  1. Recently we have always struggled to have enough cover in central defence as Colo and Taylor have missed loads of games in recent seasons. The 2 youngsters Good and Streete have also been plagued with injuries so if they don't replace MYM, it is inevitable Pardew is going to be moaning about his lack of defensive options next season. And they don't have a Simpson, Perch or Tavernier to play there when they get desperate. Although I guess maybe they think Dummett is the answer. :'(
  2. Look at how bad Colo was at times in his first season. The lad needs to play regularly and in his proper position to be given a chance to improve and adjust to the league. I think this is the rare example where we "planned ahead" as everyone was expecting Colo to go. Now he seems to be staying, the club don't know what to do with MYM so their response is to get rid. Ashley must be furious we bought a player than ended up not being needed. I can't imagine he will let that happen again.
  3. When he first joined he was supposedly on better money that Hughton but still very low compared to other Premier League managers. However, I guess there were improved terms when he signed the new contract but no doubt his contract will still be heavily incentivised.

Isn't Grenier going to Roma? Thought I read that Roma had made a £10m bid for him.
  5. Keegan got compensation though Plus wouldn't that be in all managers contracts if they left before the contract they signed ended? Lastly why the f*** would Pardew walk? He has the easiest job in football at the biggest club he'll ever manage. Maybe such a clause does exist in other manager's contract but there just seemed to be an issue about it at the time with the line being that Keegan has a history of quitting so they were covering themselves incase he did it again. However, when he did leave it was because they had made his position untenable hence him being able to sue for constructive dismissal. Agree about Pardew but people often say if he had any pride, he would resign so I was just suggesting another reason why he would never consider it.
  6. Considering we are supposed to be after at least 2 strikers - I have no idea who we will end up getting especially if Gomis is not one of them. We tend to "monitor" players for an age before signing them so we are very familiar with the names by the time the deal eventually gets done. We have been linked to very few strikers seeing as that is the priority part of the team that needs addressing.
  7. I seem to recall when Keegan was appointed manager by Ashley, the papers saying that there was a clause in his contract where he would have to pay the club if he chose to leave. If that was true, then I wonder if something similar exists in Pardew's contract - might explain why he won't ever contemplate resigning.

He wont be coming here if he had any sense. From a purely mercenary point of view NUFC is a good club for players from France to come to. We are a good stage for them. Ba, Remy, Cabaye and Debuchy have all had their profiles raised by playing for us in the Premiership. They also get paid more here than they do in France. Very true. If they are successful here, they know they will be able to step up to a "bigger" club whilst many players who make that move directly don't get enough playing time and so don't get the opportunity to adjust.

Whether they like it or not, they are going to have to spend some money. If they don't, they will be panic buying at the end of August and getting in loans which will mean they have wasted money anyway. They are just an embarrassment - especially when they then expect clubs to pay over the odds for our players. £3m for Marveaux!! Whatever happens, I would be amazed if the squad is not significantly weaker in numbers and quality next season.
  10. They can't even gamble on that this year. Leicester have rich and ambitious owners and QPR must have learnt some lessons from last time.
  11. I am hoping this is just lazy reporting linking players with a former manager. Surely Pardew must have noticed some English players who didn't play for him at least 5 years ago.
  12. The club will probably think the fans will be pleased because he is a Geordie!!
  13. I think Allardyce only has a year left on his contract so they have probably decided to stick with for one more year to avoid the pay off.
  14. pardew just desperate to sign anyone from one of his old clubs. I hope it is not true because it shows a complete lack of imagination from Pardew.
  15. Rodwell is always injured so we probably will end up buying him.
  16. I wouldn't be letting Santon go until we know what is happening with Debuchy because at least he can cover right back. As we struggle to bring in players, they can't get rid of every player when a decent bid comes and then start to think about a replacement. I know they say they plan for every eventuality but the evidence indicates they do anything but otherwise they might have managed to get a few more over the line.

Someone will be getting a letter from a lawyer soon.
  18. I think the dissatisfaction has started to take root. Unless by some fluke we go onto have a great season, play attractive football and manage to bring in a couple of exciting players, the discontent will come to the fore sooner rather than later. There may not be a significant drop in attendances initially but they will start to drop in time. Their negative attitude will become a self-fulfilling prophesy. By saying that we can't compete with Southampton and Stoke, it will be West Ham and Leicester next season as we drop down the table and then the following season it will be other teams and before too long we will be perennial relegation strugglers. How on earth do they think they will be able to attract decent players with their stated lack of ambition? Certainly not the right type of players that will enhance the team.
  19. That would be good for a banner. "If you don't dare, why should we?"
  20. I just can't believe they are so idiotic not to say something along the lines of: "although the Premier League is a priority, a cup run would be good but they would review the situation depending on how the team were doing in the league." But to prepare stats to argue that it would lead to inevitable relegation is ridiculous. They should just opt out of the competitions instead of going through the charade.
  21. These are the stats referred to on his timeline. http://www.nufcfansutd.com/2/post/2014/05/nufc-fans-forum-consenus-feedback-on-season-201314.html
  22. Saying we should be grateful that the club are willing to engage with the fans! They have no choice - as it is a UEFA (or is it Premier League) requirement. There is no way they would be doing it otherwise.

  24. Entertaining football doesn't just result in increased TV revenue, it increases the global brand (could atttract that commercial revenue they are forever elusively chasing) and gets more people coming to the games.
  25. That's something that I have wondered about before. When Ashley bought NUFC there were a lot of assets - how much of that remains within NUFC? When he does come to sell the club, he will be selling a much reduced club with few assets albeit with an improved balance sheet. It won't be worth what he paid for it.
