He's getting his game, Pompey won the cup & are in europe. Why'd he leave? The sad fact is that Pompey are a more attractive team to be with at the moment.

Looking back at the initial post I'd still fancy Gudjonsen, Diop & Barnes. We don't appear to be looking to spend big money & these 3 would be very useful additions albeit that Barnes is perhaps the only one we could attract at this stage. I'll mention Heskey again; I'm sure he'd do a job.

im pretty sure that last season we signed enrique, beye and faye only a few days after tsunami made an identical thread. tsunami just has a biased grudge against ashley, its been obvious since day one, and even when ashley did half the things he was complaining about, he still just ignored it and shelved his agenda until a time when he can use it again without looking an idiot. I've raised the question about blind faith before & have asked where the money is in previous transfer windows. If MA answered this with spending a few quid on starting 11 players I wouldn't need to keep asking the question. I'm not anti Ashley; I simply want to see the first 11 strengthened. If it aint cheap or free we don't do business right now. I'm pleased some others share my concerns. I've been with a company that was taken over 3 times in 5 years; what has been done so far could easily be seen as tarting us up for sale. We had 13 senior players turn up for the 1st day of training, we need a centre half, at least one quality midfield player & a target man. We are talking around 30 mill to do this, we will not spend half of this pre-season. MA has taken Sky money, had fans buy 2 years worth of ST's last year & this year has had others buy or commit to 3 years, you can even have an away match ST. The club should be as cash rich as it can be & all the talk is about cutting wages & not paying stupid transfer fees. Great sentiments. I'll be cheering when we start spending money in the transfer market; not for the sake of seeing money spent but as a sign on commitment from the owner.

Clearly, he wouldn't be doing all that if he didn't intend to sell. Everyone knows you don't run a business without debt unless you're looking to move it on. mackems.gif mackems.gif mackems.gif Sacked the manager 'cos he had to, he didn't clear our debts; he cleared most of the debts his purchase came with. He has made quick wins without spending that much money. KK who was always a vocal manager has hardly said a word, when he did so in January he got the call down to London to tow the line. Once he puts real money in I'll be more comfortable; we've been a relatively cheap buy up to this point.

If he spent 50 mill on players we, the supporters, would see the benefit. He wouldn't get that 50 mill back from a buyer. Isn't it possible that we're in the initial stages of a well thought out long term plan? Couldn't we see the benefit of buying and developing our own players eventually? We could be, I hope so, but we also desparately need investment in the starting 11 and up to now were trying to do it on the cheap. To me that's not long term, that's more short term.

Don't know which one to reply to but, he bought the club so the debt became his debt. He's used his money to clear the debt that he inherited but hasn't used his money to strengthen the team. He has money from season tickets and Sky and may be looking to sell for 350 mill or so. He bought the club for around 130 mill, cleared maybe 70 mill of debt (I repeat, his debt) and may make 150 mill. As has been repeatedly said, he is a business man. What he has done so far is to make the club a viable proposition to other businesses. Until he starts spending his cash on players (ie - speculating on his business) I will remain nervous. The model he is using is one to sell up. Once he starts spending money on players we should all be able to feel a little more comfortable.

I don't believe the shite that the southern press are coming out with but MA does at times resemble that best new mate who is really a complete twat & you don't see it until he's completely taken the piss out of you & ran away with your missus. Yes, he's worn the shirt, stood with the fans, bought some beers & cleared an awful lot of the debt. So, he's one of he lads and put his money in or, has has kept the natives sweet and cleared most of the debt to make the club more attractive to suitors? Let's be honest here, so far, he's spent fuck all on new signings. If it's free or cheap we may just try & sign it. Cynical? I've coughed up my money on a new season ticket, I'd like to see some action. This will attract the usual wait and see posts/ no faith posts but right here, right now, he's not lived up to the billing. Danny DeVito in Other People's Money springs to mind. Buy it cheap, make it look attractive to buyers, sell it on. Bollocks about the product and the locals. Is anybody else out there just a tad worried?

Osama oooooooooh Bin Laden oooooooh He's seeks Nuclear Fusion For weapons of Mass Destruction
-
To the tune of Blaydon Races I went to Bin Laden Races I didn't have a clue He's a terrorist, his dog's a terrorist, his mates are terrorists too We took the tank from Balmbra's and she was heavy laden Off we went down Collingwood Street on our war of terror Oh my lads you should have us shooting Bombing infidels along the way Just as they were standing We hate Makems and Smoggies too Including Bernie Slaven
-
I've heard that the Govt are putting pressure on MA to sell to the Bin Laden's in the hope that Osama will turn up in a Toon shirt & they'll nab him at the match. Brilliant plan, he'll be the one with a beard. Could be foiled if the Bin Laden's hatch a cunning plan & give everyone a free Osama mask instead of a scarf that day. I'd certainly wear mine & hope that I don't get shot for showing my support for my club. Osama, oooooooh Osama, oooooooh He's from Afghanistan I'd let him shag my mam.

He's scum but we knew about the Dabo incident before BS bought him & a phone call to Stuart Pearce would have confirmed his guilt. If we were going to sack we should have done it after he got banged up. Too late now; we cann hardly sack because of something we knew about but let him stay after an incident when he was employed with us. WTF was BS thinking when he bought him? Anyway he's our player & let's face it we are a bit short of them.

Sibierski is on a free.

Don't think he's worth the money Juve will have to pay. Famous last words I know.
-
I have to say that I think Huddlestone is a big, slow pile of crap.
-
KK is back from hols, the Euro's will be finished next weekend. I'll disappointed (and more than a little worried) if we don't make a decent breakthrough within the next 2-3 weeks. The players will be back for pre-season before we know it. I'd still go for Heskey or Crouch (if major signings come later; great) - from what I saw of Gomis he was no better than these two & has no PL experience. We need to get some new faces in; last pre-season activities should serve as a warning; we did too little too late. I think KK knows this better than anyone - Mike, the time to get you money out has arrived, now, today - I've renewed my ST & showed my commitment - you now do the same.
-
Not read the thread but Arshavin will go to a better team than us; if he goes anywhere. As we're no longer going to pay silly money I really can't see what we have to offer him. I'm not even that sure where we'd play him! BTW he has a quality player
-
He's a big kid in an adult world where an awful lot of people have taken him for a ride. I truly hope he gets sorted & that Nufc can offer him a role. He clearly feels unloved, a complete failure with no-where to turn. He really does need professional help & a long term care regime & if that works Nufc should step in with a role. A lot of people in his situation have only themselves to blame, in Gazza's case I don't think that is strictly true.
-
Has anybody mentioned that Dunne may not wish to be associated with acertain Mr Barton? Dunne seems to be a canny bloke & didn't Barton try to lamp him on a foreign trip?
-
I think he'd struggle in the PL especially in an average team
-
Is he going to Pompey cos A Ferdinand is going to Spuds & they backed off when Ferdinand came available? As for us, I suspect he's ruled us out & we're being linked with a 10M rated Deportivo defender...............all sounds very familiar at the moment. Other clubs doing while we talk a good deal. It's very early in the transfer stakes but given the infrastructure we have in place (sic?) it is slightly worrying.
-
If Zog stays it would be good business.
-
Yes it is true about Emre; but that is when we've sold & Fenebache kept it quiet until it was done. We could hardly say we'd sold just in case something went wrong (remember the Milner fiasco?). Look at Woodgate & Modric they both got "leaked" out late in the day as more or less done deals & hours later they'd both signed for Spuds.
-
For a big bloke he's not that slow & he uses his size to slow quicker players down. You know what he'll bring to a team & we need that type of reliability in our back four. How many times is it that players we should be going for and getting have ended up at Spuds or Pompey? We must've lost half a decent side to them in the last two seasons. And what's more we've gone out & bought some very average players as second choices.
-
We need a centre forward; we are pissing about with Owen's contract & being linked all over the shop with targets. I don't think that Crouch will come here & this Gomas talk has talking too long (nufc being used again?). If we can get Heskey cheap - get him; very useful squad member.
