't think he was good enough.
  6. To me it was the same performance as last season only the players are not disaffected yet. And judging by some of his recent comments, Pardew seems to be investing a lot in De Jong (as he did with Cabaye) to sort it all out on the pitch for him and for Cabella (as with HBA previously) to come up with a moment of magic to win a game. Arons is now the young flavour of the month as Sameobi was previously. Early days I know but I am not sensing anything has changed in Pardew's approach but looking forward to when we manage to score a goal to see if we try and score a second and a third or whether we revert to "protect what we've got"and hang on for the rest of the game approach.
  7. Supposedly was not in the matchday squad because he hasn't been showing enough in training! According to the local papers anyway.

That QPR's crowd were louder than ours. Pandering to the home support as all footballers do.
  9. Well if the club want him out, he will probably be banished to the reserves before long.
  10. Where have they got that idea from? Because a 19,000 crowd made up of parents with their kids didn't boo Pardew? I don't think anyone has changed their mind from last season which has resulted in many deciding to give up season tickets. That almost certainly means there will be less hostility in the ground but it won't take much for it to re-surface. Obviously there are some fans who support Pardew but every fan I know (whether they go to games or not) is anti Pardew and they have not changed their mind about him at all. At best supporters are tolerating him for the time being with the expectation that it is only a matter of time before he is struggling again. The club don't seem to want to make life easy for him by not allowing him to speak to the media. I am sure the lack of access will encourage more negative headlines from the national press as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
  11. Not that I care to hear what Pardew has to say but why should I have to buy The Sun to read any NUFC related interviews. I would hope the rest of the press refuse to give any free publicity to NUFC and especially Sports Direct and Wonga. Free publicity works both ways. Surely the Premier League needs to sort this out.
  12. The club put themselves in the position where they had no option but to go and bring in a ton of players. Moving forward, it would make sense to make just one or two signings a window as you should always look to improve on what you have and you need to keep freshening up the squad. They should never have allowed things to stagnate to the extent they did.

I don't think this is something we are going to be able to mock them for this season. If our season tickets have dropped as much as people think then the club will be coming up with all sorts of schemes to fill the stadium.

What time of year does that happen because we also have the Rugby Union World Cup matches next year as well?
  15. I was thinking today about the way Pardew has ostracised players and how he and the club show a total lack of respect to players, the staff, the supporters, other managers, other football clubs etc. Obviously this emanates from the top. Infact the senior people at the club have no interest in representing and presenting the club in a way that we can be proud of. Such a contract to the dignity of Sir Bobby when we could be proud that such a person was the manager of our football club.
  16. The following is from today's Journal about the renewed interest in Lacazette: Newcastle are fishing in a small pool when it comes to priority striker targets – with Lacazette joining Loic Remy as one of the forwards they are keen to talk to. United have a ‘Plan B’ but they will not lavish millions on players they have not watched extensively – and they have already turned down the chance to sign Enner Valencia, who has subsequently joined West Ham United. That sounds like a worrying short list especially when it is obvious that the players we seem to be most interested in have no interest in joining us. I wouldn't be surprised if Lacazette's agent was encouraging our interest in order to get a much better contract from Lyon.
  17. I would hope he goes abroad as I would hate to see him play for another English club.
  18. I was listening to something on the radio in the last couple of days where they were saying that the next TV deal is not far off and they fully expect it to be 3 times the current deal.

    Loïc Remy

It's one thing for a club to lose so many of its best players but I can't remember one club buying so many from one other club in a single transfer window before.
  20. Chelsea I understand, being the successful club that they are. Dunno where QPR gets off, particularly as they play in the shithole (by all accounts) that is Loftus Road. West Ham are very expensive as well - £42 last season.
  21. They looked promising but look at the opposition. It is hard to judge until they get the opportunity to play against Premier League defences.
  22. Apparently one of Pardew's issues with MYM is that he is poor in the air but I wouldn't say our other central defenders are that great in the air either.
  23. And they go on about the fans have unrealistic expectations.
  24. The squad was short in numbers last year and that became a problem when injuries kicked in. Numbers-wise we have only replaced what's gone out so we are still short especially when Pardew has chosen to exclude specific players from the squad. The kids will only get a few minutes here or there - I can't see any of them getting enough game time to improve significantly enough to become key members of the squad.

Could be before then as Allardyce only has a year left on his contract and I'd be surprised if it was extended.
