My god is Poland awful. Unbelievable how a country with a 40m population, where football is by far the most popular sport, can't cough up a single half-decent defender. Pawel Brozek been heavily linked with Stuttgart in the Polish press recently. I could see him replacing Gomez, obviously not as good as him but having scored 50 goals in 70 games in the past two season he's finally beginning to live up to the expectations (was touted as the next big thing few years ago having scored 12 goals in 11 U-21 games and all). Is that the lad who plays for Wisla Krakow? Haven't seen him personally but heard good things about him. Yeah "a fast Inzaghi" would probably be the best way to describe his playing style. He likes staying close to the last defender and use his speed to break the offside trap, a poacher who also misses quite the lot of chances. Still... a good goal scoring record in the Polish league isn't really much to brag about, Frankowski was scoring for fun in the league and still couldn't get a single goal in 16 appearances for Wolves.

Duff only comes behind Ameobi in terms of players I've criticized in recent years, but his recent left-back performances have somewhat won me over. If he'd take a paycut and Enrique was to leave then I wouldn't mind him staying as our first choice left-back. Still think he is finished as a winger, shown absolutely nothing since his arrival to indicate otherwise.

Why does everyone assume Bassong will leave? He has just arrived, is young on relatively low wages and has been our best player this season, why the hell should we sell him? I don't care if he wants out or not, Barry wanted to leave last summer but Villa's refusal to sell him didn't stop him form having a decent season. Don't want to see this end up like the Faye transfer when we sold him for peanuts then only to replace him with a more expensive and worse player.
