My mistake, got the matches wrong. He got booed at against Reading http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_2397783,00.html Don't know why I mixed up those two games
  3. Club are very short of numbers up front assuming Shola goes. You have to remember that the current fourth choice striker is Smith and you'd hope we got rid of him too. Consider the players Keegan used to have up front (although the players are different in terms of attributes, they have vaguely) similar stature: Shearer = Owen Ferdinand = Viduka Asprilla = Martins Beardsley = ? Kitson = ? Huckerby = Carroll Ginola = ? Watson = Smith Just read his mini-bio, damn you Shearer for getting old. Shearer would be immense in our 4-3-3 system with Oba and Owen at his side. Love this one: http://www.theage.com.au/ffximage/2005/09/19/19n_owen_wideweb__430x273.jpg

I remember Babayaro losing a relative last year and it was very brave of him to choose to play for newcastle that day. Remember him getting booed at in that match, disgraceful.

Quite a few deaths we've had in recent years. Didn't Zog lose his father and Babayaro his brother?
  6. Bet he is, you know. Him and *he who shall not be named*. Duff?
  7. Also noticed that in the Everton-Newcastle Skysports player ratings (which are almost, always wrong) Taylor had a rating of 6 despite being at fault for all our goals. If it had been Cacapa his rating would have been 2-3.

    Beye today...

He is such a legend, wish we had signed him instead of Carr a few years back http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/2171/beyeyx0.jpg

  10. Lets not get too excited...
  11. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/may/13/newcastleunited.premierleague Player who must not be sold Steven Taylor :toke:
  12. "We tried everything to get him. Maybe they offered Sharon Stone." -Tottenham manager Ossie Ardiles on failing to get Philippe Albert, signed by Kevin Keegan Do it again!
  13. cavenaghi I doubt he`d turn down Champions League football for us How about Mario Gomez of Stuttgart? They might miss out on a UEFA Cup place.....but bigger clubs are after him reportedly.....could be another unrealistic one but worth a shot imo Beye did But yeah, don't think we'll be able to attract Cavenaghi.
  14. Saw the Zaragoza - Real Madrid game. Zaragoza was playing some quality stuff and were very unlucky not to have won it. Dudek of all people denied them with some fantastic saves near the end of the game. Was especially impressed by Sergio Garcia, seems like a cracking player although he missed quite a few chances. Their final game is a difficult one away against Mallorca but if they'll play as well as they did yesterday they have a very good chance of keeping themselves up. 15. 15. good question, 20 people voted for him but personally i never saw him play in my life.. Ashton for me, brilliant powerfull player, only problem is his injurey recored. Same. Never seen Gomis play, so its kinda hard voting for him then . Crouch havent been that good as a target striker, however i think he could do a very good job, as i rate him as a striker. However I went with Ashton, cause i think he has been very good since newyear's or so, and i think his injury problems is mainly setbacks from his horrible ankle-thingy. (think that was it) I voted for Crouch, but if we'd need to spend 15m signing him then I wouldn't mind seeing us take a risk and sign Gomis instead. Bent would also be a good option, depending on how much he'd cost. Don't really think all the criticism he has gotten this season is fair giving he has only started in 11 league games this season. Had 31 goals in 68 league matches for Charlton, an excellent goal/game ratio for someone playing a mid-table club, so he can definitely score goals.

  17. I'm ready to take the risk with Bafetimbi Gomis. They call him the new Drogba (and we know that when a player is dubed the "new ____" it always turns out that way. Cherouy the new Zidane etc.) and honestly they have a somewhat similar record: -Gomis this season has 14 goals in 34 matches -Drogba his last season in France had 18 goals in 35 matches - Gomis 1.89, Drogba 1.88 and they even look similar But it also has to be noted that he is only 22 years old, when Drogba was 22 he was playing at Le Mans where he scored 0 goals in the 11 matches he participated in that season. So I dunno really, I just have a good feeling for Gomis.
  18. I like Emre, I just don't like his ankles. He always seems to "need a run" then when he finally gets one and you think the good ol' Emre is appearing he gets some "minor" ankle injury which always turns about to be more serious than we thought and then we have 2-3 months in some weird injury limbo where we never know if he's fit or when he'll be able to return to the pitch. 58 league games in 3 years, one of our highest paid players, meh.. if we find a decent creative midfielder I wouldn't cry the sale of Emre.
  19. The 1-3 win against Bolton on the opening day. I saw it as a confirmation of all the good things I had said about Sam during pre-season, also made me sure that we'd be in the top 7, no doubt about it. Looking back at my MSN message history is hilarious. Can't believe how optimistic I was, kept praising Allardyce like no other... even said I would do some "things" if the appointment of Allardyce would turn out to be unsuccessful. Luckily for me none of my friends seem to remember me saying it. Maybe when I'm on deathbed I'll release my MSN history so that the world can unite in laughter at my crazy optimism and my pre-season love for Allardyce.
  20. Would be delighted with anyone of them... expect for Johnson.
  21. Read somewhere that it was 50/1 on Fulham staying up a few weeks ago
  22. If we're going to stick with the 4-3-3 setup: Out: Smith, Duff, Rozehnal Martins - New target man Owen N'Zogbia - new DM - NEW MC Enrique - New DC - Faye - Beye Harper Considering the players we've been linked with the past days our summer transfers might look like this: New Target man: ~10m (Crouch/Gomis?) Creative MC: ~8m (Arshavin?) New DM: ~8m (Makoun?) New DC: ~10m (Sakho?) So a total spending of ~36m Perhaps add 2-3 squad players and I'd be pretty happy with this team.
  23. He said in the BBC interview that he only had 17 fit players for today's game
