Radio Newcastle saying there were 15,000 at SJP this afternoon.

Interesting move by West Ham. They are meant to be up to their eyes in debt and trying to reduce the wage bill and desperately need cover in other areas. Instead, they are preparing to throw all their budget and then some at Carroll in the belief that he will guarantee them survival. A bit of pressure on Carroll there. Probably not the best of ideas for him to team up with Nolan again either.
-
Would have thought it came out of last Summer''s transfer budget as they had planned to buy a striker then and also said they would have to keep some money back for January.
-
West Ham forums seem to think Gold & Sullivan may be currently in negotiations with Liverpool for him.

But the Northern Echo says we are ready to pull the plug on the deal. http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/9832947.Newcastle_ready_to_pull_the_plug_on_Debuchy_deal/

The players all talk about how much they want to play in the Europa Cup so I wonder how they will react when they are rested for those games. It always seems as if the European clubs seem to take the Europa Cup much more seriously than we do in the UK. What's the point in trying to qualify if you are not going to take it seriously once you are in it. I hope we put out a strong enough team to get through the qualifier - maybe in the Group stage, we will have more of an opportunity to rest players. I would like us to try to win a trophy as I think it is important to get that monkey off our backs. I think it is too easily accepted that we can never win anything but if teams like Portsmouth have managed it, I don't see why we can't although you need a bit of luck with the draw. And players want to win things so it is an easy get out for them if other clubs come calling.

A friend of mine's Dad is high up in a firm that did a lot of work for Carroll. He seems to think that AC is on no where near the reported amount. In fact, he said it was about 30k per week. I don't believe that for a second though - for a start he was probably on that here when he left. Agree. Thats why he asked for another contract after he'd just signed one. It was the money. A bad reason to move, if you expect big returns from the player, as Adebayor has proved so spectacularly. I recall reading that he was on something like £50k a week but it would rise to about £80k if they got into Europe. Obviously they have, so he may well have just got a pay rise.

Swansea have supposedly based their price for Joe Allan on what Liverpool paid for Henderson.
-
Funny how they always say that and then somehow end up at the club that pay them the most.
-
The Journal are saying that Liverpool want £20m. They won't get any takers for that sort of price. It is way over what most clubs other than the top few can afford and none of them have shown any interest.
-
Always got the impression that the other players liked Carroll and didn't things get resolved between him and Taylor in the end? Quite a few seemed upset when he left and have kept in touch. Pardew has consistently spoken highly of him and defended him in the media - more than you would expect from a player's former manager - so I always thought he would be interested but could never see it happening from a financial point of view.
-
Unless he has done something that has not been made public, Liverpool seem to be treating him quite harshly. And it's not too clever either as it will affect his resale value if everyone knows they are desperate to get rid.
-
They used to pay quite low wages but maybe that has changed with the new owner as I wouldn't have thought they could have afforded to sign the Russian player (Pog......) ahead of Fulham.
-
I guess it will be because of the Notting Hill Carnival.

Dat poster Is that actually available? No Sports Direct on the Gallowgate in that picture.

This. Not one of the West Ham fans I know like him. I'd not be at all surprised to see Redknapp back there before the end of next season. I think he only has a 2 year contract so that means there is a year to go - wonder if he will adopt Redknapp's tactic of saying all the players will be unsettled unless he has a long contract. I too can see Redknapp back at West Ham - I think that is the only realistic option left for him unless QPR get rid of Hughes.

I thought that Moses was very keen to come here but we wouldn't match Wigan's fee so he ended up there.

I hope Spurs don't get Blanc as we don't want all the French players going there instead! Anyway I thought Blanc's preference is to stay with France but it is their FA that is holding back on a new contract until they see how the team does first.
-
Heard about it on the radio commentary at the time. They were saying some English fans had come over the barrier- not sure if it was when England had scored. They said it was good-natured but that they needed to get back on the other side quickly. I never heard it mentioned again so I assume it was over pretty quickly.

I remember a Spurs game at SJP where Ginola was booed and Ferdinand was cheered.
-
Pleased for him. And he does have a tendency to perform in the big games unlike Henderson who always bottles it.
-
This is quite a reassuring article which says we do not want to or need to sell although things might change if bids come in. http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2012/06/15/demba-ba-transfer-is-rubbish-say-newcastle-united-61634-31187535/

He was supposedly offered to Liverpool before he decided to sign for Swansea but they weren't interested at that point.

Wasn't there a game this season where we conceded a goal on half-time because someone blew a whistle in the Gallowgate?
