  1. We seem to spend too long waiting on our preferred target which gives us little time to move onto the next (if there is one identified) especially if all our contract negotiations are going to be so protracted. At this stage another club might have been happy to sell earlier in the transfer window but may not now if it leaves them no time to get their own replacement.
  2. Need to remind would-be employers of their availability.
  3. Chelsea fans have said that Mata doesn't do much defensive work which apparently is a must for Mourinho.
  4. Love how we take some random gingers word as gospel. Fair enough JFK is a gobshite w***** but that doesnt me he really did say it. Its been two days and not even a sniff of a bid yet is there? JFK probably did say it - he said loads of stuff like that when he was manager and none of it was true.
  5. I don't have a problem with Ashley not talking - there are plenty of other owners that don't speak. However, I do expect there to be a figure head at the club like a Chairman who communicates what the vision is and that we see that vision being implemented which has not been the case up until now. The plan seems to change regularly so no-one has any idea what the club (Ashley) is really trying to achieve.
  6. and lose his 'loyalty' bonus? Why would he want to do that when it's pretty clear the club are willing to sell. I'm a bit confused over the loyalty bonus. I always thought that players were entitled to bonuses for each year they complete and that is what they did not want to lose. But I heard a discussion with ex-players on the radio recently where they said the club had to pay up the entire contract which seems totally wrong to me as surely that would mean the player was getting paid twice. Cabaye is going to easily double his wages with this move so I don't see why he can't put in a transfer request although Ashley does have history here (Carroll and Given) in managing to get players to do that.
  7. He travelled with the team on Sunday but returned home before the game.
  8. Who is actually saying this? because Palmeri knows nothing and just repeats what he reads. Usual twitter attention seeker basically. I think he is a journalist though as he is often on Talksport reporting on what is happening in Italy.

    Alan Pardew

Part of me clings to the hope that Ashley would not appoint Kinnear as manager because of his health. He has said before that he is in the best shape ever and then keeled over and if it happened again (and it would be stressful for him as manager because of the unrest it would cause amongst fans and media) and the it happened again, then would Ashley feel some responsibility? Then I think that JFK would be responsible for appointing the next manager and that is depressing again.
  10. The bench last night was poor and we were only really missing Santon. Only one defender who then went on to make his Premier League debut, the Ameobis ... Now that Jonas is injured and Taylor is out for 3 games, (regardless of what people think of them) it just highlights even more how weak the squad is.
  11. Mick Lowes made the point this morning that for him the most concerning thing about Cabaye's departure was the effect on the French lads as he "manages" them and they are all hugely influenced by him. He ensures that they behave in the right way, speak English etc. If this is true then it is a ridiculous situation that the Pardew has allowed to happen.
  12. I heard that discussed on the radio as Scudamore was praising the away attendances for the opening game and they said that the only 2 teams who had not sold out their away allocation was us and Fulham. But then as you say Sky don't help with their scheduling.
  13. Best the utter weaklings can do either side of singing about Shola and Pardew. Cretins. Ron, man. Really think this fan rage is somewhat misplaced. I was looking at the screen tonight thinking "daft c***s" at those that paid money to go and watch that in the flesh, then I took a look in the mirror at someone who was sitting at home like a mug doing exactly the same. Only difference is Sky got my money instead of NUFC, which is just as bad if not worse. I don't think it is at all. The fans are refusing to fight for the club in supporting this nonsense. I can see where you're coming from but I think it's pity more than anger that I feel towards them. However, I've been where they are so I can appreciate why they still turn up. There are times when it's all you have, and for some people it's all they'll ever have, they live for it. I can't be mad with people for supporting the team, which is what most of them are doing at the end of the day. Fair point. I just wish people would see the big picture. Surely virtually nobody enjoys the rubbish we serve up at SJP and on the road these days. but what is the big picture? everyone stay's away? won't change anything not with the tv deal it would just mean further cost cuts and bring us no closer to anyone actually buying the club which is the big issue, no one wants to. Disagree - if Ashley is put into a position where he runs the risk of having to put money into the club because attendances were poor and nobody was buying merchandise, he would be out like a shot. In any case, his lack of investment in players will eventually lead to relegation and that will kill off his Sky golden goose. Last night's result is the first step along the way to possibly being relegated. Also don't agree that nobody wants to buy the club - they do, but they know what Ashley is like and they will wait until he is in a position where he cannot mess them about or hold them to ransom...Ashley isn't the only billionaire who thinks he is street-wise....as with everything else, there is always someone smarter/richer and they will come along eventually but it may take a while. Disagree, he'll hold out until the bitter end until he gets the price he wants. And frankly if you were rich why buy an expensive club like newcastle when you can buy a biggish championship club (eg Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday or go to League one Sheffield United or Wolves) for far far less put in some small amount of investment (compared to prem) get them up and boom prem tv package. Are you serious ? Leeds ? Sheff Utd? Wolves ? Since when did ANY of these clubs have the support potential - and actual - around the world that NUFC has ? Lets hope potential buyers know more about club potential than you seem to - don't argue by the way, because you'll start to look silly with that theory. We also have the infrastructure in place. Those clubs might be a lot cheaper to buy but then a lot of money would have to be spent on other things.
  14. The penalties are a concern - he got away with it tonight but other managers will have their players targetting him.
  15. The scoreline was not unexpected but I did think we would at least try to compete. I cannot believe any other team would have been pathetic in performance and attitude especially in the first game of the season. Regardless of whether we have a smaller squad than last season, sometimes you need to buy new players just to freshen things up. We are so predictable.
  16. Said in his interview on Radio Newcastle that Europe was not the reason for their poor season but thought their poor pre-season was a factor.
  17. I have been convinced for a long time that he wanted to be off. I think it was very telling that he was disappointed that the club wouldn't entertain a bid from Spurs last year. I am not sure at what stage their interest was declared but at that point, we had just missed out on the Champions League and had qualified for Europe which was the same as Spurs so why the desperation for the move when the previous season, he kept saying how happy he was here.
  18. But would it make sense from NUFC's point of view because it shows that we are willing to sell him which weakens our hand. I think it is probably initiated by Cabaye's agent.
  19. So we spend all week working on a game plan and thanks to Arsenal that goes out the window.
  20. As Mick Lowes has just pointed out, Wigan want £15m for James McCarthy which makes the £10m bid even more ridiculous.
  21. Bet he thought about that for all of three seconds. He's proper mental like. Quite a few French owners/chairmen seem a bit mental.
  22. He will want the move but it if anyone else is genuinely interested, they will be forced to act now. I don't think we will get the price we want for him but he will probably agitate for the move and Arsenal may have to come back with a couple of bids before a price is agreed.
  23. If PSG intend to bid for him, I just wish they would get a move on. I cannot see any reason for them to wait - it is not as if they would gain an advantage by destabilising a rival at the last minute giving them no time to get a replacement. And an extra week's wages is not a problem for them. How on earth will JFK manage to find a replacement in less than 2 weeks when he has struggled for the last 2 months with signing other players.
  24. Southampton have plenty of money behind them and they are ambitious (a dirty word at our club). Their chairman has said that he expected them to be in Europe within a year or two.
