I'd actually say it was a few weeks before the Partizan game when Shepherd came out to the media and announced that we wouldn't extend Bobby's contract after the season. Even if it was time for him to go (which I don't agree with) I just think it was a very stupid to come out like that and cause unrest in the squad. I'm sure that Bobby would have wanted to continue and surely it effected him and his job performance knowing that this season would be his last, no matter how well he did. Then of course we lost to Partizan on penalties, made a unlucky start to the season , hired that gobshite Souness, gave him a shitload of money (earned by the team's good performances in recent seasons under Bobby) and started our decline. But yeah Shepherd was only saving us from relegation Reading the interview where he said Bobby would get us relegated made me absolutely sick.

Imagine how this forum will be if we get relegated? Still don't agree with ya. Saying that we've never had a right whatsoever to beat them is way too harsh on us, they aren't Barcelona ffs. Fair enough we're always shit when we play in London but I always fancy us to get results on our home turf against teams outside the top 4.

Roeder didn't do much wrong imo. The team we had that season was the worst we have had in the Premiership. His buys have been alright imo (well compared to the horriffic nature of everyone elses at least) and he even led us on a nice European campaign. Big contradiction there imo... He only bought two players. Other than that he was left with loans and free transfers. He certainly did not make radical changes to the team. Not much money was spent while he was here. I never wanted him appointed but to be fair the club went through one of its worst injury crisis in recent years when he was managing us. I remember one game where I counted 7 first XII players injured(we had 12-14 players injured in total). Imagine Liverpool today playing without Reina, Skrtel, Carra, Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano, Torres + 5-6 back-ups. Then again, some results were embarassing like the 1-5 loss against Birmingham or the 0-1 against Sheffield U where we played like absolute amateurs.

I think I remember one. It was against Birmingham, Emre came on as a sub when it was 1-1 and as he was walking towards the corner flag our fans started to clap for him so he turned towards them, clapped back then whipped in a perfect ball around the near post where Beye headed it in. Was a class moment tbh.

Pleasantly surprised with Edgar today, thought he did really well and we definitely should have given Colo a rest sooner. Colo seems decent on the ball though (when he's not dallying on it), reckon he couldn't possibly be worse than Butt. I'd really like to see us try the following formation in the next game: Harper Beye Bassong Edgar Enrique Colo Nolan Guthrie Jonas Duff Owen Enrique and Beye moving forward to support the attack with Colo staying back.
