Before he signed permanently for West Ham, I always thought he would jump at the chance to come back but I get the impression he is settled at West Ham and perhaps would not be so keen on a return now. I wouldn't be surprised if West Ham were open to offers considering his contract and his injury record but there is no way they will be paying him £120k a week although he is obviously paid a lot more than we would be willing to offer.

I don't think the club have treated Jonas very well either - all because they don't want to honour a contract they agreed in the first place. Whether he can still do a job for us or not, he has always been an excellent professional for the club.
-
I think we only bought him because we were convinced Colo was leaving and because he stayed, it has meant MYM has largely been surplus to requirements. I don't think Ashley will take such a risk again as it is obvious Pardew will not drop Colo so MYM will not get game time unless Pardew has no other choice.

I thought I heard this week that Ings said he would definitely be staying at Burnley.
-
No sign of him yet in West Ham's pre-season so that is probably another reason for the rumours.

It's absurd. We have a manager we should apparently be happy with, yet I'd doubt any other top 10 Premiership club would touch him with a bargepole. Supposedly Crystal Palace were interested but that would surely be based on sentimentality. The only other Premier League clubs that might be interested would be newly promoted clubs but I doubt if he would first choice for any.
-
He'll love playing with his mate at Arsenal then. Cabaye was pretty much the only attraction he had to us. Arsenal play good football, have a good manager and champions league football. Plus he will be on much bigger wages now. He wanted to play in the Premier League and we were the only club that came in for him. Proved he could play in this league so got a move to a bigger club. Can't believe the money we got for him when Arsenal only offered £10m for Cabaye last year. Maybe it was true that he only saw Cabaye as a squad player whereas Debuchy would definitely be first choice.

It just gets better. Frustrating how we are continually being dragged downmarket. No wonder Pardew thinks we are all stupid as the club's perception of its supporter base is obviously that we are thick and poor. This is another downside of being run by people with no connection and little interest in engaging with the area is that they seem to be intent on maintaining a stereotypical image of the North East which is damaging to the club.
-
That's what we were led to believe last season although now his loan to us is over maybe that fee is no longer valid where we are concerned.
-
Seems like the club are ignoring Pardew's wish for more British players (other than Colback of course).

I think they will since he seems pretty set on coming here. Seems as if other clubs are not interested or have pretty much accepted he's going to Newcastle. I do find it odd that no other clubs have expressed interest in him though. If he is all we have been made to think he is, surely some CL clubs would have tried to take him? 12 million (euros or pounds) is hardly much for an international French winger who is supposedly good enough to replace the creativity of cabaye It's the risk factor though. He's proved he can do it at Montpelier but can he do it at a bigger club and in a different country. It was the same with Cabaye and Debuchy. Lots of clubs were interested in them and Debuchy especially was linked with bigger clubs before he came to us but none decided to take the risk. In coming to Newcastle, both players have proved they can excel in the Premier League so those bigger clubs will now see them as a safe bet. If Debuchy's first few months with us had been at a bigger club, he probably would not have been given the time to adapt.

Was Pardew Jenkinson's manager when he was at Charlton?

Mentioned on the radio last night that several of the Costa Rican players were left-footed and with Krul being left-handed, that could also have been a factor in the decision. I think he used to do OK with penalties with the reserve and youth teams but certainly has a poor record since being first choice.

The new James Perch.

How often do we hear the club saying they will only allow a player to leave on their terms but now we have the press saying Arsenal have got themselves a bargain. Cabaye went for less than they wanted and they backed themselves into a corner with Enrique. Given went for less than he was worth as well. And all to clubs that could afford a lot more. Then the players they do want shot of, they can't give away. They are not as clever at selling players as they like to think they are and we seem to give in sooner than the clubs that we are trying to buy players from do.
-
I think you underestimate the Cabaye effect. Two years or so here, prove they can do it against the best, move to a Champions League club. almost certainly part of the sales pitch imho when we do actually bother to get to the point of speaking to a player Exactly. Spend their time here adjusting to the Premier League and getting the mistakes out of their system ready for a move to a bigger club where players won't be given the time to do that - unless they are Chelsea who would just loan them to another club for a few years.

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/five-newcastle-united-players-who-7371019 5. Hatem Ben Arfa Last but certainly not least. Even when he’s not playing for Newcastle he sometimes conspires to be the story but that’s what exquisite talent and a wayward attitude tend to do for any player, not least one with his extravagant gifts. There was a brilliantly simple banner fluttered at away games last season that superimposed Ben Arfa’s face on Che Guevera’s image and it was romantic to portray him as mercurial revolutionary battling against Pardew’s functional football while the chips were down. He represented potential and possibility against a paucity of performance that left most Magpies cold. But it is not entirely accurate. If Pardew hasn’t always handled him particularly superbly, the player has exasperated plenty of others with sound judgement including his captain Fabricio Coloccini. It’s rare for a player to have weight issues in this day and age but Ben Arfa has and what does that say about him? What, too, does the fact no-one has made a serious enquiry for him over the summer? Both parties need to find a way to unlock this serious talent. It is in both of their interests.

He must know what he is letting himself in for with his brother having spent the last 6 months here.
-
Says in the Mail that Sanchez doesn't want to go to Liverpool and would prefer to move to Arsenal instead.
-
If PSG are interested then that would the safest option for him if he wants guaranteed Champions League football. If Man Utd get into the top 4 next season, it will surely be either Arsenal or Liverpool who will miss out the following season.
-
If they were offered £5m for Williamson, they would definitely take it. Profit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
One of the local papers said recently, we are after 2 players to play up front - one of which would be Cabella - which means that we are only looking for one striker. I hope they are wrong.
-
Of course not. They have a wage structure as well and pay much lower wages than we do.
-
Cabaye and Debuchy were mid 20s and above when they left their first and only club so obviously other clubs had reservations about them otherwise they would already have moved on. Coming to Newcastle and showing they can perform in the Premier League has proved their ability and in doing so will make them more attractive to the bigger clubs. We have been a successful move for both of them and if that had not been the case then they at least had a much improved contract compared to what they were on previously at Lille to have made the move worthwhile.

I never get why players who want to leave rarely put in a transfer request these days. I know it is about the loyalty bonus but in most cases, they are going to get a much more lucrative contract that will more than compensate for losing the bonus.
